I live in Rocklin and my buddy lives in Yuba City. We needed a place to meet midway and found this place. Walked in and it wasn’t the most inviting place. Typical dive location where most people are known by others. The bartender was very prompt asking me what I wanted When I informed her I was waiting for a friend and asked for a menu, she handed me two wrinkled pieces of paper. I ordered a pulled pork BBQ sandwich and my buddy ordered the same thing. We both got fries. Was it the best? Of course not. But I would suggest checking it out. You have nothing to lose! The price is right, the crowd seems nice… And the beer is cold.

There are some places you just need to stop and have a meal, well this place hit the spot. Yes, it’s a bar first… But they have seating in the back and welcome anyone to come in and have a meal. Even with the kids. We were pleasantly surprised at the great food they cooked, along with good prices on drinks and their hospitality. Sure, you may ask why we brought the kids. They’re down the street from the pumpkin farm and the closest thing too good food for about 20 minutes. We would come back again.

Walked in, not greeted by anyone. Took a table; sat there 5 minutes. Never saw a staff member. Restaurant was dirty, smoky, there were fans and air conditioning units everywhere. I love dives, but this place is isn’t worth your time.

2nd time there, food is ok, typical dive bar. Not sure if the AC was out but it was hot inside and really smokey, they forgot to turn on the vent hood, my eyes were burning I Couldn’t eat fast enough to get out of that place fast enough. Service was good there was 1 poor girl taking orders and cooking.

Great food and service. The new owners are gradually upgrading things. But we love the pulled pork sandwiches and potato salad. My husband says it is just like homemade and always orders a bowl of it, even when we get the sandwiches to go!

Had the steak sandwich, which was just bread and steak, nothing else on it.

This place is a dive bar with decent food when they have it. Do not fool yourself into thinking it is anything other than that. I’ve been here a few times for both lunch and dinner. I have a soft spot for family owned businesses or what I think may be a family owned business but let me put my emotions aside. Cons: 1. poor air ventilation, so if you are an asthmatic DONOT come in here expecting to breathe. The smoke from their indoor grill does not vent up, so you will often experience a smoke filled room and leave with smoked filled airways and clothing. If you have a smoke allergy don’t eat here. Filter some water thru your clothes after leaving and you have your own liquid smoke to cook with at home. 2. It is dark! Now that may not be so bad considering the smoke and the wood walls. Dark hides a lot of things so don’t go looking up, or down or on your dirty napkin dispensers. In fact don’t really look at the wilted bagged salad they just gave you either. 3. You pay first, when you order, so if you get a bad experience, suck it up butter cup cuz you can’t walk out and they are not known to apologize Or refund. I waited over an hour on 2 different occasions and was told it was first come first serve, don’t know when it will be up and they’re busy with a shrug.(Guess my dinner money will be busy next time I go out to eat) 4. Bar and restaurant are connected so you do not feel separate from watching a local small bar scene while you eat. Could be good or bad depending on what you expect. 5. They run out of food and dishes. And they don’t tell you before you order.(See con #3) when they run out of dishes they use their to-go containers. This last visit there were people eating their wilted salad out of a to go container and we all drank our sodas from to-go cups. Dinner did come on a real plastic plate. After waiting an hour my steak showed up. They ran out of baked potatoes so I got a bunch of French fries. Oddly these looked different from a previous visit but after waiting so long who cares that the steak was undercooked and the fries were different and the salad was wilted and turning brown.(Dinner was steak on a plate nothing else) 6. THISIS A BARN0T A SALADBAR! So don’t expect a salad bar. Your salad should you choose it is basic bagged salad and choice of condiments from the area that serves as the salad/taco/burger condiment bar depending on the night. Salad dressing includes: thousand island, blue cheese with real chunks, ranch and I spotted a dirty bottle of oil and vinegar in the corner once. Croutons, tomato slices, sliced onions and other random thing like jalapeño slices. And you only get one trip to the salad bar. Believe me once is enough. 7. This is NOT a place for a relaxed family dinner. Yes you can relaxed(after a beer or two when the alcohol kicks in, assuming your not an asthmatic). Yes you can go with your family(assuming your kids aren’t asthmatic and you are ok with them being in a bar). Yes you can get dinner(assuming they haven’t run out of food and you wait long enough for it). 8. Bus your own table. Get your own utensils. Get your own drink. Lunch you get your own salad too. Dinner they ration the lettuce out so it comes from behind the counter/kitchen/storage so that part does get served to you as you pay. Pros: 1. Quaint, kinda cool décor if you like racing, cowboys or hookers. Seriously look at the décor it is cool. Just don’t notice the dust. 2. The steak. I like it. I like salt. It works. Drink lots of water after eating to flush the salt out. 3. They put cloves of garlic on the steak. I love garlic. 4. Real blue cheese chunks in blue cheese dressing. Those that love blue cheese know this is appreciated. Bottom line: I won’t be back. 3x is enough chances. Maybe it be different if I were looking for a place to celebrate my self despair.

I love the food! That cheese steak is AMAZING! My husband likes the BBQ sandwich(special night) and the steak sandwich. The fries are always good! Great service and quick! If you want something new and you like small town places this is the place to be! Bartenders are awesome too!

Awesome food. Been there a couple of time now and everytime the food is great. They have a bar up front with tables in the rear for dining. Staff is very friendly and attentive. During the warmer weather they have outside seating and tables. Very cool place to stop and have a cold beer and a very tasty cheeseburger.

The week I decided I’d only eat meat twice a month, I ended up at Bill’s place and sabotaged my diet by indulging in one of the most amazing Philly Cheese Steaks I’ve had in a long time. The bread was nice and buttery and the meat just right. I ended up returning the next day for a steak sandwich which was also good. However, if you are doing take out, your bread might be a little soggy by the time you get to eat it. I’d recommend eating there if you can unless you live close by. It is a little dark inside the restaurant and seems more like a place to chill and have a drink among friends. It feels like a man cave country bar, which can be very appealing to some, but not the place for a romantic first date. Great place in Wheatland if you are in the area …

Hmmm… Had a Pulled Pork Sandwich and Ms Wifey had the Famous Bills Steak Sandwich. Didn’t bother drinking since it was not our kind of crowd. Pork was a little dry and lighter than desired spicely. Good but not Great. Bills Famous Steak”(sandwich) .“a slab of steak between 2 toasted bread slices.” Surprisingly DISAPPOINTING. Seasoning on the bland side, cut was not near prime, excessively grisstly(is that a word?), and ultimately disappointing for being the places name sake«famous» sandwich -.shouldn’t it be worth bragging about? Just me? … Wheatland Yuppies, who knew?

This place is great, yeehaw great. I must admit, even as an outsider I stopped in and had a good time. I will definitely be back for food. Be prepared to see wranglers and dudes who look like they chew tobacco all day. Make sure to sport your NRA trucker hat. The food looked hearty and good and the bartender checked with us multiple times on how we were doing without being annoying. The décor and vibe is top notch and what you would expect in wheatland. I hope that Roseville stops growing before it swallows this place up whole. Drinks here are poured just right. One piece of advice for Bill’s get Bulliet rye whiskey.

Apr 27th was my third time going to Bill’s in a year and a half. It’s always with six or seven folks and it has been awesome every time. The regulars are accommodating and the bartenders are super friendly. It’s not the type of exterior that would draw you in driving by(which would be surprising since it’s kind of off the beaten path) but once inside, it’s old-school fun. This last trip was probably the craziest for my crew, but even after three acts of silliness, the bouncer didn’t raise his voice or kick us out. He just let us keep having fun after a stern look and a couple words. The steak sandwich is amazing and the regular steaks are great as well, and this is from someone who a) likes his steaks, and b) lives in Las Vegas where premium steakhouses are everywhere.

Cheeseburgers or bust!!! Thats how I felt after I had one of their cheesburgers. A great hole in the wall with a branding iron feel to it. The crew I was with enjoyed their steak sandwiches. All the food is cooked on a hot grill that you can see from your own table. The burger was a fat hand made burger cooked medium just the way I like it. Nice size bar with branding equipment, mining gear, and Beale AFB memorabilia all over the place. Burger, fries, and a drink cost me $ 9. I heard that they have bands and branding iron events so I will definitely have to check it out…

Came here with the work crew for lunch! You walk in and the place looks like? Well what do we have here? A dive bar. Yes it’s a real dive bar! Dive bar aficionados… this is a place for you! The food here is very good! The staff and the service here is great! You can see the food being cooked right in front of you on the grill. Cookout at its finest! This place is a real gem! I will be back to try their steaks next time.

This place served me the best pulled pork BBQ I’ve ever had, and even my mom agreed. I got the pulled pork with a side salad, unlimited refills with pretty legit salad, and for like a buck fifty you get unlimited iced tea. The place itself is super cute, with wood paneling everywhere it makes you feel like you’re eating in a barn(but the kinda that serves amazing food). After trying my pulled pork, the cheese steak sandwich was great but still just didn’t compare. Love BBQ? Love Dive Bars? This was made for me!
