After receiving a message from this PP’s public affairs VP I realized I never wrote an update. I mention the e-mail because I am honestly impressed that they reached out to me to try and make a difference. I’m still not terribly pleased with the length of my wait(hence the 4 star service, instead of five) but once I finally got through the doors I was much more impressed with my experience here. The nurses in back who helped me were incredibly nice, congenial, and very sweet. The woman who took my blood could tell I was nervous. Instead doing the typical nurse thing, though, and telling me everything would be alright she instead regaled me with stories about her own fears, which immediately put me at ease. When I asked questions about the procedures she answered them well, and also treated me like an adult instead of an idiot child who knows nothing of the world, which I really appreciate. I have a master’s degree(but am presently down on my luck job wise, which is why I chose to use Planned Parenthood — normally I would leave these free or low-cost services for people who truly need the care… but right now I do), so I get a little frustrated when people talk to me like I’m five. These nurses didn’t do that. Further, she apologized profusely for the long wait and explained that there had been some operational issues and a big rush that day. Whether or not that’s true I couldn’t say, but I appreciated it nonetheless. The clinician I saw was very nice and brief. The service I was receiving was a relatively easy one, but she was still willing to answer the few questions I had, and didn’t make me feel rushed at all. The front desk staff whom I encountered on my way in were no longer at the desk when I left. The two women who replaced them were AMAZINGLY kind, and helped alleviate some concerns I had about my services/follow up/etc. I was going to update this to three stars, but having the VP reach out and make an honest effort to fix the organization reminded me that the people who work at Planned Parenthood are overworked, underpaid, under-appreciated, and really do have to put up with a lot of grief from the public, even though they just want to help create and support stable families. My only tip to anybody coming here would be to make this the SOLE errand of your day, since it evidently may take quite a while.

This is the worst planned parenthood I have ever visited. I have been going to planned parenthood for 7 years, and I have never encountered one that was more unhelpful and rude. First of all, when I made an appointment on the phone and explained my situation, the lady failed to clearly explain how payment worked, so when I showed up for my appointment, I was told I would have to pay over $ 100, even though I had said the same exact thing to the lady on the phone and was told something completely different. Then, the girl at the counter, Melissa, was very rude and had an attitude the whole time. When I asked her what my other options were, she said there weren’t any– wrong. After calling around, I found another clinic(not planned parenthood) that offered the same service for a quarter of the price. Get your shit together PP, and lose the attitude.
