I can’t fathom buying a cake from anyone quite this tactless. When I approached her at the recent B104 Bridal show and started to ask some questions I got pushed off so she could talk with someone else who had a larger wedding than we do. If cake for 100 isn’t enough of a sale, what is it she’s looking for? Having read the other reviews about quality concerns and how other people were treated — I’d have to agree, this ISN’T the place to buy your cake from. Others have worked hard to earn our business and were friendly and have great reviews. This isn’t the place.

I most likely won’t patronize this business if I can help it. I met Michelle at a bridal show. I was excited to taste some of her sample cupcakes there. Tasted two different flavors and was not impressed by either. Both icings had an after taste and the cake was dry. Then, when she asked what my cake plans were for my winter wedding I said I had been at another wedding the previous winter that had pumpkin cheesecake in tiers and we were hoping for that(my husband doesn’t like cake). She gave a weird look and an outright laugh at me. Told me that would never be possible because the whole thing would crumble. Well, obviously it is possible because I had seen it first hand. She then turned a cold shoulder to me and was pretty much trying to end the conversation since I guess what I wanted she was not interested in. About two weeks later my coworker went to a different bridal show and came in to work and said how snobby Michelle seemed there as well! The cakes are beautiful but sorry, other than the cakes being overpriced for the quality, your customer service was horrible. Don’t laugh at what a bride wants no matter how much YOU don’t like the idea.

I was initially excited to hear that Granny Schmidt’s bought out all the recipes from Matilda’s bakery. The excitement stops there. We ordered a chocolate cake with peanut butter filling for a birthday party the cake was over baked and dry the owner paid no attention to our requests on decorating and just did what she wanted. The buttercream was greasy and tasteless. It’s a shame they purchased magnolias recipes and obviously can’t read or listen to the clients requests. Go to village bake shoppe in allentown they do a much better job!

My husband and I ordered our wedding cake from Granny Schmidt’s. Vanilla with coconut with buttercream icing. It was delish! oh and looked great too. The pricing was in line or better than other bakeries that we visited. About a month out, I was able to add a surprise groom’s cake that was so much better than I ever expected. It was chocolate peanut butter with fondant for the decoration. I would recommend doing business here if you are looking for an easy experience and beautiful and tasty cakes!

When my wife and I met Michelle at a Bridal expo she was the most attentive of all the other cake vendors. And her cake was fabulous. When we had our consultation we had an idea of what we wanted, she showed us some pictures and what not but seemed genuinely excited for our wedding. So, I can’t see how anyone felt they got bad service ! We tried 2 kinds of cakes, turtle flavor to match our theme. It was much too rich and Vanilla/Chocolate with raspberry cream filling and the most fabulous butter cream icing in the Valley. We chose cake number two. She didn’t try to up sell us either. So, perhaps she learned a thing or two about customer service. I don’t know but we were very pleased. By the time the wedding came around, the cake looked beautiful and everyone thought it tasted out of this world. So, we would definitely use her again.

I totally agree with Molly F. Of all of the vendors we dealt with for my daughter’s wedding, Michele was the most joyless and condescending. Her main concern was where the cake was going to be placed at the reception, how and when it should be cut, and to make sure we ordered a larger size(even though we were having other desserts). She really took the fun out of choosing a cake flavor and design. The cake did look very pretty but… the taste was a disappointment. The cake was somewhat dry and the raspberry filling overly sweet. All in all, not very impressed with Granny Schmidt’s and her award winning cakes!

I’m writing this based on our consultation and cake tasting. Michelle is a doll. She’s a total sweetheart and I know it’s no excuse, but maybe Molly F met her on a bad day? My fiancé and I arrived super early, so early that we interrupted her previous client. She made sure to make us feel welcome despite our interruptions and urged us to have a seat. She was kind, patient, and addressed both my fiancé and I as equals. She didn’t force any cake photos or Today Show videos on us, merely asked us what we thought the cake would look like and went with it. Maybe if we had showed more indecision with our choices, but our request was pretty simple. She seemed pretty pumped about it and offered different suggestions on things from flower choice to suggesting other vendors for things. Again, Michelle was incredibly nice and super happy to meet us. The cake is pretty good, the prices are average. The office is a bit small, so I would advise against bringing an entire posse with you, though. Be prepared to take cake home! We got an individual little round cake of each we requested to taste

Wow. For someone who is in the business of creating delicious, fun memories, the woman who run’s this business was one of the most joyless people I have ever met. We got to Granny Schmidt’s with high hopes of finding our wedding cake and left feeling slighted and extremely taken aback by the entire experience. From the moment we walked into the«bakery» we were made to feel like the woman who ran the place(her name escapes me) was doing US a favor by giving us her time. Rather than introducing herself to all of us, she immediately assumed that I, as the bride, was running the show and didn’t even bother to address my then-fiancé. She just called him«your fiancé» the whole time… even though both he & my mom were sitting right there the whole time. She also treated my mom so incredibly rudely I was shocked she actually has a steady business… who did she think was writing the check?! She actually went so far as to make a big production about how late we were in booking a baker because they get booked so quickly… when were were a YEAR out. After showing us many fondant cakes that were the exactly the opposite of what we wanted, she paraded a bunch of photos of her cakes on the Today show in front of us, and finally put her cake in front of us to taste. The cake was eh — and it certainly wasn’t even remotely good enough for us to be treated so poorly. Wedding planning is supposed to be a fun, friendly, exciting time for families… anyone looking for this type of experience should look elsewhere. Sugar, butter and flour to not mix well with condescension and their recipe is just all wrong.
