Updating my review. Deb the bartender is nice and attentive to knowing when your drink is empty. If your a smoker this place is a must instead of having to go outside. Stick to can beer the drafts will fuck up your stomach

Not sure why some reviews call it a dive, it’s essentially a great old neighborhood bar. If you’re looking for a houlihans or corporate created pub this isn’t your place. Several regulars that have been coming here for years, are generally friendly and welcoming. Although I don’t smoke, you can here, which adds to the throw back atmosphere as well. Bar sits about 15 people, with several other tables available. There’s a couple pool tables and even a pinball machine. Beer is cheap! Pbr and old style on tap for $ 2.50 or several different beers by the can for $ 2. Hard to beat. Bartender was friendly and fast.

The old school atmosphere is to die for. Great company, great conversation and good times! Pearl jam on the jukebox and great food you have to stop by. Although we do have one member of our group that is small in stature, cant finish a beer, and is intimidated by some of the locals and the tomatoes in the food that is disgusted by the smoke, but who really cares what he thinks!

Not my choice for dive bar but the bartender was friendly. $ 2 drafts that night. Not big on smoking in bars myself but not going to make a thing of it.

This is my favorite bar in the area. I’m not going to say it’s clean or super sanitary but the place has some great pros: — Deb, the weektime bartender, is one of the nicest people you will meet. — The prices are cheap. — They have $ 1 homemade Jell-O shots. — Their menu isn’t the worst for drunk moments. I suggest the Jalapeño Poppers. — There are 3 bathrooms. — They have 2 pool tables, darts and a pinball machine. — The people watching is prime. — They have parties for holidays. — Parking is OK. There’s a lot in front and back. Parking across the street at Wheaton Bowl is also an option. If you’re a fan of dive bars, visit Sully’s Place.

In the 70’s Sully’s Place could have inspired Sam Sheppard to write a play set here and have the members of Steppenwolf ensemble inhabit the locals. Sully’s Place is a classic hole in the wall. Every person who was here and entered and exited whilst me and my friend sat perched on our bar stools and watched the nights proceedings undoubtedly belonged here. We watched a drunk couple take several naps on the bar and engage in some heavy duty hilarious existential conversation. After they woke up from a quick cat nap at one point they proceeded to stand up, proclaim their love for one another, hug, and promptly fall to the floor. The bartender cut them off, and called someone to come and pick them up. The bartender was fiercely focused on all of her customers and with great deftness was able to switch to all styles of bar room banter to then obsessing over the cleanliness of the pint glasses. The arches in the middle of the bar are reminiscent of some of the Roman’s best work and provide a nice background for the shenanigans on hand. If you like cheap beer, real people doing real things like getting drunk, playing pool, eating fried food, singing loudly to the juke box, and smoking cigarettes and talking about their lives in a language that would make your grandmother wince, you have come to the right place. If this atmosphere sounds frightening to you I am sure you will find an Apple bees near by or some other soulless corporate joint that will hold your hand in the dark.

It was a balmy 40-degree evening in Olde Wheaton Towne, the night my companion and I went in search of the fabled Sully’s. The legends surrounding Sully’s were varied and intense, and we knew that some might consider our quest a foolhardy one, indeed. As we made our way northward along Gary Avenue, our faithful navigator Siri tried to tell us we’d arrived, when clearly we had not. Was this a warning? A last chance to turn back? If so, it was for naught, and we nervously continued north, stopping only when we realized we had, in fact, passed this castle, this monument to the man called Sully, and had to backtrack a half-block. «We’re going to get killed tonight», commented my friend as we approached the front door. «We might,» I replied, «but at least we’ll die with our bellies full of cheap beer.» _____ Pros: Friendly, no-nonsense bartendress Joyce Jr. Cheap beer Entertaining conversations on which to eavesdrop New friends!(This could be a con, but the one we made was mostly harmless) Heard«Hot Child In The City» for the first time since…1976? Cons: If your delicate constitution can’t handle cigarette smoke, stick to one of the numerous corporate bars in the area.(But do so knowing that you are a sucker, and you are missing out on a great little neighborhood joint.)

Ok so let me start off saying this is a dive bar with alot of regulars and they are all friendly and inviting, love the bartenders on friday and saturday really awesome people, the downside is theres no drink specials on the weekend and u would think a place like this would have it but no… other then that they have plenty of stuff to do there and its just a fun lowkey place to hang out for younger or older people!

«Happened to pass here when waiting for a Pizza order down the road. Figured I’d stop by for a cold one. The bar tender Joy(?) and the patrons were amazing and fun. I will go back here soon. Nice Place hidden away for a good laugh.» No frills, just a down to earth shot and beer experience that allows you to «RELAX»

The diviest of dive bars… and not for everyone. If you like a dive bar with the rough around the edges clientele and drunken problem solving, which I love, this is a must go to dive bar on your pub run. The owner and customers make the place, and make it fun. Know what you are getting into but go ahead and try it!

The place is a dump, beer tastes bad, and its basically all the town drunks hang out there which means 40+ older people.

Small bar in the middle of the boondocks off North Avenue. It opens at six in the morning and there are not alot of places in Dupage county that so that. There are two nights of free pool and the drinks are cheap. It is kinda of an non descriptive place especially compared to Rosie’s down the street. never been there at night so I don’t know what kinbd of crowd goes at night. They do have a good breakfest for a bar and if you ever wanted to eat breakfest at a bar and live near by stop here.
