September 11, 2001 claimed the lives of three natives of Wethersfield, CT. This memorial, and Wethersfield’s 9⁄11 Memorial Sports Center honor their memory.
The 9⁄11 Memorial is a mangled steel beam from the World Trade Center. It is located on a strip of grass with two benches between the Sports Center and its parking lot.
The Sports Center includes a gym, a fitness room, and meeting facilities. It was designed to provide a safe environment for the town’s youth as they participate in athletic, academic, and social programs.
