One of the keys to my Lexus SUV broke. The plastic part of the key with the controls to remotely open the car door, lock it and set the alarm cracked. I called the Lexus dealer in Oakland and they told me it would cost me $ 358.00 for a replacement key. NO! that wasn’t a typing error, a replacement key cost $ 358.00!!! JUST FOR ONE FREAKING KEY!!! I love my Lexus, but I gonna think hard when I buy another car.
So I went to the Lexus owner web site where there’s a blog on people who have problems with their vehicles. I posted a message about my key issue and found that there were other people like myself who were just as shocked as I was to find out about a replacement key.
Someone directed me to this company in West Virgina called Advanced Lock & Security (ALS). I found their web site and ordered a shell for my key for only $ 44.94!!! That’s a fucking $ 300.00 difference!
Freight was only 9.87 so I paid total $ 54.82.
I love the internet. Now I have $ 300.00 to spend on restaurants.
