This park needs a lot of help. The miniature gulf is the same old one from when I was a kid. The pool dressing rooms are from the 1950’s with nasty old toilet stalls and urinals to old broken lockers that most of them are broke and the working ones require a quarter and has the old style keys with the safety pin to attach to your clothes. Surely the city of Wheeling can spend some money to upgrade these facilities. I’m surprised that they pass the health department inspections.

Great park with a lot to offer. Had a playground, game room, pools, waterslides, bingo, activity room, outdoor pavilions.

I’m new to wheeling and I am amazed at what wonderful parks they have. Wheeling park is beautiful with paddle boats, swimming pool, and huge water slides, well done, not gimiky or commercial looking!

Wheeling Park is such a welcome part of the community. Green spaces galore, an ice-rink, arcade(in the White Palace), a nice public pool with a water slide(old school, two lanes, if I recall). The playground is lovely as well, and there are lots of benches and shelters to rent, along with a pond and paddle boats. Yes, it’s not Oglebay, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s just right as it is. The very best part of the park, however, is a little grotto/waterfall/fern area called the Frank Rock Garden. Built in 1929, it must have been a tiny bright spot in an otherwise bleak year in Wheeling and world history.

Poor Wheeling Park. It’s always been like the forgotten little brother of Olgebay. Of course, there’s a good reason why: Oglebay is far superior in space, staff, amenities, and overall décor. After they took out the bird sanctuary, everything seemed to go downhill. Just go to Oglebay.
