We got Korean BBQ, and it was great. Delicious bulgogi. And we got shiitake mushroom, which were seasoned quite nicely(albeit maybe a little on the garlicky side, which my dining companion did not appreciate) and grilled. The chicken breast was… questionable. I’m not sure what it was, but it definitely wasn’t the right texture to convince me that it was in fact chicken breast. The Korean BBQ is also served with a bean paste sauce and a bunch of fun little side dishes. I don’t remember all the sides, but I remember there was kimchi, fish cakes, pickled radish, watercress, cucumber, and bean sprouts. Unfortunately, I have to agree with previous reviewers who say that this place needs some serious sprucing up. They had a little koi pond with no fish in it(there were pennies at the bottom though). And the worst part: the restaurant was only heated by portable space heaters! The bathrooms were so cold that when you sat down on the toilet seat, your pee gets scared right back up into you! The entire restaurant was so cold. It was incredibly uncomfortable. Please get this fixed ASAP, Woo Mi! I would come back for the food, but not in the winter. Try the bulgogi and fun side dishes. Avoid the«chicken».

We are visiting form Dallas and desperately wanted Korean food. After a disappointing first restaurant we found this hidden gem. Let me say as a Korean from Dallas where the food is awesome… This place was just as good. I would recommend this place to anyone who is homesick for food. The meat, banchans(side dishes), soup, noodles… All of it was yummy. So yummy we are headed there again before we head to the airport

This was my first experience at a Korean BBQ. The food was very good, sushi very good. You need an adventurous spirit unless you speak the language. You are given all sorts of small dishes of sauces and additions but little instruction. We just tried everything and put it together as we wanted. The little cook tops on the tables are fully run by the staff. They bring the meats and cook them for you, then just indicate to «eat». The service was a little slow on the day we went, but the food was good. Restaurant clean and nice decorations.

I really have mixed feelings for Woo Mi. From the outside, it looks like an old rundown 80s bowling alley. The inside, while slightly nicer than the outside, is deceivingly so. The ceilings are filthy, the walls dirty, and the bathrooms old and outdated. Sometimes I’m not really sure why we eat here. Being a former Virginia girl, I have certain expectations for a Korean BBQ restaurant. I expect food to be plentiful, the meat to be at least of mid-grade quality, and sushi to be crappy. Woo Mi doesn’t give you much meat to an order, and what they give is a fair amount of gristle. The flavor of bulgogi is just ok. However, the freshness of the fish in my chirashi blew me away. That’s probably because I had such low expectations. Either way, it erased any doubts I had about returning.

This place used to be one of our favorite places when we lived in Rockville 8 – 9 years ago. Came today & was sorely disappointed. Place looked very dated & the ventilation must be lacking because the place was completely smoke filled. Can’t be healthy for you! The meat was charred because the flame was too high in the middle & the waitresses were so busy we ended up cooking our own meat most of the time. The service was pretty lacking. We had to wait quite a while for our side dishes & for our nangmyun. We even waited over 10 min for our check! Even the nangmyun that used to be so good here was just meh. The prices have also gone up quite a bit… $ 45 for galbi & nangmyun combo… really? Maybe I have gotten spoiled by Annandale, but I really see no reason to come back here ever again!

My family and I come here quite often for the Korean BBQ. It’s always fun and the food has never disappointed. Quality ingredients, flavorful, friendly and helpful staff. We usually get a variety of BBQ, but the pajeon and soups are quite good as well.

First time in around three years. Always have a good meal. Love the Korean BBQ. Flavorful, filling, good quality meats and vegetables. I must come back more often.

I’m surprised by the reviews… I think this place is great, it is a bit expensive but the meat they cook is one of the best I ever had. The Korean BBQ is no joke, its just perfect. I think the reviews are down because of the price and service. I am not going to lie, service is not great but it isn’t bad either. I only had the sushi once, and I am a huge sushi fan. I give the sushi section 7⁄10. Overall, I feel bad for the restaurant by these reviews… Woo Mi Garden deserves at least 4 stars!

So while it pains me to do, I must be brutally honest about the service at woo mi. The food remains authentic and delicious but there are some major issues. Number 1, as stated in my previous review, my mom and I have been coming here for about 18 years on the low end of estimating. We finally realized the last time we were here that not once have we been treated like«regulars». We are treated with only half the respect and hospitality that some other, or should I say Korean, patrons are treated. Their customs are now just down right annoying regarding the favoritism and tradition. Now it seems there is no more lunch buffet. At least there wasn’t the last time we went during lunch on a regular weekday. I suppose it’s getting expensive and I soon expect to see them back on groupon trying to regenerate business that they’ve lost for being passive to their regular and loyal customers and also for being so expensive. Well best of luck to them. I will only be coming for take out and maybe even not that if I can find a delicious place closer that meets my needs.

This place absolutely went down hill. It used to be good years ago but. now — food is not so good but price is way high for what’s being offered — hostess lady serves as secondary sushi chef when the main sushi chef is not working. This says all. This place has no integrity. — during winter, they were using space heater to save $$$. wow…

It is really weird that every authentic Asian restaurant has a very low review score. This place is definitely a very authentic Korean place. I gave it four stars because it can be pricy and their pricing procedure is not flexible. They have the right amount of spiciness and a pleasant hint of sesame oil, which unfortunately, cannot be appreciated by most ppl. I hate places that claim to have Asian food but their food are actually all Americanized, always too sweet or using too much ready to use sauce. The real Asian food use a lot of different ingredients, herbs, special sauces, not just soy sauce and teriyaki sauce! Their service is good but the servers don’t speak good English. I don’t really care; flavor is the most important part.

Don’t be fooled by the run down building and over priced meat. This restaurant has the best perfectly seasoned Kalbi, and the meat is super fresh! Make sure you save room for naeng myun– you won’t be disappointed!

It has been almost a year since I came here last time. Now they have a hard wood floor and it is much better than dirty smelly carpet floor. We ordered different kind of Naeng Myon and they all taste just an average. Also I was going to order my favorite JooMulok, but the price went up very much. I am little disappointed today because of the quality if the food and price.

Lunch is a good value, but dinner is a rip off. Was disappointed when I came here a few days ago though and they decided to close the buffet an hour early. The lunch specials seemed great though, especially when I read the words«$ 1 sushi roll». Alas, they meant $ 1 a PIECE, so the four simple rolls I ordered with 4 pieces each were actually $ 4 each. I had tried to clarify beforehand and was annoyed when I saw the total, which they wouldn’t do anything about. Don’t advertise something and not deliver, or explain incorrectly. The food is good, but a restaurant should never float by on that alone.

Expect the worst service in the town. Waited for receptionist to come, but there was no one. All the servers stared at me and did nothing. Well I had to leave.

I’ve been going to Woo Mi since I was a kid. I just asked my aunt, and she said about 12 or so years! So I’m a little overdue for a review. This place still holds a special place in my heart. I’ve yet to find any place whose galbi is as good as Woo Mi’s. The marinade is unlike any other and the meat so very tender. Other favorite dishes include naengmyeon(cold noodles), haemul pajeon(seafood pancake), mandoo(dumplings), ojinguh bokeum(spicy stir-fried squid), tang soo yook(sweet and sour pork), among others… I’ve been to most of the KBBQ joints in the DMV area… and I still keep coming back here. Pretty darn expensive, though, so that might be its only caveat.

I would give them more of a 3.5 if I had the option. I have returned once again. It was a spur of the moment, I had no choice but there is where my company wanted to go. And of course I lost the battle. This time around, I have to say major improvement. Either they’ve had improvements done or they are just simply inconsistent. The first time I came here wasn’t so bad. The second time was awful. This time around, they were pretty good. Their meats and BBQ are good. That I give them. This time around, we ordered; Haemul Pajeon(Seafood Pancake) Ojinguh Bokeum(Spicy Stir-Fried Squid) Unagi Don Rice Bowl I have to say all three were on point. We were very pleased. The only downfall was that they brought us a few ban chans while they brought our Korean neighbors more than twice as much. That was a little obnoxious since we are huge ban chan lovers. Otherwise, it was good and changed my impression on this place tremendously.

Let me start off by saying that I’ve only tried the buffet, but that’s reason enough for coming here. They offer spare rib tips(my fave), chicken teriyaki, greens, sprouts, SUSHI, those really clear noodles with veggies, and various other veggie items. Oh yeah, and the seafood pancakes that everyone raves about. :) It’s a bit pricey for the buffet($ 12 plus tip) but it’s well worth it! I can’t believe how fresh the sushi is. The service is pretty good too. Waitresses come by to fill your water glass and ask if you need anything at just the right time. All in all, it’s a very pleasant buffet option if you’re in the area :)

My family have been coming here for years. I give the food 4 stars but the décor is in the need of a desperate remodel, thus 2 star rating. Very generous banchan and their food is still good. When cooking their galbi, let the waitstaff cook it but ask them to leave the fire on their grills, as some meat is so underdone, it needs more time. The carpet needs to be replaced ASAP(so dirty, mushy feeling and breaking apart) and what’s up with the heat? It’s freezing and they use portable heaters throughout the restaurant. Not a good sign. Their screens seems like it hasn’t been cleaned since it opened. I sure hope they can remodel its restaurant. It’s a rather sad sight.
