I’ll start by saying that I am not an avid biker, but enjoy a nice ride, preferably along a creek. I had high hopes for this trail. I got on the trail in the Highlands and it was not scenic at all and not much shade at first. The parts through Wheatridge that are shady are nice and somewhat scenic. Getting closer to Golden, there are a few big climbs, which I didn’t care for, but I’m sure people who really like to bike will like(I often hear complaints that Denver is too flat…) I gave it two stars because there was a lot of debris(like sand and dirt) on the trail(which I’ve almost wiped out on before going downhill on my road bike), buggy, it cuts off in several places and is not well marked where to go(through neighborhoods and such), and there is one part where it is not paved and I had to get off and walk my road bike. It’s probably a decent ride to Golden, but I’ll try to find another way next time.

Have you ever wanted to ride your bike out to Golden but were a little unsure on how or what the best route is? Well the good news is you found it and the bad news you don’t have any more excuses. This path runs from the North Platte trail(around 73rd) all the way out to Golden. A few things to keep in mind about this trail. + It’s uphill heading West with a decent incline the last few miles into Golden + A majority of the ride is along the creek which is scenic but also fuels a lot of nats. Wear sunglasses and keep your mouth shut. + It’s less traveled than Cherry Creek and Platte + Although most of the trail is pretty easy to follow there a a few spots where it jogs out into a neighborhood or through a dirt road. Check the bike path option on Google maps before you head out to get an idea of where you’re going. All in all, this is my favorite path around town. Although I cycle it, there are plenty of people that walk/run it.

How is it possible there are no reviews for the Clear Creek trail? I’m growing to love riding on this trail more and more. I’m lucky enough to near a bunch of the more well-maintained bike trails, and this is by far my favorite. Maybe it’s that you can ride from Denver to Golden(connecting using the S. Platte River trail). Or maybe it’s because the bikers and walkers on this trail are among the most polite around this neck of the woods. And possibly the best part, the trail actually goes somewhere — it seems like many of the others just sort of stop in the middle of nowhere, and unless you love biking on the roads, you’re forced to turn around. I do not love riding my bike on the roads. I love the shady spots along the creek, and that you can make a stop for a dip at the Wheat Ridge pool. In the interest of honesty, I’ve never ridden it all the way to Golden, but hope to get there before the weather gets too cold. It’s definitely not as «happening» as the Cherry Creek trail, which is a plus in my book. More cities should have a trail system like Denver does — we’re really lucky to live here!
