If there were 6 stars I would give it to them. Really a terrific job in smoothing and patching some deep scratches (from my little terrier!) on my leather sofa. The gentleman, Serge, took his time and I could tell he was really concentrating on doing a good job, and not just «getting it done» so he can get home, so to speak. I could tell he was taking his time to do the job right. I did some price quotes with several different companies, and this company not only did a really terrific job, but their prices are absolutely reasonable. I will be recommending this company to ANYbody that needs help with furniture issues.
When I was looking at the finished couch, it looked brand new and I couldn’t even tell where I pointed out the original scratches for him to fix! Now THAT is a good job.
Oh, a little side footnote to you dog lovers: Don’t let your dogs on your leather couch unless you put something down on it. If they see a squirrel out the patio window, they will take off if you have a dog like mine (a relentless terrier!!), and bolt to the patio door. ie; there go your nail scratches on your sofa! Lol

I had 6 kitchen chairs that I wanted reupholstered. They just needed some updating. Universal Upholstering was recommended to me. They did a great job at a reasonable price. The storefront is in a strip mall and nothing special, but I would rather they spend their money on quality employees, (which apparently they did) than a fancy showroom. My only negative was that it took a little longer than I had hoped but I am glad they are busy as they do a very nice job. I dealt mostly with Eugene but everyone I had contact with was equally helpful and polite. I will look around my house for more furniture to be upholstered. Keep up the good work!

I have been debating between 3 and 4 stars, but have settled on 4 stars and here’s why.
Two Men & a Truck have a contract with Universal Upholstering to repair damage caused by their incompetent and very poorly trained moving crew. During a recent move, Two Men damaged 5 pieces of furniture, 4 of which are very high end, heirloom-​quality pieces.
Universal Upholstering actually did a pretty good job in repairing the variety of nicks, dings, gauges, scuffs, chips, etc. They took great pains to do their very best to match paint colors, finishes and techniques to make the repairs blend in as much as possible. And, for the most part, they were very easy to deal with.
I would also like to mention that Universal’s moving crew moved the 5 pieces back once they were finished and they did an outstanding job! They treated the furniture as if it was their own.
The only area that can be improved upon is communication. At times it was a bit difficult to get updates on the progress of the repairs. I think this was partly due to the fact that Two Men was the actual client and they were being most disagreeable. I think it put Universal in the position of trying to be the servant to two masters.
So, all things considered, I would highly recommend Universal for their high level of skill and true craftsmanship. It can be very difficult to find a company that takes pride in its work, and Universal Upholstering really seems to do just that!

I just picked up a chair that I had 2 cushions made.
Yes– they made cushions, and the sewing looks to be decent.
So, what is the problem?
This chair is a mid-​century piece of furniture, and they made cushions 3x the thickness that they should be. I don’t need need a big puffy chair. The cushions are so thick, that I don’t even fit in the chair. I feel like a giant pouring out of it!
These guys might know how to reupholster, but they don’t know a thing about the style or history of a piece.
I guess I will be bringing this piece into the city to a company who knows what the end result should be.
I will not be bringing my piece back for them to fix– not even worth it. If they did not do it right the first time, they surely won’t do it the second time.
If you also want to know, I was charged $ 260 for foam and labor on 2 square box cushions not including the cost of my fabric. Seemed like a lot, but I was going for convenience.

I recently had some major damage to leather sectional and was sure that nothing can be done. Leon was very knowledgable and came up with a fast and very reasonably priced solution. It took only a few days to repair and it looked just like the day I purchased it. These guys really know what they are doing and I recommend them to my family and friends all the time.

I recently brought my cushions for a leather like product to be upholstered. The cost around $ 500 for material/​labor that the owner sold me. Within 5 months the fabric fell apart. The owner, Leon blamed the problem on the manufactor (even though he sells that product). Not only did he not fix the problem, he wanted me to buy more fabric and pay for the labor again. I would never go to this company, they did a terrrible job. Also in the job a cushion needed to be resewing because it would fit back on over the foam. If i hadn’t pushed to get it done right I would have left without my cushion fitting correctly.

Recently our couch arm was falling off so I had Universal Upholstering come out and give it a look. They were able to fix it on the spot for a reasonable price and it seems to be holding up well, though I suppose time will tell. I would definitely call them again, and in fact might end up doing so to have them reupholster the very same couch.

We brought in 2 leather bar stools that had become stained in some way. One, on which we tried everything to repair, was a disaster, In fact, we bought a replacement for it. When a second stool became damaged in the same way, we brought both into Universal. They restored both chairs to perfect condition. I couldn’t believe it (also couldn’t believe I had unnecessarily purchased a replacement stool). We plan to bring our six dining room chairs in for reupholstering.

Great place! First, I went there to get my sofa re-​upholstered. They did an incredible job that it looks better then it did when I first bought it. Now I call them for everything like scratches made by my dog on my leather couch, window treatments… anything I need, they can do. Sweet little man named leon always helps me out.

I have a medium sized sectional sofa that would not fit out of my apartment when the movers attempted to get it out. I set up an appointment with Universal Upholstering to disassemble/​reassemble my couch and do the same to my boyfriend’s couch (relocate his to our basement). They started at 10am and were finished shortly before 2pm. All of the work included couch disassembly/​reassembly on 2 couches and a 15 minute drive to my new apartment. The total cost was $ 550. The work was great! They did an excellent job and were very polite. They also were very careful in keeping things tidy and not dinging the walls. I am not planning on moving again soon. However, I would not hesitate to use this service again. Highly, highly recommended!
