I have been in training at Storming Mountain for almost a year now off and on and I have found a very supportive environment as well as encouragement to continue on my weight loss goals. I personally train 3 days a week privately as well as attend some of the BJJ classes. I have had solid instruction and honestly feel stronger then I ever have in my life. As a woman who honestly DISLIKES the gym this has been a wonderful way to gain a skill as well as get into really good shape. I am one of the few female students and that can be intimidating but, the guys have all been so kind a welcoming to me. If you’re looking for a Skill and to get in shape this type of training is intense but well worth your time and effort.

This place is a joke as a bjj school. I went there because it was an affliate of Equipe Jucao, their main school. It was ran by two brown belts at the time. I know since then one brown belt has left the school. It was 150 dollars per month to train there. 2 days of which are bjj nights. The other 2 are mma nights. I went there for about 6 months. Always paid in full with cash. I brought two other students to train with me. The main instructor Alex would all of a sudden ask for advances in tuition because he was strapped for cash. It was pretty unusual. After awhile I notice that Alex, who on their website is labeled as their main instructor never ever got onto the mats to train. And kept on showing the same move for months at a time. He would request that all of his students show up to the class the organization’s main instructor would do on the weekend for an extra 20 bucks. Upping the tuition to 170 a month. So besides having armbar and triangle drills every day they have one class a month devoted to real technique. The training there is sub par considering the price. I realized soon that this gym was a waste of money for the negligent instruction. The only saving grace of the place was it’s students and other brown belt instructor Tim, who has since left that dojo because of the latter instructor. The main instructor is given stripes on his belt when he never rolls or warms up with class. I remember vividly one night as he asked one of the blue belts to teach in his place so he can go home to watch sons of anarchy. If the main instructor is not serious about training how can his students ever be good? Spend your time and money elsewhere. I now train at Marcelo Garcia’s in Manhattan and that is by far leaps and bounds in quality of instruction and competition. If I can give this rating a 0 star I would. This guy is a crook in every single step of the way.
