Ok, so there were a few definite pluses here. The room was reasonably spacious, had vaulted ceiling on the 2nd floor, a fridge(but no microwave), and a slider to a balcony. The rates are low for the area, and the other budget motel in the area, a Ramada Limited, had even worse online reviews. Make no mistake, this is a tough, worn out old property that might have been a HoJo’s or Ramada at one time. The furniture, carpet, and paint were a mishmash of whatever was thrown together when the old stuff became intolerable. The beds were hard enough that it was tough falling asleep. There was no clock radio, so I relied on my phone to wake me up. The parking lot looked like it was not paved in my lifetime, and I’m no chicken. Someone in the breakfast area, which does not open until 7:30 on weekends, tried to panhandle me. Not sure there is any smoking vs. non-smoking, as there were just a few non-smoking signs on some rooms. The room had the typical old motel musty odor, but the opening balcony door helped alot. The people staying here included many who were Indian, like the owners, plus truckers and work crews who needed the plentiful parking area. In an area where hotels and motels are expensive, this might work for a night or two, but remember, this is much more Motel 6 than Marriott Courtyard. For those really averse to musty or smoke odors, you want to avoid places like this anyway.

Pro: Cheap, You can bring your pet. Con: Everything else. I have stayed in a variety of places, motels, youth hostels, this was hands down the worst place I have ever stayed at. Everything else in the area was booked, so I booked a 3 day stay here in desperation. I should have just slept in my car. The first thing you notice, is the foul smell that permeates the entire building. It is a combination of tobacco, mold, and possibly febreeze to cover the smell. Originally I was put in a room that reeked of smoke and had burn marks on the carpet and bedside table, I was graciously moved to another room, that only moderately smelled better. The bedsheets were scratchy and torn, the towels were stained. The carpeting must be harboring several species of mold, and I wouldn’t doubt it if there were bed bugs. I did not see any sign of roaches, but perhaps part of the smell was heavy pesticide use, I have no idea. They advertised channels that did not tune in, and they are old analog tvs. My initial room did not have a mini-fridge or microwave. Also, doors open and close all night long. I had a sneaking suspicious that the hotel, being just off the highway, was the go to place for prostitutes. To be perfectly honest, I felt completely unsafe. I was afraid to leave my room once it got dark. I made it two nights, and woke up with a severe headache and itchy eyes. I cried on the phone while I desperately searched for ANYWHERE that would take me for the night. I am not exaggerating, it was this bad. If you are desperate, you can probably survive one night here. This econolodge was probably a nice place 30 years ago. It has now fallen into disrepair, and instead of knocking it down, someone bought it. It needs to be completely gutted, and I am shocked that the health department hasn’t shut it down. also, the WIFI goes in and out, so don’t count on it.

Only staying here because it was so cheap. As I walked into the main hallway where the guest rooms are located, I was greeted by the most sinister smell in my life. I travel a lot, so I recognize odors. It had a combination of, sperm, asshole, Marijuana(no problem with this), cigarette smoke, cat & dog urine & feces & something almost like death itself. I lived in a fraternity in the 70’s when everyone had sex anywhere they wanted, & beer & pot & smelly underwear & socks & vomit, so I know bad smells… well THIS hotel was WORSE. The refrigerator was full size & plugged in, but it was not cool inside.(nice touch, loud frig, but not working), so I unplugged the bastard so I could sleep. Sheets were free of blood stains & cigarette holes, so this was a plus for Econolodge. No used condoms under the bed, no cock-roaches that I could find, the carpet was not sticky, so really the only real negative thing I have to say is the first impression walk into the arm pit of the hallway lobby. I would never take my family here, but for me, 7 hour sleep, tomorrow meeting at 10am, I am fine.

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Bugs crawling in the ceiling of the bathtub, itchy sheets, mold, carpet worn down all the way. Repairs not finished in my room, filthy. Spend any amount extra to not go here. I’m serious.

Stop right now. DONOTGOTOTHISHOTEL. I’ve stayed in less-than-classy hotels before, but I’ve never even seen one as bad as this. Within 15 minutes of checking in, we threw our luggage back into the car and hightailed it out of there, hardly stopping to tell the front desk we were gone. Sure, I could have gotten past the… unique smell, and yes, that hypodermic needle on the front stairs could have been for a diabetic, but the final straw was when, immediately after I carried my mother’s and grandmother’s luggage into their room, a stranger knocked on their door inquiring about a prostitute. That’s when I decided we’d find another hotel. Things wrong with this Econo Lodge: 1. The prostitutes. 2. The men looking for prostitutes. 3. The smell. 4. The filth. 5. The balconies that don’t lock. 6. The wayward cleaning lady. 7. The _other_prostitutes. 8. Do you need more reasons?
