Deerfield Moving & Storage

I’ve never written a review on Unilocal before but this Company just pushed me into it. DON’T hire this Company before looking around at competitors and I’m going to show you why with the experience I had with this Company. I just got out the Navy after five years and in that time I moved around a lot. I’ve dealt with different Moving Companies that have moved my Furniture from Chicago to Japan to San Diego and back to Chicago. So when I say Deerfield Moving and Storage is the worst Company I have ever dealt with I’m not just saying it without having experienced the way other Companies do business. Since July 8^th I’ve been waiting on my Bed Rails that they forgot to deliver on the original run and I finally got a new date just now on Sept 12^th. This Company had me thinking about buying new Bed Rails but considering they’re made out of wood and black I was just stuck dealing with this Company.
I guess the Military operates with them in some way because after leaving San Diego and coming back to Chicago they’re the Moving Company that ended up delivering my Furniture to me. After having a set date, I called to notify them that I needed a later date due to the storage unit I wanted not being available until the following week. So we agreed on a new date and time and everything was fine. Then I’m sitting down getting a haircut at the barber shop and I get a call from Public Storage telling me that Deerfield movers are outside waiting on me so they can deliver my Furniture. No one told the driver or his partner about the new date, they just showed up at the Public Storage on the original date and time and had no knowledge of the changed date. They didn’t even call me the night before or morning of to make sure I was even going to be there. When I called their office to ask them what was going on, they said it wasn’t their job to call the customer ahead of time that in fact the customer are supposed to call them.
I went ahead and got whatever unit was available which ended up being 212 dollars! They only had huge units available and this one was a monster. My Furniture only took up half of the available space when everything was in the unit. The original unit I had set up was on special and half the size of the unit I ended up getting. I was very upset but as shady as they seemed I was actually worried what would happen to my stuff if I sent them away and told them to come back on the agreed date. There were only two guys for the job which made sense because it wasn’t too much furniture but one of the movers had about three fingers missing on one hand. After they moved everything into the unit they told me they forgot my Bed Rails which meant buying the unit for that price and the whole morning was for nothing
So at this point I’m frustrated and the driver tells me they will call me with a new date to drop off the Bed Rails. This was on July 11^th and it is now September 11^th and I’m just getting word on my Bed Rails, After calling every week and getting my name and number taken down because the «Dispatcher was currently out» I finally got a hold of the Dispatcher. She then gives me a time and date that happens to be while I’m at School, I explain to her I will be out of class at 12:30pm that day and she replies with «We’re not changing our Truck schedule around because you’re not Home». I almost lost it when I heard her say that but for the sake of my last little tiny piece of Furniture I just told her to give me whatever time they had. When I was done telling her my information she just hangs up and never takes a name of the person who would be waiting for my Bed Rails while I’m at School.
Like I said at the beginning, this Moving Company is one of the worst I have ever dealt with, they seem very much disorganized and it never helps when they’re rude to you over their mistakes. They never even apologized once about anything wrong they did and just shows what kind of company they are. Glad it’s almost over with and I say almost because I’m wondering what shenanigans they will try to pull on this next run. I would definitely recommend that you find another Moving Company to help you with your move like Ampol Moving, New City Moving or Von Sydows Moving and Storage all who have better reviews then Deerfield. While I don’t know the rates for all these places because my move was prepaid by the Military, I would definitely shop around before settling on this Company.

HORRIBLE! 2 days before the truck was scheduled to come to load the entire 20,000 pounds of our 3 story house to move to Atlanta, Larry informs me there is no truck for us, even though we had a contract. DO NOT TRUST THEM OR ATLAS!
