I lived out in NW Oakland County for almost 25 years. One consistent thing that I have needed as a car/​truck owner is my constant need for service. I’ve had to face the fact that they aren’t made to last like they used to. Through early trial and error, I spent a fortune on third-​rate auto shops (trying to save a buck) until I found Pontiac Lake Service. The guys at Pontiac Lake Service have always managed to keep my vehicles running in top shape. Whether it was my ’97 Blazer, my ’91 Beretta, my ’10 Journey, my ’08 Town and Country or my ’09 Taurus, they got me back on the road.
David, the owner and Chief Mechanic, always seems to find the parts, even the tough ones, in a timely manner. Although not the cheapest game in town, David keeps the prices reasonable. Yes, PLS costs marginally more than other shops but what I found out is that David pays his employees well above the national average which is why employee turn-​over almost doesn’t exist here. It also explains why they have the best pro gear-​heads and grease monkeys in the area working here and why the service is done right every time. I take comfort in the familiar faces any time I’m there. Peace of mind is worth a few extra dollars.
Jeff is usually the point man here. He’s the guy that you’ll talk to over the phone or see at the service counter. He always seems to be glad to see which can be refreshing fully knowing you’re not there on pleasure.
I still utilize the services of PLS from time-​to-​time but I live an hour away – just all depends where my bad luck with cars geographically happens. Feel free to name drop me – tell them «Brother Neil» sent ya’.

Always friendly and knowledgeable, work is done quickly and correctly. I have never had anything but good experiences dealing with this shop.

We recently had to replace the engine in our vehicle — the vehicle was originally at another shop out of town and they had no idea why the engine failed after a week of looking it over. One call to Pontiac Lake Service and the mystery was solved over the phone! The staff offered a possible scenario for the engine failure based on their extensive knowledge and offered different options for proceeding. The team at Pontiac Lake Service knows their stuff and does the right thing for their customer … they are honest, trustworthy, efficient and advise you with options like it’s one of their own vehicles. I highly recommend this shop!

This is my new go-​to mechanic. They are closer to my house than the one I was using. I have a comfort level with this place that they know what they are doing. They seem to have a very high level of commitment to customer service. I was one of those customers who brings in a vehicle because it «was» making a noise but «now it isn’t». I had to describe the noise. They were able to figure out it was the driver side wheel bearing. I took it out on the expressway after getting it back and yep, the problem is gone. I paid $ 335 which I think is fair market. I dropped it off the night before so I wouldn’t have to deal with it in the morning, and they parked it inside their garage for me, which I highly appreciate. The work was done the next day and they kept me informed on the progress and asked more questions and did more analysis to make sure they got the right problem. They do have a night drop procedure if you can’t make it there by 6pm, but call them to let them know and have them explain the procedure.
