This place is decent. The service is very friendly. The quality is so-so. I had a relatively simple buzz-fade done here. When I got home, I noticed that 1 side is slightly more uneven than the other. I am a bit OCD so other people may not have noticed but I would have assume that a professional should not be making this kind of mistake. On the bright side, it was pretty cheap so I might give this place another chance.

Always a great cut from gio. I have been going to him for over 15 years. Best straight edge shave in the town.

Been coming here for probably 10 years. Nearly all the barbers here are solid. There are occasionally some new guys who aren’t the best, but still can give you a solid haircut. Don’t come in expecting a salon experience with deep conditioning, but they’ll give you a solid fade/taper and a nice shape up. $ 20 with appointments for haircut+shape up/beard. I think it’s $ 15 without an appointment, but not sure because I haven’t come here in years without an appointment — ain’t nobody got time for dat

Went to this barbershop the other day since it’s close to my place. Long story short, I told the barber exactly what I wanted, and showed him pictures. Asked him if he had the idea of what I wanted. Just a simple low fade. He took my fade up super high, completely butchering what I asked for. Blatantly ignoring what I asked for and showed him pictures of. Hopefully this is not a reflection of the entire shop, but I for sure don’t plan on going back. FYI, the barber was I believe 3rd or 4th chair. Fat and bald, avoid him.

Best barbershop ever. Geo is seriously the most helpful owner I have ever encountered. I used to live in Westchester, so this was my regular spot. After moving to Queens, I had to find another barber out of convenience, but no other barbershops measured up. Went back to D Cache this weekend and got a cut by Jose, and it’s really the best haircut I have ever had. They also included a hot towel shave! Best customer service ever Geo, Jose, and formerly employed Brian were the ones who’ve cut my hair before, but if they aren’t available, Geo will def recommend someone whom he trusts to give you a great cut

This Dominican barbershop must not like white people. I travel a lot so I only had today to get a haircut. My regular barber when I’m in White Plains, NY is Sammy. I called him on his cell and he told me he was out after surgery on his ankle. I figured I’d still go and get a haircut from one of the other barbers. I mean how bad could it be? I’d probably have to wait but I had no choice, I needed to get a haircut today. I fly out tomorrow morning for a gig tomorrow night in a city I’m unfamiliar with. I walked in the shop and there were no clients on the chairs. Place was empty. Perfect! No waiting time. I was off to a good start! Then I saw one of the barbers sitting on one of the couches. Crying. Hoping it was allergies, I asked him if I could get a haircut. He wiped his eyes and motioned to the back where I saw three barbers sitting together eating lunch. Not to be rude, I sat on the couch next to them and waited for them to finish. I was still the only customer. Finally one of them, this kid, causally gets up and asks if I need a haircut. Yeah. What else would I be there for? I felt like saying: no, I’m here for lunch. What are you serving? He looks at the other two barbers and tells them in Spanish that I was there for a haircut. Speaks to me in broken English but to them in Spanish. I’m a white Puerto Rican and I speak both. In fact, I make sure they know that and I say(in Spanish): yeah I just need a quick haircut whenever you’re done eating. Thank you. They don’t answer me. Instead, one of the barbers looks at the kid and says(in Spanish): I can’t do it because I’m waiting for my appointment. The other barber simply says: «Conmigo no.»(Not with me) and sits down to read the newspaper. The kid shrugs his shoulders and goes and sits next to me on the couch and starts to play video games on his phone. You’d think from their reaction that I was asking for a free haircut. So I sit. And I wait. Still no other clients walk in. But I wait. Not sure what I was waiting for at this point. Maybe for some barber in shining armor with a sunny disposition and some sense of professionalism to walk in. But no one else walks in. No one. I wait some more. By this time Mr. «I’m waiting for an appointment» decides to play Dr. Phil to the seemingly heartbroken barber seated by the door and starts to counsel him. The other barber is still reading the paper. Still on the same page. Must be a slow reader. And the kid is still playing video games. Probably still dying on the same level. And there is still no other clients. 25 minutes pass. And I’m still there. Anger begins to set in. I wasn’t going to be able to get my haircut. I realize I’m gonna have to go with a stronger gel and a bigger brush… until I can get to my next destination and find another barber. I prayed. I meditated. I even did some mental Yoga. Anything to calm myself down. Having learned my lesson, I got up and I left. If Sammy the barber ain’t there, just make pretend this place is closed and don’t bother going in. And if Sammy is there and cutting your hair, don’t bother talking or greeting any of the other barbers. They don’t care about you anyway. Especially if you look white. I’d give this place a higher rating if Sammy was the owner or I was straight up Dominican. That one star is because eventually Sammy will return. Get better soon Sammy! Very soon!

One of the best barber shop in White Plains. The barber shop that I used to go to is not there anymore so I gave them a try. They gave my 4 year old son a haircut and it was excellent. I also got a shape up by Gio and it came out really good. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. It was a good experience and I was a satisfied customer.

My mother gave me haircuts for many years. Since this year, I looked around town to get a haircut or at least a shape up, especially if I have a beard or needing my head shaved. I looked around a bunch of places where I could get a haircut. After checking them out with or without coming in, I decided that some were actually hair salons. I didn’t want to go to a hair salon, because it costs more than a barbershop and the environment, more or less, is geared toward women or unisex and I would end up with my head down(though I am not the shy type). Others were too urban for my tastes, and it is because I am going a little bald, which means that the fades weren’t suitable for me in spite of some success with slowing down my hair loss. Having no other choice, I eventually decided to head down to Lake Street and stop by at D’Cache Barbershop, where my brother goes every week in the morning to get a haircut and a hot towel shave through appointment, courtesy of a barber he knew from his high school years. I have been there only three times before, and while it was quite distant than the other, more closer barbershops, the journey wasn’t bad either and I have to get some endurance. God, I love this town! After trimming down my own hair with electric clippers back home, I walked to the barbershop for a barber to finish the rest, a shape-up. I went inside the barbershop, put away my sweater and hat on the hook and took a seat before a barber, who have just returned from a little errand, let me know he is ready. I took a seat at the barber chair and the barber would start with the clippers followed by a straight razor with double-edged blades snapped in half. Usually, the barbers would put aftershave splash on the areas shaved, but I opted to use my own aftershave balm I brought with me, best during the colder times of the year. For hot and humid, I used a mentholated aftershave for a cooling effect. Though it’s not an old-school kind of barbershop, their cuts suited well to my style. In other words, I prefer to have a sharp look: plain and simple, like that. While D’Cache’s approach to barbershop has quite an urban approach like most barbershops in my town(e.g. specialty in fades), the emphasis is more egalitarian, and thus, well-suited to the general public. Any men would come to get their fresh cuts, but if you’re looking for an affordable shape-up, then this is the place to go.
