After looking at other, MUCH more expensive tree house getaways, I was thrilled to find Lothlorien Woods, especially because it was so close to great rafting. My son and I stayed a night as part of a large road trip through the West. We enjoyed the hot tub, an evening of cards on the porch and the neighbors’ dogs. My son was amused by the cassette collection and frustrated that the stereo system did not have an auxiliary plug for his iPod, which amused me. I appreciated having access to a kitchen and full bath in the tree house, as well as the comfortable beds. Our only disappointments: (1) the chimes which I loved while playing cards became a menace when the wind picked up at 3a, and (2) the complete privacy I expected was lacking as the front of the tree house overlooks the caretaker’s home. These small nuisances aside, this is absolutely a place I’d return when visiting the area and have already recommended to others.

I had a chance to visit this place twice and both time had a wonderful, quiet and relaxing time. It is family owned and you can feel it (in a good way): small personal touches in décor, friendly dog (I love you Bruiser, thanks for taking all those walks with me !!), candle by the hot tub (yes, this tree house really has a steaming hot tub on the side porch) and so much more. Next time I would like to visit in the winter, I hear they get loads of snow and you can cross-​country ski from the front steps!

My husband and I just returned from a weekend at the treehouse. Just can’t say enough good things about it! The house is unique, secluded and quiet, perfect for a relaxing unplugged retreat. The surrounding area is beautiful as well, but make sure you have 4 wheel drive and/​or chains if heading up in the winter. The house was well stocked and so clean, all we needed to bring was food, clothes and some quiet entertainment. The kitchen has a fridge, microwave, oven and lots of dishes, pans, supplies, etc. The hot tub on the deck was warm and ready when we arrived. They have a few electric heaters, but the main heat source is a wood stove, so brush up on your fire building skills. There is no tv or wifi and limited cell service, but that’s what we had in mind!
