Tom does a GREAT job! I’ve had a few patches put onto clothes as well as had clothes tailored and i’ve been extremely happy with the results! He’s very thorough and straight to the point. It isn’t necessarily cheap but he truly does a good job. Highly recommended!

Tom is experienced, but not the politest. He altered my suit jacket in one night — which I highly appreciate, but my experience would have been better if he had refrained from snapping at me «I told you cash only!» When I had forgotten that he does not accept credit card.
Also, $ 56 to slim the waist and shorten the sleeves was not the best deal around.
Probably won’t visit again. Good result, but expensive and didn’t feel appreciated.

I have used a tailor in Deerfield for years, but I was only so-​so about his performance and his prices. I also have used a number of cleaners that also do alterations, but when I recently moved to Wheeling I needed to find a new tailor. I just lost some weight, bought some new clothes and needed to get a bunch of work done. 13 pairs of pants, two sport coats and two suits.
I first brought him one suit and two pairs of pants. I wanted to make sure that he was going to do it all the right way before I left all my clothes with him. He measured and marked each item individually. Each sleeve and each pant leg. (some tailors will mark one leg and assume that your other leg is the same length. This isn’t the right way of doing it. Your hip might be a little lower on one side, your leg might be a little shorter. whatever. To do it right, you need to measure each leg individually.) He marked not only the waist of the pants, but adjusted the inseam so that the pant legs would taper correctly when he drew the waist in tighter. Rather than just mark the sleeves of the coats, he measured the distance from the tip of my thumb, the right way of marking that as well.
I came back three days later, and it was all done. The suit fit perfectly. The pants hung correctly at my waist and were the correct length. The taper on the pant legs was correct, and the seat of the pants fit well without being too tight or too loose. I was very happy. Not only that, but his pricing was lower than I had paid in the past. And, he gave me a receipt with the price written both on my copy and on his copy. There was going to be no question as to what it would cost.
So, I was a happy camper. Came in a few days later with the rest of my wardrobe. He marked each item. On my casual pants, he recommended saving the money and not doing cuffs. He said that most people don’t wear cuffs with casual pants. Saved me $ 4 per pair.
Actually, I couldn’t be happier. He is prompt with his work, he won’t do more than you actually need done, he is meticulous with his marking, chalking and pinning of each garment. I will certainly use him as my tailor of choice from now on.

I had the best experience I could have with Tom, without actually having something tailored. LOL. I brought in a fringe dress (1920’s flapper style) that I needed taken in. He was very honest with me, and said that because of the way it was made, there was no easy way to fix it without affecting the hang of the fringe. He said essentially what he would be doing would be pinning it, which I could do from home. I thought it was very nice of him to be that honest, and not just turn out a sub-​par job that I could have done myself. So while I did not get anything tailored yet, I definitely will trust him with my next tailoring job.

Love, love, love Tom’s work! He’s saved me on a number of occassions taking in and hemming bridesmaids dresses and alters all of my pants for work! He really does great work at a very reasonable price!
