Great little Irish Bar for apps, pizza and on special occaisions they have full Irish meals(or maybe all the time — not really sure as we’ve only had meals on St, Paddy’s Day). They serve a good breakfast on Sunday, too — full Irish if you want it. They often have live entertainment as well. The crowd is local, for sure.

Went into the red rose café with my wife over the weekend on Sunday 7÷26÷15 to get breakfast. 10am and 4 older guys drinking at the bar telling me to go to ihop if I want breakfast. Made me feel warm and welcome! After that the amount of F bombs used at the bar around my wife and the female bartender, oh and not to mention one of the patrons two small kids. I stated to get a little pissed and literally lost my appetite. I couldn’t wait to just get the hell out of there. The breakfast sucked BTW. I felt like I was in a movie filmed in Boston. Don’t get me wrong I work in the trades and have a huge trucker mouth myself but you need to learn when to shut it off. Have some class! I won’t be back. I’ll stick to the more family friendly places like nikos, Newcomb farms or even ihop like they suggested.

I have visited this café several times(15 – 20) and find this to be a perfect place to stop and have a couple of Guinness. You can chat with the regulars or just mind your own business depending on your mood. A lot of authentic flavor from Ireland mixed with a few flat screens and an ATM.

Excellent! My husband and I had lunch at The Red Rose Café in Jackson Sq, East Weymouth. The Fish & Chips I had were cooked to perfection. Really enjoyed the crunchy batter on the fish which was not the least bit greasy, nor were the chips. The Mac & Cheese my husband ate was the best he has ever had! Best comfort food cooked fresh and served piping hot. Loved the décor, waitress was very nice and efficient, the cook actually came to our table to be sure we were happy with our meals. We will be regulars!

I am letting you know that I appreciate the fine efforts of the owner of The Red Rose for being such a great supporter of our troops. This Saturday July 16th between 3−7PM there will be a fundraiser for a local non-profit fully volunteer group which makes up care packages for soldiers serving in Iraq & Afghanistan. I have been touched by this group sending a package to my son when he recently served in Iraq. If you head over it would be greatly appreciated. Come by The Red Rose Café all while helping out a great cause! There will be many raffles held and the walls last year were totally covered with donater stamps. Very impressive! *This is a cash only venue, but has since put in an ATM machine.

I wrote another review, for the Brisket type place, but I do not see it now. The menu is totally different. The Red Rose has subbed out their food to the lowest bidder, who in this case was«Cluckin Wings». The fries were a 3.5…skins on Pier fries from OOB. Boneless wings… dipped in the basket perfectly timed. My fault for having ordered only level B2, but I was afraid of having them so hot that my eyes would water. Give the chicken a 4. Ambience not so good. Elderly man sausage fest. Do not like plastic plates. Carrots were baby carrots right out of the bag. With the chicken being so good these seemed like two strange places to mail it in.

went to try the wings, had many choices. I ordered the coop with spanky sauce, it was incredable! the frie’s were fresh not frozen. My son had the steaktips with a bourbon marinade .He liked them very much. I will say, the service was very good .The atmosphere was Irish pub décor, with all the amneties. We will come back to try the ribs and other menu items they have 16 kinds of wings.

Our friend”s band was going to play at the Red Rose so we decided to venture out and try this Irish bar. We sat at the bar and ordered some buffalo chicken tenders and the shepherds pie and had our go-to Guiness. The bartender was incredibly friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming. It looked like there were some regulars but they didn’t make us feel out of place at all. The owner is also very nice and the band was great! Fabulous, non-pretentious, laid-back place go to to for a drink after work or on a Saturday night

This place is awesome. The Irish bar + bbq combination is dynamite. I had ½ rack of ribs and my wife had the pulled pork. Both excellent. Lunch + a few beers a piece came to around $ 50. Very friendly Irish pub atmosphere. Get here soon as the word is bbq kitchen staff is heading out at the end of September to focus on catering and competitions.

Wow, this place is a little gem in Weymouth. Its a little hard to find, as it is off of the main roads. NB: Cash only! So my husband likes to smoke brisket, ribs, etc on the weekends, and we love making pulled pork in the crockpot. However, we don’t usually do all three at once, so when we went to check out Red Rose, we were super-excited to see a combo plate with all three, plus fries and coleslaw for under $ 20. It was enough for us both. The food was amazing. The pulled pork was really the stand-out for me, but I love it so I might be biased. My husband thought the brisket was pretty good, and brisket is sometimes a difficult meat to smoke. I like a little bit more of a crunchy bark on the outside, but I thought it was good. My husband thought the ribs were great, but I didn’t try any because I wanted to avoid the mess. If you go in or check the website there is some more background on the chefs, I guess they do BBQ contests and are pretty successful. The bar itself was teeny tiny. The poor bartender was our waitress also, I hope she has some help on the weekends. She was great, though. There are some locals hanging around, but don’t be intimidated.

We were organizing a party at home for about 30 people. I’d planned on using a different place to cater some bbq, but they were all booked for a big summer party weekend. This turned out to be great, becuase we found Red Rose online, went and tested it out in person, then booked Red Rose to cater. I’m so glad we did– the food was great, our friends raved, the caterers were very accomodating with changes and on the phone, it was closer to our house(we had to pick it up since it was such a busy weekend), and even a little bit less expensive! We got the brisket and pulled chicken, along with cornbread, coleslaw, and bbq beans. If I had to it do over I might pick something other than the beans, but everything else was fabulous and I would definitely recommend it and go back. Note– they do not accept credit cards(although there is an ATM in the restaurant). FYI– the restaurant/bar itself is very small, but really cute, clean, good jukebox, and good number of tvs. The 2 servers/bartenders were very friendly.

I went there this past Saturday. I was a little skeptical when I walked in as the place doesn’t even look like they serve food. We got the combo platter with ribs, pulled pork and brisket. The platter also came with cornbread, french fries and cole slaw for like $ 13-$ 14 and was more than enough for two people. Everything was excellent, I told the bartender(Mike, who was great) that it might have been the best BBQ I have ever had. The cornbread was so good we put in another order which they gave us on the house!!! I know it is probably only a couple of bucks but little things like that make me want to give a place more business. We liked it so much we went back for lunch the next day(I don’t think I have ever done this before). I got the Red Rose burger for lunch which was also excellent. My only regret was I didn’t yet try the chili We will be back soon.

I agree with David P. Based on the other reviews and a recommendation from a friend at work, my wife and I decided to try this one out. I had the ribs and brisket combo. My wife had the pulled pork plate. The ribs were superb! The half rack was only 3, but with that taste, I could have eaten many more. Both the ribs and brisket were very meaty, and tender. The taste of the meal is one of the best BBQ I’ve had. The cole slaw was a little watery, but was really fresh and tasted good. The Red Rose seems like a neighborhood bar with tables on both sides and a large bar set back in the middle. It was in good condition, and clean. Not a real good setting for children. As we walked in, we were a little unsure of whether to stay or not. We were the only ones seated. But after the meal, we definitely agreed that we will return(for a full rack of the ribs). We would recommend this one to anyone who like BBQ.

Their was a big buzz among hard core BBQ fans. when word got out that top notch competition Barbecue would be coming to The Red. Rose Café. I was excited to check it out as soon as I had some other reason to be in the area. My excitement dimmed a bit as I saw a few puff reviews appear on Unilocal — before the announced start of BBQ there(three reviews of the place by two people — under two listings — and one other review between them!!). I’d give the place 4.5 stars if I could, but rounded it down instead of up — in light of the«ringer» reviews(edit: I see the«ringers» were removed). My wife and I arrived at the Red Rose at 2 in the afternoon on a Sunday — not the perfect time to expect the barbecue to be at its best. The place has very strong Irish bar vibe with a decent selection of beers(5 or 6) on tap. Everyone was up at the bar, and not much eating was going on but the waitress was happy to seat us and bring us a menu. I ordered a combo of ribs and brisket and my wife ordered a pulled chicken sandwich. Summary Review: Service: Pleasant, nothing exceptional. The waitress was pleasant, reasonably attentive and competent. A man from the kitchen brought out the food and returned later to check in on our opinions. The place: Pleasant, somewhat homey Irish bar with lots of televisions — two of them big screen. Ribs: Nicely smoked ribs with a decent amount of smoke and some rubbed in flavor and a slight glaze of sauce applied. Very nice. Brisket: Smokey, flavorful, chewy(but not too chewy) with the same glaze of sauce. Next time I might ask for the sauce on the side for both meats and see how things are without the sauce. I think the sauce added more to the ribs. Pulled Chicken: I asked my wife about her sandwich with some trepidation. Last time we traveled south of Boston, we hit Chilihead BBQ — while I liked the ribs, their pulled chicken was awful. She didn’t even get through ½ a sandwich. This time, she raved — she offered my one tiny bite — which was very tender and full of flavor. Fries — The fries were great — nicely done. They might have been a little crisper and tastier if they hadn’t sat under the ribs. Coleslaw: Fine flavorful and crisp. Corn Bread — suitably moist and flavorful. I will definitely be back, probably on a trip to Ikea or maybe somewhere on the South Shore. 10÷25÷10 Update: I never made it back and the BBQ cooks are moving out to Canton Mass. I believe they will open a restaurant there, but are doing catering for now.
