I really want to like this place, but after my 3rd visit(I withheld judgement from the last 2 trips) Its just not happening. I will start with the good. The building is really cool and has an interesting atmosphere. The servers are friendly. Prices are ok for what is described(not for what you receive unfortunately) The selections alway sound good but do not end up thst way. Mozzarella sticks weren’t bad, but were just«eh». I did not try the fries but they appeared to be bag and fry. The lettuce in my salad was just shy if being bad, roasted red peppers(the kind from a jar) slapped in, tasteless feta cheese, low quality olives and grilled chicken that was nothing but grease… Dessert was flavorless. Just sugar, just sweet. Did not appear home made at all. I hate reviewing low but 3rd time was not the charm. My family likes it, but I will not be back.

After a day of hiking and adventure, a satisfying meal was greatly desired. Upon arrival the vintage smoke stack and steam punk décor were cool, our waiter Rob was friendly and accommodating, and the bread was hot and homemade. The bar and food service were subpar. Cocktails are watery & flavorless, beer or wine is your best option. The Caesar salad was solid, house made dressing, great flavor. The $ 17 lobster Mac small plate was insulting. The elbow pasta was dry, not one piece of lobster meat to be seen through the small dish, huge glob of cheese broiled on top. Horrible. We paid for what we ate and decided to never return. Nice try but misses the mark.

So me and my hunny stopped here for lunch yesterday to break up the long drive back to New York. I odered a ginger bread martini which was to die for. delicious! For food I ordered vegetarian pasta. theres no way can go wrong with that. but it was tasty. The atmosphere was old industrial, interesting and cool décor. The service was great!

I’ve been going to the Powerhouse for many, many years. Service has always been top notch, and the food is always perfectly prepared and consistent. The atmosphere is great, with exposed mechanical equipment letting you know this place literally used to be a power generating building. The menu doesn’t change, and is typical American fare with steaks, seafood, etc. But what they do, they do very well. If you want a high quality, perfectly prepared filet, this is the place to go. I like that they’ve expanded their beer selection to include some local and PA craft brews. The place is a landmark and one of our«go to» spots for a good dinner.

Definitely a cool restaurant with a neat history that I enjoyed reading on little cards at the table. This place has a fancy menu paired with exposed pipes and bricks to remind you where it came from. We had reservations and there were a few people who left because they didn’t want to wait, so consider if you want to come at a busy time to make reservations yourself as I get the feeling there aren’t a lot of nice food options in the area, so you’ll want to be on the safe side. Our apps of lobster bisque and mozzarella/tomato/prosciutto was delicious, but the main course was average. We had«shrimps and scallops Mediterranean» and the seafood part was great with really big shrimp and really plump scallops, but their lemon and white win sauce was not great and pooled at the bottom of the bowl while the penne tasted flavorless. For dessert, both the crème brûlée and their hazelnut cake(not sure exact name and it’s not on menu) were excellent. For a prix fixe menu, there was some great options, but the price was a bit higher than I think the value of the food was worth. To try out, this place was cool, but the food overall seems a bit overpriced for what you are getting.

Loved the atmosphere, hated the food. Very small portions, poorly thrown together. The French dip was dry and lacked flavor as well as meat. The salmon was fatty and the side of rice was pathetic. I would not recommend this place, and I can’t understand all the rave reviews. I really wanted to love it.

Great atmosphere! Great service(Brian was awesome). Food was very good and was provided in a timely manner. The prime rib was cooked just right and was tasty. Will definitely go again when I’m back in the area!

Oh my has this place gone down hill. Still beautiful inside but this is no longer the only game in town for upscale food and scenery. Waited 35 minutes for two sandwiches and a salad. I really hope that the owner puts some time into this(1 of 3 he has) restaurant. Rebuild your kitchen staff and put some thought into the quality of your ingredients.

I was introduced to this restaurant by my girlfriends family. I’ve been in love with it ever since. The first thing you notice is that it’s an old powerhouse(obviously). The inside is clean and had a lot of old feel to it. Lots of stuff to look at. This place is pricey, but the food is really good. You won’t be disappointed with anything you get off of the menu really. They always have specials as well. The drinks are great. I always get my favorite drink; blueberry lemonade. It does have vodka in it. It’s a must try if you go there. Service is always good and they are prompt. They are also very friendly people and never miserable. I’ve gone there at least 5 times and I’m never left disappointed.

So glad we came here for our late dinner Dec 23rd. I had to call to move our reservation later, about 30 min before the last seating. They called me on time to make sure we were still coming. A little hard finding the place coming at night, just drive slower and look for the signs. Upon walking in, felt like we walked into winter wonderland ahaha. Loved the décor and our table for 13 seat up for us. Our waiter was great, polite, attentive, and super friendly. So a 10 for service! We ordered a few appetizer to share and ordered, buffalo chicken wings(great flavor), french onion soup(omg the best i’ve ever had), mac and cheese, mixed fried seafood(it was ok), and mushroom crab cake(really good). For entrée, I ordered seafood salad, didn’t like the dressing that came with it so i asked for balsamic dressing instead. Everyone enjoyed their dish, except for one of the pork chop dish that was a bit dry. Dessert we had the cheesecake(nice and fluffy), chocolate hazelnut cake and one last one that i forgot! Not at all did the waiter rush us when we were passed closing time. I would love to come back if we came back to the area!

Wonderful food and impeccable service. The crab bisque and calamari were perfect, and I was so pleased with the large seafood salad, fresh greens and plentiful shrimp and lump crab meat. The boys lived their burgers. Ask for Pat of Napoli and Brooklyn – he took great good care of us. we will be back

Stopped here out of the blue for dinner one evening and was pleasantly surprised. The ambience was great, the service good and the food wasn’t too bad either.

Nothing to write home about. Nice looking place. 11 of us had dinner here, almost everyone ate something different, and we all came to the conclusion, good for here, but overall, just okay. Some of the apps were decent, the lobster bisque was underwhelming, the burger was actually decent. The lobster mac and cheese needed more lobster, there were like 4 tiny pieces in it. My friend liked his steak a lot, others said theirs was just okay. Mixed bag.

Absolutely amazing! My family and I were on vacation in the Poconos and a friend recommend we try this place out. And we were not disappointed! The outside doesn’t look like much, but once you’re inside you feel the history! Such a cool atmosphere. And the only thing better was the food, and the service! I had the prime rib, which was fantastic! And for only $ 20, was well worth it! The mushroom soup was delicious, and my niece had the chicken parm(small plate — which was a perfect size), which I tried, and was delicious as well. Food is great and reasonably priced for a nice meal out. Will definitely be back!

One of the best meals and dining experiences I had in the past year. Start to finish from the salad, the bread, the dinner and dessert. Waiter was one of the best servers ever as well, what all people in the service industry should inspire to be. I had the 14 oz strip that was melt in your mouth, my girlfriend had the twin fillets and for dessert crème brûlée and mocha cappuccino. The Powerhouse has great other menu items but if you are in the mood for some amazing streak, go here!

I love that this place is unique. It used to be a power plant that has been transformed into a restaurant. It is pretty neat to look around the place when you are there. The food is great. We have eaten here many times and I have never had a problem with the quality of food. The past time we visited was on a holiday and they were working off a special menu. I understand they do this to streamline a busy night, however just because it is a holiday doesn’t cause it to be any more busy than it would on a regular night if the restaurant was filled. I had requested something from the regular menu and they wouldn’t serve it to me. Also, our waitress must have had family visiting that evening because she spent more time sitting in a booth chatting with them than checking on our table and refilling our drinks. If this was my first time at the restaurant I wouldn’t return based on the single experience, however based on the fact that normally their food is delicious and service is good I will of course return.

Yum! Stopped here for lunch as I was road tripping it to nj and I’m glad I did. The food was great. I had the French onion soup and the Rachel 10 oz cheeseburger and I sure am glad I did. The burger did need salt but that was an easy correction. The staff was nice and friendly. And the setup oh the restaurant seemed more fine dining than great burger. If I was a local this is a place I’d visit often.

I stopped here with my son on the way to State College, and we were really pleasantly surprised!!! The restaurant has a great back story(why it was a power house, etc), and the interior really pays homage to that background. They have a small history of the restaurant on the tables, and it is really worth reading. The service is really great, and the food is even better. I wish I could talk about more than the burger we had, but that was amazing. Their menu looks really good, and I can’t wait to go back out again. You don’t expect to find food cooked this well in this area, typically the«best» restaurants in the Poconos area are not really that amazing, but this restaurant is a diamond in the rough. If you’re in the area or you have a chance, you should definitely stop in!

Powerhouse is a unique gem for the location. We arrived after a long trip. There was a good crowd in the restaurant with great atmosphere. Our group was seated immediately. The menu ranges from small plates($ 10) to entrees($ 20-$ 40). This is not what we were expecting for a quick bite but we had options to get small plates. We decided to jump out of a tree and get the entrée. I ordered the special — Prime Rib — Medium Rare. The meat was a little under cooked for my liking. The outside was fork tender but the inner portion was cold and hard to cut. I assume they had a run on the Prime Rib. Overall — the experience was pleasurable and will try this place again. My group enjoyed the Filet Mignon, Pork Shank Meals. Only some of our party had problems with the Prime Rib. I will go back.

WOW! Definitely a gem! I wanted to find somewhere nice to go with great food and service while spending a weekend in PA for President’s day. I made reservations here and I was pleasantly surprises, glad we drove 30 minutes from Albrightsville(where we rented a house) to here. First off, the place is huge! I loved how they preserve the history of the landmark. Our waitress was super attentive and helpful. Provided us with great suggestions and took her time with us since it was our first time. A group of 5 ordered the following: LOBSTERANDCRABBISQUE starter– creamy and good. I enjoyed it but I had better FRIEDCALAMARI starter– OMGTHEBEST I’VEEVERHAD. Crispy not too batter, flavorful but the best part was the marinara sauce. My GOD, I would’ve eaten more if I could. HANDCUTTWINFILETMIGNON with Gorgonzola crust, Marsala brown sauce which my sister devoured was said to be pretty tasty as well. SAUTÉEDJAILISLANDSALMON with a pineapple and mango chutney with mash and string beans and squash. LOVE everything about this dish but the squash. So delicious. All entrees was served with the option of soup and salad, there is plenty of food for a reasonable price. Definitely try it if you are in the area and want delicious food.
