This is certainly a Wheatland landmark. Elkins has been serving fried delectable and sweet drinks for many years; my grandparents recall the establishment in place when the first moved to Beale Air Force Base. So the menu does offer classics; but beware, this helper suggested the following: Blackberry or chocolate or chocolate banana milkshake. Do yourself a favor, get a large. Get a rodeo burger, or a basic burger or a corn dog. Something about these items just make a foodie salivate. All items are pretty inexpensive. Stop by the window; you won’t be disappointed.

Brings back memories coming here… We used to come during lunch during high school. Summertime I was addicted to the Slushies which came in many different flavors. Now I like the milkshakes and since I was not having any luck in Sac with finding a pumpkin milkshake, coming through town on evening I saw Elkins all lit up and open still and stopped in to get a milkshake and to my delight I saw a special sign saying Pumpkin Pie Shakes now back. Yes please! I got one and enjoyed it for the whole trip back home. I have only gotten shakes here since the 90’s but they are pretty thick and flavorful the chocolate chip is a usual go to and is always perfect. Other favorites are peach, pumpkin, butterscotch or caramel.

Nothing special here. It is just frozen food thawed and served. They could be a great place if they would cook homemade food!!!

Called in the order and did not have a problem while picking it up. Cheese burgers were good but the fries were hot but soggy which tells me they were using old oil. Told a friend about it and a day later he ate there. Same issue. I live in Wheatland and I won’t go back.

I used to love this place. Best milk shakes around and the food is pretty good too. But the last three times I’ve been here(all within the last month and a half) the service was horrible. The two that were working were rude and I won’t be stopping here anymore.

This place is the only burger joint in Wheatland, that being said, you will get better customer service at the Chevron. I called in an order with ease however upon picking up the order I sat and waited 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged me, in the meantime my order was done sitting under the heat lamp. After another 5 minutes they asked me what would I like. I explained I was picking up an order, a few minutes later I left with my food. Got home only to find the fries overcooked and cold, the burger smashed and cold. So disappointed, I called to express my disappointment only to hear the old lady on the phone make excuses why the customer service sucked and the food was cold. I do not recommend going here. The food and customer service was embarrassing.

So the shakes are fab. Worst fries ever. How an order can be 1⁄3 overcooked, 1⁄3 undercooked, and 1⁄3 mediocre is beyond me. I’ll stop by again for a shake, but that is it.

Food was pretty good. The lady who took our order was so rude to my girlfriend and I that I wanted to ask for my money back and leave the establishment. Good Bacon Burger or not this place is on my never to return list! Side Note: The cook was pretty friendly!

The food is ok. The burgers are good but are nothing special. The prices are too high for just average food. The wait can be long. I think they need more employees than they have. One time there were two guys taking all the lunchtime orders and they were working hard but it just took too long to get the food out.

The milkshakes are superb! Orded Peach and it was spot on. Great texture and flavor. The burgers are solid. Ordered the ¼ cheeseburger and it did the job. Would happily stop in when I am back in the area.

Real soft cones and lots of shake flavors… prices are good because sizes are large. Cash is best, but they do accept cards. Clean and comfy. Takes you back to when food was good not fast. And people are definitely nicer. Will return for more than shakes next time.

Stopped in for a soft serve coned ice cream and reminds me of Foster’s Freeze in LA! Seems like a legendary retro park and stop including getting a quick bite to eat.

Mom, sis and I were driving from Roseville to Marysville and decided to stop by for ice cream. Can’t vouch for burgers here because all we ordered was a chocolate malt, a vanilla shake and a dipped cone, all of which were EXCELLENT. Thick, flavorful shakes and my mom loved the soft serve ice cream cone. Old fashioned excellence. The young couple that owns the restaurant are the sweetest, most genuine people. I love the small town, homey feel of this place. I look forward to trying some of the other things on their menu the next time I roll through town. Give it a shot!

Elkins took on new ownership by a couple that lives in a neighboring town. Prior to them purchasing it, It was overpriced but OK. I’d go there periodically out of convenience. I hadn’t been there in a while and my girlfriend & I thought we would stop in after running into town to go to the hardware store. We ordered the small Cheeseburger with Fries, a Grilled Cheese with Fries & a Chocolate Banana Milkshake. The fries tasted OK& were plentiful. The Burger was quite small but was OK. The Grilled Cheese was subpar. I think they only put 1 slice of cheese in it & had drenched it in butter prior to grilling. On top of that I asked to add bacon to the Grilled Cheese. The guy taking the order seemed hesitant. He told me he didn’t think they could do that and had to ask the other employees. He then told me they couldn’t add it to a Grilled Cheese. I looked on the board prior to ordering and it is an option for $ 1.10 to add it to a Burger.(if you look at picture #3 that somene posted in the middle of the board) Why not anything else? It wasn’t like he had to figure it out in the computer. They hand write the orders on tickets. If a customer is willing to upsell themselves for $ 1.10 for 2 pieces of Bacon I would jump all over it If I was the worker or owner. I add bacon to grilled cheeses all of the time & have never had someone tell me that. The milkshake was also just good. It seemed like there was a good amount of Banana. But I think they only have Vanilla Soft Serve & add chocolate syrup. The Wait. We walked up and ordered a fairly easy order. 1 Burger, 1 Grilled Cheese, 2 Fries, 1 Banana Chocolate Milkshake. We were the first to walk up to the counter to order & had 5 people order after us. 4 people that came after us got their food first. I would expect that if it was all Ice Cream. But when those people also ordered burgers & we had to wait 15 minutes for something it should take a short order cook 5 minutes to make, that’s not right. This place isn’t bad but I won’t be planning to go there anytime soon. The experience just reconfirmed that it is a place to go out of convenience.

I went to Elkins once a few years ago and was so unimpressed that I vowed to never go back. I heard that they were under new ownership so tried it again, what a difference! It’s nice and clean, the food is good and the wait is acceptable. The burgers are tasty, the pulled pork sandwich is good, the onion rings are very good and according to my daughter the shakes are wonderful. the only problem I had was with one employee who wasn’t very nice(haven’t seen her there recently). I recommend

I love this plaaaace! It reminds me of what a burger joint should be. Old fashioned, little old school building on the side of the highway with fresh ingredients(atleast they tasted that way). It’s not a place you go for the service, go for the food, and if you’re a local for the memories. I’ve been going here for as long as I can remember, because it’s on my way home from church(yeah, I do that) and nothing about this place has changed but the faces… and to me that’s a great thing. Thicky, frosty chocolate milkshake, hot delicious fries, and a burger with a great tasting bun, crispy lettuce, and cold tomatoes.
