Go as often as possible. Great staff, product and the lounge has a great atmosphere with the mural of Jerry. A great addition to Whitehouse!

I’ve been here a few times now and give them high praises for the great selection of fresh roasted coffee and styled they have. I have become a fan of their pour over, it takes a little longer to prepare, worth the wait! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I have always gotten coffee to go, they have nice places to sit and talk, read, get work done, cozy. Enjoy!

Love the beans here and don’t buy anything else. Heartbroken though that you’ve switched from Organic Valley Grassfed milk and cream to Kings store brand.

When I traveled to Italy a few months ago I coined their coffee as the best coffee I have ever had. When I found this place and tried their coffee I was immediately back on vacation. The coffee here is the best I’ve had in NJ

Mixed experience first time here. Roasting their own beans on site. 1) no syrups let alone sugar free so those who like sweet lattes are out of luck. 2) menu is small which is good but a little confusing the first time, the cold brew and slow pour are both cold coffees and I ended up ordering one by mistake expecting a hot coffee(I thought cold brew was a step in the roasting process not actually a cold coffee — might seem obvious in hindsight but it wasn’t when standing in front of the menu). They were happy to change it to a simple Nicaraguan roast but they didn’t offer to give back the $ 1+ price difference, I had to ask. Coffee itself was very good, light with no bitterness.

Great coffee, yummy croissants and friendly counter people. It is wonderful to have a great place near by to purchase fresh roasted GOOD coffee. There is plenty of room to relax and enjoy the coffee. This has become our local coffee shop.

What else do you need to know, they make a damned good cup of coffee. Bypass Starbucks and Dunkin’, and pay Black River a visit. After turning onto RT22 and heading West, fiancé expressed an extreme desire for a cup of coffee, looked up and there like Mecca, a giant coffee cup! Picked up 2 lbs. of their Roastmaster’s Blend to bring home, spicy & delicious, and $ 15 bucks a lb. Try it you’ll like it. Added plus, friendly yet mildly apathetic, bearded 20 somethings behind counter, will make you feel like you’re in any major metropolitan hub. ;)

stumbled across this café by accident. Was driving along Rt. 22 looking for Coffee when i saw their Gigantic«COFFEE» sign on top of the roof. You can’t miss it. lol. When I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly staff. The décor is really nice. It’s got a rustic/industrial vibe. They roast their own coffee on site, so it’s neat to see all the machinery. They have a large space in the back where you can drink your coffee, do work, or catch up with friends. Definitely will be back.

This place puts Starbucks to shame! The coffee is amazing, and the staff is so friendly. One of the best lattes I’ve ever had. Will defiantly become a regular now that I know about this place. You must stop by! You’ll be hooked!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, comfortable space to do work or catch up with friends. I appreciate the transparency of BRR’s roasting process, with the roasting process open to the café/lounge area. The nitro coffee is a must try. A negative was that the espresso I ordered was a tad more acidic than expected; I was told by a staff member that they lightly roast their beans. Overall a great alternative to the big coffee chains in the area. If you are looking to explore and learn more about coffee, this is the place for you.

Went to the open house on September 25th with my family, and was very impressed! The cold brew I had was smooth and tasty. I had the mixed berry scone, which was delicious. I especially appreciated the atmosphere of the entire place. Very relaxing and comfortable. I immediately wanted to tell all my friends about this place!

Was so happy to finally find a local café in our town that wasn’t Starbucks, and I must say the coffee was really good and the lounge beautiful. This would have been a four star review but was knocked down a notch because of service. Behind the counter were 2 of the most unfriendly men who didn’t smile or say thank you, who almost grudgingly brought us our coffees, and who looked annoyed when I asked for cream. Mind you I smiled, said my please and thank yous like my mama taught me. When the kids at Starbucks give better customer service than a smalltown café establishing it’s name, there’s a problem. You also need to nurture that aspect of the business to survive, i hope that is not forgotten here.

Great coffee! Very cool place to have coffee and a nice room in the back for small business meetings. They get local food from Bex Kitchens in Califon which is top notch.

I would do anything to avoid Starbucks and this came up in my search so we have it a try and did not regret it. One of the best espressos I’ve ever had. I would have paid double for it. Very new and clean place. Staff are very nice too.

Great little stop along our road trip. Was initially looking for a Starbucks, but came across this place and glad we did! They had a great sitting space and a wonderful roaster in the back. The staff was friendly and helpful. I got an organic ginger green tea and quinoa breakfast bar for around $ 7. Both delicious and hit the spot for a quick treat!

Outside is interesting — half store, half house. Neatly-groomed gravel lot, just off of Rt 22 West. Staff was very friendly and knowledgable. Facility was immaculate — partly due to being new(2 months) but I’m sure the staff is on top of things, too. You can see the area where they roast and pack the coffee. Lots of informational posters on the wall. Upstairs is a spacious, airy area where you can read, chill, drink/eat, etc. The a/c worked quite well on this hot day. I intend to return to buy some beans in the near future, and maybe hang for a spell upstairs. Perhaps after I’ve sampled other offerings it may warrant a 5(1 cup = insufficient data).

Black River Roasters offers divine coffee served by a friendly and knowledgable team. My first visit, the staff offered me tastes of different brews and explained the flavor profile of each. I appreciate their passion and dedication to delicious coffee. I’m a fan!
