Rolling Pin was until recently a hidden gem on Broadway across from the train station. Under new owners its lost its specialness. The salad was boring, the sandwich lacking anything to make it more than diner fare. Worse, the famous sweet potato salad was bland. The coffee was cold and the water warm. I’m sorry, I really liked this place and routinely got there early to get a table. Then I would agree with the reviews posted before this one. But now you’d do just as well at Jack’s down the block and you wouldn’t have to wait in line.

Awesome salads and sandwiches. The sweet potato in that tiny cup is just great. I don’t know what they add to their salads to make them taste so good. This is one of the must eat places in Westwood. A well established family owned café. Feels like 1800s inside. It is fun to watch the rolling pins that adorn the walls. There is also a glass rolling pin on display which I saw for the first time. Everything is good about this place and always leave with a happy stomach

This review is two fold, first off the scones they make here are fresh and delicious, but the service is the worst. They make the scones fresh every day and they’re nice and hot when you get them. The taste is perfect, the outside is crisp and the inside is still soft and warm. They have a nice variety of scones, but they never know what variety they will have until *that day* so don’t bother calling in advance. You can’t place an order a day or two in advance, in fact we’ve placed orders in the morning for pick up and they’ve had it not ready both times. Actually, they don’t even know where they wrote your order so forget ordering ahead entirely. The service here is SOBAD that I’d rather go to the dentist and have a root canal. Standing there this morning waiting for fresh scones, I literally stood there for 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. You can’t even ask them for help because they are so loud talking to one another they forget the customer is even there. It’s literally a test of your patience to see how long you can handle the wait to be helped. If these scones weren’t so good, I’d never come here because the staff is absent minded and extremely slow. They are either understaffed or need more attentive staff members.

Where do I even begin? This was love at first sight. You can tell this place is special just by looking at it from the outside. To summarize: full of character, cozy, delicious food and amazingly friendly staff. You will not regret going there !

This directly relates to the rude service staff. My friends and I went for lunch and one of our diners was running late. They reluctantly sat us(due to their strict policy of not seating a party until everyone is present) meanwhile the dining room was pretty much empty. When our late diner arrived 10 minutes later(and we put her order in shortly after our order), the waitress pretty much threw her plate in front of her face. As we we’re finishing up our coffee, we were asked if we were done, and if so, could we leave. I’ve never experienced such rude behavior. It was as if they were paying us to eat there! I’m sorry, but the food they serve up is so basic and there’s way too many restaurants out there I’d rather go to than come here to be treated like this.

This is a wonderful place to catch up with a friend or just spend some time with yourself. It’s a small older café but it is very quaint and decorated to make the small space feel very spacious. It has a very vintage feel and like the name says, there are rolling pins covering the walls. Staff are very amicable and fast with the food. While this café clearly doesn’t Serve steaks, they have an excellent selection to satisfy your pallete. I highly recommend the soups. They are very thick and fill you easy. But don’t forget to leave without trying a pastry. I cannot stress enough how much you need to try the lemon bar. If you happen to be in the area, I highly recommend trying this café out

Not from or live in this town but have come here on and off in the past year. Came here after seeing the store front during a visit to a coffee shop a few blocks away. Read on Unilocal that this place is good for breakfast(scones) and lunch strictly since it isn’t open after 4pm most days I believe. The first time I came here was a rainy day, great to have soup and sandwich combo. I had the turkey sandwich with cranberry mayo and tried their tomato soup… yum! Everything was so fresh and portions were decent. Definitely loved the sweet potato salad on the side. Since we were there on the later side, the waitress gave us some scones for the road — one Blueberry and one Cinnamon, so buttery. The next time we came in a tad earlier for lunch. I had a chicken sandwich which was a daily special and it was ok nothing to brag about. And unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed to hear the soup specials were either potato cheddar or turkey chili with rice. Serve was fine but I realized the sandwich dishes come with a choice of the sweet potato salad, a pickle or chips and I wasn’t asked which I wanted. Overall the prices for the quality is on point. I’d definitely stop by if you’re in the area and looking to eat a nice homemade meal or snack.

This is such an adorable café. Went here yesterday for the first time with my mom and the food and service was excellent. We got there around noon and the place was full. We were seated right away. Mom had the salad special and potato soup. I had the egg salad and butternut squash soup. I loved the homemade biscuit and even got a lemon poppy scone to go. We will definitely be back.

One of my favorite little cafes in the area. Great prices, great homemade food and adorable and comfortable atmosphere. Just be patient!!! There is usually a waiting list because it’s so small, but it’s worth it. Never had a bad meal here. I recommend the fresh brewed raspberry ice tea and pretty much every special sandwich or salad and of course the sweet potato salad!

Cute little place. Old fashioned and cozy. Parisian vibe. Nothing fancy but lunch was great. I did the half sandwich and cup of soup. Had the tomato soup(soo good) and the turkey/pesto mayo week special(very good also but too much mayo), the iced coffee was good and the lemonade was homemade. Will definitely come back!

Adorable tiny place, I repeat tiny place, however the food is perfect. Great soups and sandwiches. Nice friendly staff. They get busy and you have to wait especially at lunch time. Seems to be a favorite of SHMs. Can’t rush this lunch! Thought it was definitely worth the wait. Reminds me of a cute tea room. Cookies and pastries are fantastic. If you can get it it’s worth the trip.

A cozily sandwiched spot in Westwood, the Rolling Pin Café is a great option for lunch. I’ve come here twice with friends and have gotten the Chicken Salad sandwich, the Tomato Basil soup, and the Butternut Squash soup. All were delicious and dairy-free! Another must try is the sweet potato salad as a side — it’s light enough for the summer but satisfying and filling. Finally, the staff are exceedingly friendly and will help you navigate any dietary restrictions(vegans and dairy-free people rejoice!). I’d recommend getting here around 11/11:30 for lunch, as you might be stuck waiting around 12. But the wait — which was 15 min max for my friend and me — was well worth it!

Sometimes I dream about being a piece of man-dough continuously rolled by this quaint restaurant. A biddy and myself were driving by and looking for a nice place for lunch. It was pouring rain and we decided to try out this place. By golly there were already locals funneling in out of the rain, and that’s when I knew, if they were still making the effort in this weather to hit up this place, so shall we. The staff was a perfect balance of keeping up with servicing us, and letting my biddy and I interlock fingers across the table and gaze into each others eyes in complete silence. The hours and movement of the day fading away into a slow motion blur of café smells, colors, and tea. I digress. Food wuz bomb. Get your butt here to try it. :drops mic:

Rolling Pin is the cutest little café in North Jersey. My family and I have been going here for years, it truly is one of favorite places. Rolling Pin Café is a small but quaint café on a busy street of Westwood, NJ. Parking is tough on the street, but there is a lot couple of blocks behind it. I have found it easier and less stressful to just park in the lot and walk rather than try to get street parking. The location is SMALL and there is usually always a wait. If you actually want to sit in the restaurant, I recommend going right at 11 am or waiting til lunch crowd leaves and go at 1:30 pm. Ordering out is perfect and easy. Everything is amazing on this menu. But I usually get half of the mixed green salad, and turkey sandwich. The turkey sandwich comes with cranberry mayo… yes you read that right. CRANBERRY mayo… it is the . While this is my go-to meal, the café has a great selection of salads and sandwiches. They make fresh soup that change day to day, and even have a delicious mac & cheese. They also have fresh bakery items. AND… all meals come with sweet potatoes salad. I wish they would sell this in larger quantities because I never eat potatoes salad, but at the Rolling Pin with there switch of using sweet potatoes and that secret blend, I cannot get enough! I really love the simplicity of this place and it my place to go for lunch when I am having a rough day or the best option to pick up to surprise my mom with lunch at work. I cannot say one bad thing about this place because it is absolutely amazing!

This place was in my ‘to try list’ for the long time. Finally that day came today. Me and my friend arrived at 11:30am on a weekday. We were able to find street parking in front of the restaurant. Restaurant was small. Approximately 10 tables inside. Already 4 tables were occupied when we arrived. Small pretty café and decorated with rolling pins on the wall. How cute is that! We got seated by the window. Ordered coffee and tea. Menu was very simple. I ordered a sandwich with honey ham, grilled onion and my friend ordered special sandwich for a day. Daily special soup was good, sweet potato salad(side of sandwich) was so delicious. I liked my sandwich. I wish there was little more grilled onion inside but I know now to ask for extra next time. I didn’t get onion taste much. Service was great. Love to go back to try other things.

This place is great! It’s clearly very loved and was pretty busy at lunch. Tip: I got there just past 12 and easily found public parking in the lot behind the restaurant(you can just walk through the side and the restaurant is right there) and got a table with no wait. By the time I was finished about 45 minutes later, the restaurant has a wait and the parking lot was full. The sweet potato salad which comes as a side was the highlight of the meal for me. This was really good and I wanted more. I also liked my salad, which had cranberries, smoked gouda, and a light dressing. I would have preferred the dressing to be slightly sweeter as I think that would have complimented the Gouda better. The half chicken salad sandwich was alright, but I wasn’t especially impressed. I think I would stick to the soup and salad combo in the future. They make everything fresh and the soups change daily. The restaurant itself is really small and gets packed, mostly with groups of women who embody the term«ladies who lunch», as many other reviewers have said. I loved the décor– various rolling pins on the wall and just very cute. I would probably come later to avoid the lunch rush or get takeout in the future though. A bit too crowded for my lunch preferences.

This café is super cute! My mom and I loved all the different rolling pins that decorated the walls to compliment the name. They have a variety of unique soups, colorful salads, and delicious sandwiches. The drink menu which consists of numerous types of tea and coffee, as well as other typical beverages. I ordered a salad and sandwich combination. My sandwich choice being the deviled eggs salad sandwich on pumpernickel bread with some mixed greens, and my salad choice being spring greens, smoked gouda, dried cranberries, and toasted walnut vinaigrette. It was amazing! For my side I opted for a biscuit that was obviously fresh. Another good side is the sweet potato salad, I normally do not like sweet potato, but this was very pleasing to my taste buds! This is a great spot especially when the weather is nice!
