This place started my love for coffee shops. I frequented here all the time when I was in high school, even skipping out to grab a sandwich or soup for lunch. The owner, Chris Gunderson is like family to me. Every time I venture back to Wisconsin, I make at least one appearance here. Honestly, this place is such a breath of fresh air in our small town; it definitely has a coffee-shop feel, but it feels more like it should be in a city and not Weyauwega.

I visited this little café today on a whim, after having found it with Google. Being in a town of less than 2000 people, I expected it to be bad coffee, cheesy decorations, and pointless knick-knacks galore. I was proven wrong. Instead of bad coffee, my fiancée tasted one of the smoothest coffees that she’d ever had(and she used to be a barista). I, on the other hand, had a smooth Americano that I was quite pleased with. Instead of cheesy decorations and pointless knick-knacks, there were bits of local flavor, including jewelry made by a local artist. I didn’t look too closely at this stuff, but it was refreshing to see that they supported such things. The building itself was fairly cozy, with two floors to plant yourself and enjoy your coffee and/or food. They had a surprisingly large selection of sandwiches and other things to munch on, including fresh-looking bakery(didn’t try any myself), and sweets from Door County Confections. The sandwiches we ordered were very tasty, although my fiancée said they put too much mustard on her’s. I tried some kind of giant peanut-butter cup thing from Door County Confections, and all I can say is: I don’t need any more sugar for a few weeks, and wow — real peanut butter! Anyways, I had to rate this place after having visited it and seeing that no one has been good enough to do it yet. Congrats to the owners for doing a fabulous job.
