Love it! Great place to catch the shuttle to Bandelier park. Clean facilities and helpful staff at the counter. This is run by the county and loosely associated with Bandelier. You can grab a map and get some insight to Bandelier. Definitely fill up your containers here with water and slather on another layer of sunscreen; you will need it as it only gets hotter.

The White Rock Visitor Center on Highway 4 is the official gateway to Bandelier National Monument. The Center has lots of staff who are happy to help you with information on how to get around. There are maps, guides, brochures, and invaluable advice along with a big parking lot and clean bathrooms to help you along in your journeys. This visitor center is open seven days per week and on most holidays from 9 – 4 p.m. During the summer season, shuttles to Bandelier run every 20 minutes starting at this location. $ 2.5 million was spent on the White Rock Visitor Center Complex and it’s doors were opened to the public on Sept. 28, 2012. I admired the attractive exterior which presents a very clean and modern image with lots of light wood and stone. The 3,281 square foot Visitor Center was specifically built to serve as the entrance to Bandelier for most visitors,” said a White Rock county official in . «We want to create a welcoming environment that encourages travelers to stop, shop and stay with us. We hope they’ll explore opportunities in White Rock and Los Alamos that exist beyond the national park.» Inside the Tourist Information Center, there were lots of informative displays of the region and it’s topography, climate and history. White Rock has largely been a bedroom community for employees of Los Alamos National Laboratory and their families but the previous occupants of the region included Indian tribes, Pueblo peoples and Spanish settlers. A stop at the Visitors Center is much advised while traveling in this beautiful and most scenic New Mexico area.
