I helped a family in need and went with them to the Peoples Resource Center for the Food bank. Disgusting… When I helped the family home and unpacked the food. It was all past date and rotten. The bananas were not edible, all the can food was out of date, the vegetables were rotten. I was disgusted. Families in need deserve fresh food also. I felt that they were giving out scraps to a bunch of dogs. As soon as I left the families house I called Dupage County and complained. I was told that they have received several complaints about the food and has told Peoples Resource about it. they said the problem is that they are volunteers and are not paying attention. I hope they clean up their act because the looks on the children’s hungry faces count on them.

Helps those who need it. This place isn’t for homeless people, it’s for people having a hard time staying in their home. People who are recently unemployed, single mothers, people who have relocated to the area with dire situations, you get the picture. This facility is fairly new. They have a food kitchen, clothing, books and offer computer classes and English as a second language class. They have a huge amount of volunteers and that’s what makes this place tick. The people are top notch. This place had a very hopeful feel to it, hard to describe, but like this was just a jumpstart for people to get back on track. They have a website which describes their services and donation hours. Think of them next time you are doing spring cleaning or have a few extra hours to volunteer.
