9ers Grill

This place used to be one of my favorite quick places to eat and especially for breakfast. But the quality and consistency of the food has recently gone down hill and I was thinking about that very thing when we were there last week. And then my daughters stuffed baked potato arrived with a live cockroach on top. I understand we live in Texas and we have bugs but they didn’t even offer to comp our meal! We paid for it!

We were coming through town and checked out the reviews which were good. Pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t in a strip mall. Clean eating area as well as the restrooms. Ordered the ribeye sandwich and the pounder burger. Caution: the burger is huge! Really good meals will definitely be back, Thanks!

Had the basic loaded spud. It was really good — what I expected. Crispy bacon, sour cream & chives just right amount. Loaded with cheese — maybe a little much for me. My lunch buddies had the chopped BBQ and shrimp po boy. BBQ tasted like beef with bbq sauce on it. Potato salad was tasty. Large menu selection that I would like to sample. Bathroom was roomy & extremely clean.

The service is slow for a burger place and only one cashier working the after church lunch crowd. We sat close to the area you pick up your order and saw constant confusion by the cooks/​staff pushing orders out almost like they couldn’t read the numbers on the tickets. Nothing special about the burger you can’t get at Whataburger/​jack in the box etc.

This is a made to order fast food restaurant. Every post failed to mention that. You walk in and wait in line to place your order, get a number then find a seat. The menu is huge and there’s lots of greasy foods to choose from. The quesadilla was over the top, stuffed with cheese, mushrooms, jalapeños, & chicken. Side of sour cream & salsa. My husband likes this place much more than I do. I think next time I’ll pass on the grease and try a salad.

Not the best burger I have ever had but the most consistently good one. I go here every time I take a trip west. Sort of a tradition and I am always happy when I leave. Tader tots are surprising good too. This is definitely the place to eat in Wharton.

Eh. It was fine, but not great for lunch. My friends say it’s usually much better. I was happy to see tater tots on the menu, but the mashed potatoes had a weird (bad) taste to them. Chicken strips were okay, but kinda dry. Not worth taking the leftovers home. The place was packed with a middle-​aged & older crowd, but the music seemed geared towards teenage girls, which struck me as funny.

Breakfast… to me. was way better then dinner… I had the corn beef hash…3eggs and melted cheese with three biscuits… it was really good. was a bit of a wait. probably 25 minutes. but was worth it when the order came. I did notice a bit of the biscuits being a bit rubbery. but just thew some butter in them and went on. the place was clean… no sign of flys… that seem to plague eating places now days. over all a good experience. thank you all for reading this :) have a great day :)

I have been here many times and it’s always been good! Today, I happened to take my grandchildren with me and the youngest is 2yrs old. He was eating French fries with ketchup when he accidentally knocked them on the floor, one of the waitresses rushed over to take over the cleaning up, we were very apologetic, she assured us that it was no problem and it happens. Next thing I know she is bring over a complimentary fresh order of french fries and a burger to top it off! They have great food! The grilled chicken salad with honey mustard dressing is really good and it is alarge portion as well. One of my favorite is the beef quasedilla with mushrooms, omg it is so good. I would say they are a little pricy but they serve large portions and it is worth it.

If you happen to be the kind of person who enjoys a puddle of grease under your chicken fried steak, this is a place for you

Three of us went for lunch. Very generous portions. Good food. One member of the party said she had the best BLT ever. Speedy service.

The entrees are ok, but the issue is the lack of sides. The fries seem ok, but I don’t eat fries. I love onion rings, but their onion rings are frozen. They are mushy on the inside as the freezer does terrible things to onions. The ranch dressing is good, but watered down and they charge extra for it. I feel as though the prices are too high for what you get.

I hadn’t been in here in almost a year and this time wasn’t as good. The food portions were smaller, one fish fillet instead of two that I had last time, and not too many vegetables. To me, they looked like someone just opened a can of mixed vegetables and tossed it in the plate. That was disappointing, if I wanted that, I would have eaten at home. The fish was good, cooked well and seasoned well. The rice was cold and the roll was cold. The worst part of my visit was the dirty sticky table and putting my hand on a wad of gum that someone put right on the side edge of the table. It wasn’t hidden, it was facing the cash register. That really grossed me out. See pictures posted.

The breakfast was horrible, my husband and I were there for breakfast. The biscuits were hard as a rock rubbery I’m thinking they were microwaved. Hash browns were over cooked to tough. For the money we spent it wasn’t worth it. I love coming here for lunch and dinner but won’t be back for breakfast.

Best restaurant in town! Friendly staff, great food, affordable pricing, and large portions. I have tried many options on the menu and I have never been disappointed.

You want unhealthy delicious American food? Check. Many options? Check. Great prices? Check. Now the only thing left is a reason to be in Wharton.
I was in Wharton because my sister was a student of the hygiene dental school. She told me this joint was great, so we stopped by with her classmate, a friend and our moms.
Their menu is extensive. I was standing in a ridiculously long line and I couldn’t decide on what I wanted until I got to the counter.
I ordered a bbq pork sandwich, and it was better than I expected! I was expecting some fast food junk, but this tasted legit. Their fries are huge. The portions were quite generous. I must mention that I can eat a lot, but I couldn’t finish my mom’s fries for her because my meal was enough.
Among other things, they have indoor and outdoor seating and their restrooms are pretty clean.

Awesome food! The business in Dallas could sure take a que from this place.

Did not know what to expect when I went to this place. I was in Wharton visiting a friend. That friend wanted me to experience country life… being a city slicker, it was definitely an experience! This place is what he suggested we all went to let our families eat. I agreed, figuring it would be a normal chain restaurant.
I must admit they they have quite the variety on the menu. What blew me away was how friendly the staff was as soon as you walked through the door. Many greetings and smiles… seemingly like people that really enjoyed the job that they do! Must be a nice feeling, because my job is just a means to an end… but that is neither here nor there!
As aforementioned, the pricing and variety was not that bad. I see the lunch time menu is a little cheaper on the weekdays. They also serve breakfast at this location on the weekend. They offer burgers, salads, chicken, potatoes, steaks, fajitas, seafood and a wide range of appetizers. They kept touting the term «home made» throughout the restaurant, so I truly wondered if the taste would be any different.
Long story short, I ordered the Southern Style Burger, which has bacon, cheese, jalapeño, mushrooms and avocados on it. I also picked up a chicken tenders kids meal and a hot dog kids meal. All in all, potion size was good for all items ordered. You could tell that the burgers were hand formed in the back, and the burger was well seasoned and sizable to say the least. Good taste overall. The steak fries, surprisingly, were seasoned really well, and fried really well also. Since we dined in, you get to get whatever Coke product you wanted, unlimited.
Having a child with nut allergies is a challenge sometimes, but the kids meals came with a cookie. I know that sometimes bakers will have food items exposed to everything they cook with, so I made an inquiry about nut exposure. The staff was prompt and courteous, to say the least. They did not wish to take a chance so asked if they could give my kids candy just to be safe. I agreed to their terms!
Throughout the dining experience, the staff came checked on our group multiple times. The manager actually brought more candy to my kids just because. One server heard my child say they were going to need more ketchup soon for their sizable steak fries, and brought out ketchup so no one would have to stop eating to service my child!
For actually using seasoning, they get an extra half of star. For actually have a staff that was awesome, another half of star. The entire place was clean as a whistle, including the restrooms. I may just have to try this place in Katy to see if I have a similar experience!
