This was a nice place when they were serving lunch… They had a great lunch menu with really good home cooking but they stopped serving lunch back in May… They’re pies are not very good, the crust is thick and heavy not light and flaky like you want a crust to be

I stopped by Mamaw’s Fried Pies on a Friday morning and found a pleasant surprise… fried pies that were outstanding! My wife and I were traveling with her mother and we were ready for a sweet treat. Imagine flakey crust that is pleasantly crisp without being greasy, and fruit fillings that are a perfect balance of sweet and tart. The pies at Mamaw’s were all this and more. We sampled apricot, cherry, pecan, coconut and apple fruit pies and my wife enjoyed a breakfast pie of bacon, egg & cheese. All were great and very filling. The service was quick and friendly and the owner, who owns the shop with her twin sister, sat with us for a bit and told the history of the business. Mamaw’s is named after the owners’ mother and uses her recipes. This is a great East Texas find!
