I recently went to this restaurant to pick up my to go order with a transgender friend and they told him they do not serve his kind and told him not to order again. Please be cautious if you are gay or transgender. The food was decent.

Take-out only, no outdoor seating(one tiny table). This place has good service and inexpensive appetizers with generous portions. Each entrée comes with rice which is nice. Overall this place was decent when it comes to taste, nothing to write home about. I expected more because other reviewers felt that Taj-E is better than Jewel of India which I do not agree. I actually ordered the same thing I order at Jewel and Jewel definitely carried the edge. Prices are roughly the same. FYI the Spicy/hot is not very spicy and more so medium spicy.

Pretty good Indian food here and quite a find for the location. Was passing through the area and saw this places reviews and thought I would give it a try. I got the chicken tikki masala, saag paneer(spinach and cheese) and naan. This place is just pick up and my order was ready quickly after I called. The chicken was fresh and tasty, the sauce was a bit runnier than I am used to but was still good. The saag paneer was tasty as well I enjoyed dipping the naan in both the saag paneer and the chicken tikki sauce. Portions sizes were not huge but the rice serving was generous. I would return if I wanted Indian food in the area.

Small mom and pop establishment. Only take out Indian and Chinese with a decent range of options. Simple but tasty fare, with a hint of mom’s cooking flair to it. I always pick up from here when I’m in the upper valley. I’m not sure if it’s the only Indian restaurant in the area, but the food is definitely on par with restaurants in CT.

Good Indian food in the Upper Valley. My husband and I get take out here 2 – 3 times a month. Our favorites are Chicken Tikka Masala, Baigan Bhartha, and Saag Paneer, naan and roti. The food is consistently good and the prices fair. An asset to the Upper Valley food community.

We were in White River Junction a few weeks ago and read other reviews on Unilocal about this restaurant so decided to give them a try. We were very happy we did so. We live in Hawaii so our access to Indian food is limited. We enjoyed their food so much, we ordered it again 2 nights later! We enjoyed the Lamb Curry, Chicken Vindaloo, Aloo Gobhi, Tandoori Chicken and Garlic Naan. All fabulous and perfectly seasoned! They also give generous portions. We had so much food the first time, that we saved it and enjoyed it cold the next day for a picnic lunch and it still tasted fantastic. This says a lot for a restaurant when their food even tastes great as cold leftovers! Highly recommend them and when back in the area, will definitely be back for more.

Yesterday I went to get Indian food for the second time from this location. I have enjoyed it very much. Last night I decided to get the Paneer Masala. It was wonderful! It came with just the right amount of beautifully spiced rice. The masala sauce was fantastic! Very flavorful! Although I did ask for medium and it felt more like mild. I also got an order of vegetable samosas for my husband to snack on later. I cannot eat gluten but he loves them! He said they were very good. The people there have been very friendly. It is located in somebody’s home so there is no seating inside. I took mine back to school with me because I had an open house that night. I had enough for a filling dinner and lunch the next day. I will definitely be back!

Recommended. Just know this is a take-out place and you cannot eat there. It is a family run business from their house and the food is delicious. It is certainly top three in the places to eat in the Upper Valley. Vegetable samosa are yums(one order comes with 2 samosas)! I prefer the vegetable samosa to the chicken. I recommend the lamb biryani, so good and all deliciousness. The chicken masala is also a classic. The Mali kofta and Saag Paneer are also good but not my top choice. If it’s prime dinner time it might take a while to get your food so plan ahead. I’m hungry thinking about that lamb biryani now.

Pretty darn good Indian food for a fair price. People are always friendly and seem appreciative of customers. I’ve never had to wait long for the food. What more can you ask for? If you want something better do us all a favor and move back to the city.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Hours say you are open until 8pm and you refuse to take an order at 7:05 pm because you are«done for the night?» Hire another person. The Upper Valley doesn’t have *that* many people wanting Indian food.

The food was really good. Everything was hot and fresh. The lamb in my curry was very Tender. Everything tasted amazing. My only complaint is I ordered medium spicy and it was not spicy at all. Will try it spicy next time and see how it goes.

This is Indian food in the upper valley, and that is rare. For that reason it gets 3 stars. The prices are decent– $ 2.49 — $ 4.99 for an appetizer, and $ 8.99– $ 9.99 for a main dish. the amount of rice we received was appropriate for the 2 dishes we ordered, so that was a plus. Also the rice was tasty with some spices and cooked perfectly. I had the Paneer Pakoras as an app and they were OK, but not great. There were 4, and the price was $ 3.99. I don’t think I’d order them again. My partner had the chicken samosas and he said they were good. They were a good size and there were 2 in an order. I think the price on those was also $ 3.99. For a main dish, I had the Paneer Korma($ 9.99), and I asked for medium spice. There was no spice in this dish and very little flavor. It’s supposed to be cooked with nuts and raisins. I found a few raisins, but no nuts at all, and these essential items add so much to this type of dish. I would not order this again from here. My partner had Chicken Curry. He said it was OK, but far from the best he has ever had. He rated it as passable. Would I go here again? Possibly if we are craving Indian food and unable to get down to Boston because after all, the choices in the area are few and far between. I would, however, try different dishes as these were just OK.

Don’t be fooled by the residential appearance, this has a full menu and great food. I often go for vindaloo or marshals with an order of naan.

We found this place while visiting the area. I didn’t read the reviews only saw the rating and went. We had no idea what it would look like. When we pulled in and it was a house with a door we both said well hole in the wall places are usually the best. We were not disappointed very very tasty!

Considering the other reviews, not sure if this was a one-off experience but I recently tried their take out for the first time and the food was tasteless. I ordered breads, a dal makhni and paneer masala. The dal makhni is supposed to be made of black lentils but this one didn’t had those and didn’t had any salt either. The paneer masala’s tomato gravy was a lot tangier than it should be and as it turned out the only palatable item was the bread.

hands down some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. their samosas and chutneys are literally mouth watering and their main dishes are always fresh and delicious. My husband often orders lamb dishes on the spicier side and they’re always perfectly seasoned. I order the chicken and veg dishes and have a difficult time choosing the preparation! their Korma is one of my favorites as is their chicken tikka masala. after poor experiences and extraordinarily high prices at the Jewel of India, this authentic takeout place is truly a gem.

I was thankful just to find Indian food in this area, but even more enthused to discover that it is consistently delicious Indian food that reminds me of home! The prices are reasonable for the serving size, I always look forward to leftovers for the next day. The couple of people I’ve interacted with when picking up my order are always friendly — love finding nice family establishments. Think of Taj E next time you need to get food for a meeting, party, or those days when you just can’t be bothered to cook! Current favorites are the Dry Gobhi Manchurian and the Navratan Curry.

What a great little find! First, this is a take out only place — no place to sit. Second, this is someone’s home … or looks like it is … so don’t drive past it, look for the ‘Open’ sign in the window. I ordered Roti and an entrée tonight for dinner and everything was delicious! I ate way more than I usually do because it was just that good. Everything tasted fresh and stayed warm on my drive home … what more can you ask for?
