This Y is pretty great. Since I’ve been a member, they’ve really fixed up the aesthetics of the overall building, locker rooms and pool. It isn’t too crowded after work which I enjoy because then I don’t have to wait to swim or for a machine. The staff is friendly and very helpful as well. I’m a regular so I definitely think this is a great place — and one I’ll keep coming back to!

We were members for many years. The YMCA has gone from good to bad to worse. The main reason we supported the YMCA was for the nice people that used to work there. The change over in employees is shocking. Yes the place was convenient to our home and the pool was clean and the fitness center was decent. Yet we had to endure the following; extreme heat and cold in the fitness center, inexperienced staff, very few Cable channels on machines, inconsistent pool water temperatures and programs and lessons all over the place, parking there is a nightmare, executives never answer emails, too much smiling in your face and not enough action, cold locker rooms during the cold seasons and warm locker room during the warm seasons, the pool manager is the weakest link, the executive director does not seem to exist and the secretary of administration has the worst attitude to top it off. The only positive notes about the YMCA are the maintenance crew and the receptionists. Lastly, the YMCA now enjoys the suffocation of security all over the building resulting from a horrific and incomprehensible nightmare that destroyed the YMCA atmosphere, morale and respect for it as a business and community entity. We highly recommend reading more on the White Plains YMCA for you will be equally as shocked as the rest of us. Stay away. Let it only continue to be a home for those seeking a very inexpensive place to live. It no longer should be open to the general public, especially to families.
