They are usually nice but today was a different story. I sat there for 30 minutes before I had to get up 3 different times to asked if someone would take my order. When she did come to my table, she simply said«what do you want». I expressed how rude she was and the fact that she didn’t apologize.

Food was bland. No seasoning on the shrimp fajitas. Bland quest. Not at all like a typical Mexican food flavor.

This is my FAVORITE Mexican restaurant in Nashville! I ABSOLUTELY love the margaritas. They have all the great flavors, peach, strawberry, mango, but they don’t water them down. Also, the food is wonderfully seasoned. My favorite food item is the Gringa, and I like to get it added with sautéed onions and pepper, which are always seasoned perfectly. And all the wait staff is amazing and helpful. If you want good Mexican food, good drinks, and a fun atmosphere, please go check out El Rey Azteca!

My girls and I decided to meet at El Rey’s on a Friday night at 6 pm and many of the tables were already full. We walked in, was greeted, and seated immediately. Our server spoke minimal english but was attentive to our large party. She promptly took our drink orders and gave us four bowls of chips and salsa to share. ***Please be advised the drinks are strong so be mindful of your alcohol tolerance. *** Since I was driving I ordered a small frozen mango margarita and it was delicious. For those non-driving individuals I recommend the large glass to get your monies worth or a pitcher to share otherwise; if you are driving or have a low sensitivity to alcohol order the small or better yet just stick to water. I decided to order the chicken taco salad and it was filling but just ok(refer to the picture). It had way too much sour cream, watery at the bottom, and the bowl tasted slightly burnt but it was edible. Honestly I have had better so I will stick to my usual Mexican preferred entrees fish or shrimp tacos or chicken enchiladas from now on. By this time it was almost 7 pm and the drinks were settling in and voices began to escalate around the restaurant. Two security guards began to walk the aisles asking patrons to lower their voices. I must say they were nice about it. The female restroom was clean but the non-handicapped stall is so small that you have to hold your chin up while squatting so that your face won’t touch the door. I made it back to the table as the server started dispersing the checks and mine came to $ 12.01. All in all it is a great spot for groups that offers reasonable priced food and a wide selection of beverages and Happy Hour specials. Security is present to keep order as I have seen that most people can’t control their alcohol and will be escorted off of the premises if need be.

We were just coming home on a road trip and stopped in. The San Luis Quesadilla and carnitas were great. We should have split something since the portions are huge. We went and got ice so we could bring the food home since it was SO good. It smelled wonderful when we walked in. The service was a bit slow, but the wonderful food made up for it.

I attempted to give El Reys another try. This was before Security is scheduled to report(before 5PM). Needless to say, they were very stoic and unfriendly. I only ordered a drink and it took them a while to wait our table and there was only one other table with customers. I will never return to this place, they will not get another dime from me.

One word describes this place perfectly: TERRIBLE! Service was god awful, chips were extremely stale, you had to pretty much tackle the waiter to get a refill on your drink or chips, he was maybe the most unfriendly person I have ever met. The hot food we ordered wasn’t hot. It wasn’t even right. We ordered bean dip as an appetizer and we didn’t get it until he brought our food. $ 30 down the drain to say the least. Can’t believe this place is even open!

My favorite Mexican joint in all of Nashville! Happy Hour is a 6 hour affair($ 2.50 margaritas) and the food is great! I highly recommend the fajita quesadilla, but the chimichangas get the job done as well as.

One thing only — Mango Margarita — awesome. The food is the usual slop disguised as food that people like because the alternative to eat locally is all fast food. Surly service. If you are passing by on a road trip then drink only.

My extended family stopped in for dinner here on December 9th. We had not seen each other for a while. We live in Nashville and Clarksville so this was a good middle point. The food was barely acceptable. Kind of boring. But the big surprise was that everyone at that table came down with the flu the following Tuesday. Really? Working sick is stupid, not heroic people! You prepare food!

Solid 4 star restaurant because of their food, their portions(quite large), and the care and effort they put into their restaurant. If you look closely, it really is quite impressive. I had the sincronazada based on one Unilocalers photo, and it was really good. It was kinda like getting two quesadillas for the price of one. Very filling and definitely will be back.

I know that there are tons of great Mexican joints in the Nashville area, but this place is close to much of what I come to town for(gigs and a place to crash.) It smells a little funny(so does every Chili’s — the very same smell, in fact) and the service is usually either surly or indifferent, but the food and drinks are great.(Today’s waiter reminded me of a Mexican Igor.) Chips come out hot and the salsa is chunky, flavorful and freshly made. Nice atmosphere, happy hour pricing(2 — 9 pm? That’s a happy day!) and decent prices make this a no-brainer — as long as you don’t mind the staff. Peculiar folk(as I’m sure they feel the same about me.) I had the Pollo Acapulco(a grilled chicken breast topped with chorizo and cheese sauce. Served with rice, beans and guacamole salad.). Seriously good and they didn’t even charge me for the extra cilantro. Needless to say, I’ll be back. Maybe next time, I’ll get a server who has a bit of joy in their hearts.
