My husband and I were looking for somewhere to get a couples massage on New Year’s day and everything was booked. Out of desperation we booked an appointment at D.L. Day Spa(we hadn’t read reviews of them anywhere and so didn’t know what to expect). We arrived for our appointment and the two masseurs(a man and a woman) were very friendly, led us to our room and shut the door and left us to undress. It’s a very quiet space and very dark. We each got under the sheet and since we had booked the package we saw online($ 70 for massage plus hot stone plus reflexology) they didn’t ask us anything when they came in, just started the massage. There was no awkward chatter or anything, as weird as it sounds it’s almost like you aren’t even there while the masseur works on you. Which is a good thing because the whole idea of the massage is to relax and let the stress lift off you. About a month before this we had been to Massage Envy for a couples massage and the therapists talked to us the entire time, it was a relief to go somewhere where silence was key. Not only that, compared to the Massage Envy experience, this massage was so relaxing and much more therapeutic than any other massage I’ve received. We also got to royal treatment with hot stones(fantastic) and a hot foot soak and foot massage. These extras would have cost a fortune anywhere else but they were included with our basic package. As for the touching and proximity to sensitive areas, I read the other review that mentions the massage was inappropriate, and I couldn’t disagree more. I used to get massages as part of physical therapy and they too come close to your buttocks, because there is tension there. I went into this massage realizing that the therapists don’t think of you as a sexual being, you are a body with tension and stress and the whole reason you are paying for the massage is for the tension to be relieved. My husband and I were so relaxed after this massage, it was a great way to start the new year off right! I highly recommend this place. Get past the idea that you’re not going to a chain, you’re going to a small family owned business where they take their job seriously and professionally. (By no means should any of this review be misconstrued as saying this is a «massage» parlor with happy endings — this is absolutely NOT the case)

What a weird and slightly creepy experience. I wanted a basic spa massage and when I saw this as a Groupon I snapped it up. It was described as an hour long deep tissue massage. The location is on the bottom level, back side of an office building. It is crowded and full of what appears to be hand me down furniture. When I arrived I was asked for my groupon and ushered into a massage room which was very dimly lit with red bulbs. A young woman led me in. Naively I assumed she would be doing the massage. I was shocked when a gentleman arrived without introducing himself and began working on me rather unceremoniously. I wasn’t given a chance to ask for a female masseuse nor was I asked about any health conditions. This is not a massage where you are draped continuously; my buttocks were pummeled and my legs massaged their full length to the point of awkwardness in terms of proximity to intimate areas. I was unable to relax as I was so uncomfortable and creeped out and was not able to interrupt the massage without feeling as though I was putting myself in some kind of risk. I realize that sounds over dramatic but I can’t overemphasize how weird this experience was, and I have had massages all over the world. The masseuse finished, announced«you’re done» and told me to dress. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough but wasn’t able to escape before the masseuse asked for a tip. This is clearly a family business and I would normally try to be very supportive. Perhaps this was an issue of incorrect expectations but no one should go for a massage there who has issues with opposite sex masseuses or a massage which pushes the boundaries of physical contact typical in most spa massages.
