Breakfast here was spot on. I went there Saturday morning for some post night out breakfast. Nick and his son were working hard behind the grill cooking up a storm. During the hour or so I was there, I don’t think either one of them stopped cooking to take a break at all. The food is flavored well, the scrambled eggs are fluffy and the scrapple tasted like home cooking. The restaurant has been around since 1982 and they seem to still maintain the same level of service and cooking. They have great daily specials at $ 5.98, so you can get a great meal without breaking the bank. They are cash only but they have an ATM on-site if your cash is running low. The prices are so reasonably priced that I can’t even be mad at them for being cash only.

Im not a breakfast fan, but this place makes me fall in love with breakfast. Everything is just so darn good. I had the cornbeef hash the last time i went and WOW. Simply amazing. Its crunchy on the edges which is HARD to find. They even have crispy scrapple. Im from the country. a down south girl… so finding these items and then having them cooked to perfection put me on cloud 9. Sitting at the counter is such entertainment as well to watch them cook. This place was packed out around 9am on a Sunday, so finding seating may be hard. LOVELOVELOVETHISGEM!

Why did we wait so long to eat here!!! This place rules. An absolute gem of a real diner. Yes, the parking lot isn’t great. But there is a public lot across the street and really Nick’s lot isn’t as bad as you think it is. And who cares? Best breakfast I’ve had in a really long time. Home fries were out of this world. Pancakes were light and fluffy. Next time you want a good(and shockingly inexpensive) breakfast— forget about that IHOP down the street. Get a real diner breakfast, made by real diner owners, and come figure out what was missing in your life.

They accept CASHONLY! Very old fashioned diner with professional waitresses. I love being there as it reminds me of a good home cooked meal! The bacon, eggs, and everything else in the menu is cooked with a home made taste to it. I’ve even had the sandwiches(they’re known for breakfast) and that’s also pretty tasty. Food is absolutely delicious! Parking could be a bit larger. It’s a small lot(really small) or you have to pay to park on University Blvd. Hence the only reason why it isn’t 5 starts. Other than that, it’s perfect! Also, they normally close early in the day(1−3pm) so make sure you stop by early in the morning or sometime during the morning. Well worth it!

Nick’s Diner is one of the cleaner diners I have been to. They serve quality diner food for decent prices. The portions are pretty big too and not overly buttery. I’m very picky with eggs. Their scrambled eggs are cooked to perfection and home fries are excellent. It’s an open kitchen so you see what they’re cooking on the grill. The place is small. It has counter top seats and a few tables. Staff is friendly and attentive. There is free parking out front and metered street parking. *Cash only, but they have an ATM on site.

A friend and I decided to try a diner for a change of pace breakfast and decided to come here. Parking was a little tight and took a few tries, but it wasn’t that big of an issue. We both liked the direct way that you ordered: you sat down, were given a menu and then made a selection. Your order was put on the lineup and in about 15 minutes, the food arrived. We sat on the counter/bar and actually watched our food being made. I suspect in less busy times the food would be out sooner, but we arrived and it was almost completely full when we got there. We have no complaints or issues at all: Nick’s Diner was exactly what we were expecting– simple, good diner food! The location only accepts cash– no credit or debit cards!

I was in town with a friend and wanted to try a local favorite for breakfast, so we ended up at Nick’s. The place was pretty packed but I take that as a good sign. It took about 10 min for us to get seated. The place was simple and cute, the staff was friendly and the food was great. We sat and waited about 30 min for our food, which was my only complaint. Although, I can’t be too upset because as I said before, it was pretty packed. It was moving at a steady pace but there were a lot of orders before ours. I ordered the sausage gravy over home fries and a side of ham. My friend got the big breakfast with chocolate chip pancakes. Everything was perfect. The coffee was a little weak but tasty. The price was right and we weren’t rushed out when we were done. The whole experience was pleasant. I would definitely return if I’m back in the area and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a solid local place to get some breakfast.

And to think we almost went to IHOP(no shade, because I love them). I was a little worried because from the outside this place looks small and it is… but this place was great. Came here at noon on a Sunday and grabbed a seat at the counter. Had a simple breakfast combo meal(scrambled eggs, linked sausage, hash browns, and toast) and a sweet tea and it was fabulous and filling. No complaints here. Oh and our waitress was lovely.

I will update this review after I eat here again because I ordered the gyro thinking they must be good a «Nick’s», but it turned out to be disastrous! Not fresh lamb meat, definitely frozen preformed strips, mild flavor, too much sour scream in the sauce needs more cucumber. I’m from a city full of Greeks, I know how a Gyro should taste and that wasn’t it! Im ordering breakfast next time maybe they’ll gain another star in my review then.

I’ve been coming to this wonderful place for almost 30 years, and all I can say is you must go here. This is some the best breakfast food you’ll find in Montgomery County. The home fries alone are worth the trip. They also make amazing omlettes and a killer chip beef. You’ll not be disappointed if you give this place a shot.

I literally love this place! The food is delicious. And it has a home made taste that it’s to die for. The only thing is that it’ll get crowed so go on the weekdays. And take cash. No debit or credits cards accepted. There’s an ATM I believe in there but I do not like paying the fees associated. Besides that this place is great! Should definitely expand or open a new location. Have to go soon!

Nick’s is a no frills breakfast joint. You rarely find places like this outside of DC, but it is always a pleasant surprise when you do. The menu is simple and the place is small. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are plentiful. The size of the diner is my only real complaint. There is no waiting area. If you have to wait, you’re pretty much on display.

This place can get very crowded. Excellent breakfast items. My eggs, over easy, the best way to test cooks talent, were perfectly cooked along with flavorful sausage patties. I’d love to return to test many of the other menu items I saw. There is true hidden talent in this kitchen.

Nick’s is a terrific little neighborhood diner that’s been there for decades. It’s a classic open kitchen layout and serves up all of the breakfast staples you would expect. I’ve only been there once so far, but enjoyed it very much and will definitely go back. UPDATE: I’ve been back several times since the first review and each time was just as tasty as the first. It’s only about a mile from my house and is definitely my favorite local breakfast spot.

I was greeted by «how many in your party? Do you want a table or not?» Food took 30 minutes to come out. I ordered coffee and noticed that the cream was already on the table. It was actually on all the tables. I asked the waitress how long it had been sitting out she simply replied we change it in the afternoons so it’s good. As far as food– Its diner food not much else to say besides the home fries were burnt and bacon tasted like it was cooked hours ago

Well I have always heard that the mom and pops places make the best food so I decided to try here. I got a gyro platter. Honestly it’s the worst gyro I have ever had. It tasted awful. I threw it away. The service wasn’t good either. The lady who rung me up was having an argument with another employee as she took my payment. I felt I was interrupting them actually. Never coming back. Oh and it’s CASHONLY!

An early morning event nearby brought us to Nick’s, thanks to Unilocal reviews. Classic diner — it’s tiny inside with just about 8 tables and a long counter with bar stools. Just squeeze in next to your neighbor. No kids menu, but our kiddo had ridiculously huge pancakes(2 for $ 4.85). I asked the waitress for a recommendation of the creamed chipped beef or sausage gravy, and she said that both are good, but the chipped beef is more popular — I had it over toast($ 8) and the portion was huge. Third diner had three giant pancakes and scrambled eggs($ 8), and we shared a giant side order of delicious diner hash browns, complete with peppers and onions. Service was great and although the food took longer to arrive than I would have guessed, it was fun to watch the line cooks sling potatoes. Breakfast for three was $ 31, including coffees, tax and tip. Need the restroom? You’ll actually head into the kitchen and hang a right. Walk past the dish-washing station. Unusual.

Quick order grill cooking and they do it well. I took a seat at the counter, since I was there on my own. The cheese omelet seemed like the way to go, with toast and home fries. A few moments later, my coffee was poured. Not great, but good. Good solid java. And then my omelet arrived. Not huge, but there was a lot of cheese in there and a good serving of home fries. Those home fries are the bomb-diggity. Delicious. The omelet was also good with the right amount of cheese, i.e., a lot. $ 7 for a good meal. $ 10 with tip. I’d go here again! Parking lot can be a little tight.

Weekday late breakfast with my wife, we stopped in at Nick’s hoping to discover a gem, and I think we did. We squeezed past a crowded counter to a small table in the back, and our waitress greeted us and right away just asked if we wanted coffee. She knows why we’re here! Top Dog — Ham — When I walked in, two things caught me eye 1) a sign that said they had the«Best Ham Sandwich in town»(making me instantly doubt it, cuz places that have the ‘best’ of something tend to have lines out the door) and 2) the huge skewer of ham calling my name from next to the griddle. You had me at HA, ham sandwich. I had a breakfast sandwich, and the star was the ham, perfectly crispy and juicy with a flavorful glaze. Honestly, the sandwich was $ 5, and they could have added another slice of ham or two to up the value and flavor a bit, but it was a great way to start the day. Contender — Home Fries — Remember that moment in My Big Fat Greek Wedding where they don’t understand what spice they are tasting in the potatoes? BAM! Exactly! I don’t know WHY these home fries were delicious, but the seasoning took it up a notch. Crispy on the outside, soft and creamy on the inside, with some onions in there… Mmmm! Disappointing — Sausage Gravy — OK. This is half my bad for overdoing the order and asking for the home fries with gravy on top. But it is on the menu, and it is NOT an upgrade in my opinion; I would have rather eaten them without the gravy and maybe a little ketchup, salt, and pepper instead. But the lake of blandly-seasoned gravy on my potatoes took away that possibility. Great diner coffee, blue and white checkered tablecloths, and the waitresses kept the refills coming. They are cash only, but there is a bank the next lot over with a drive-thru ATM. And you can really only get to Nick’s by driving East on University Blvd., so come from that way, or you can try to get away with parking at the bank like we did. I’d love to go back again and try an omelette or some of the lunch options.
