I’m a fan of this place. I’ve been going ere for the last year. Soup dumplings and scallion pancakes are very good. The kids love them. The other dishes are very good also. One of the best parts is you don’t have to fight for parking and the crowds in Flushing and Main St. The restaurant use to have gift certificates; you pay $ 350 to $ 400 for a $ 500 gift card. I have a $ 500 gift card. I recently found out the restaurant changed ownership and they will only honor the gift cards until Jun 15, 2016. Needless to say I was there with a bunch of friends last night and spent $ 200 on food and drinks. I have the next 3 weeks to spend the rest of the gift card. They also changed the name to Sun(New) King Noodle, not much different other than the new owners putting the word«SUN» on the canopy. The food from the new chef was tastier than the old chef. We thought the soup dumplings were better. Although if you like spicier dishes you have to tell the waiter to make it so. The wife was OK with the less spicier food.

Came with my 3 kids on recommendation from friend. Expected goodfood, got great food. Beef noodle soup with red pepper sauce was amazing. Chunks of tender beef in amazing broth. Spicy but even 4 yr old tolerated it because it wasn’t just hot but also amazing flavor. Then had soup dumplings. Kids fought over last one. I swear I never had proper soup dumplings until today. They’ve raised the bar for me. Then finally another noodle diah. This time crispy noodle with chicken and plenty of veggies. Everything split between one adult and 3 kids. Completely satisfying, great portions and high quality cooking. I’ll be back and will rave about this place to my friends. Share the love;)

We came here in search of soup dumplings on a cold winters day. It was a new place that I came across on Unilocal so we decided to try it. The soup dumplings are legit. No need to travel to traffic filled Main Street Flushing or Manhattan Chinatown for decent soup dumplings. They also specialize in spicy Chinese food. I tried the spicy tofu and fish filet dish. It has a delicious red fiery sauce and came in very large portion. I ended up bringing it home and adding even more pan fried fish filet and tofu so I could make the sauce go even longer. It tasted great the next day for lunch. There isn’t a parking lot but street posting want hard to find. We have only give there in the winter and it was still cold even inside the restaurant. They need to turn up the heat s little bit.

I am surprised by the lack of excitement and average reviews about King Noodle. King Noodle is definitely one of my favorites in the area for now and I can say good bye to all the headaches navigating downtown Flushing for parking spot. Food is authentic and servers are friendly and helpful. Love the egg yoke stir fried crad and rice cake!

Ordered delivery tonight from King Noodle, took about an hour but I figured as much. The wait was worth it. The food arrived hot and delicious. Here’s what we ordered tonight. #28 Fried bun stuffed with juicy pork — amazing. #100 lamb with ginger & scallion — also amazing. #80 shredded eel in hot & spicy sauce, a little too much oil but tasty. Sautéed baby Bok Choy — loved it. # 50 Shang Hai spicy pork noodle soup — my favorite dish, I’ve had it five times and the pork is so tasty. # 66 Shang Hai special fried thick noodles — too bland and pasty tasting. I recommend King Noodle. The food is fresh, not the average run of the mill Chinese Restaurant.

We had such high hopes for this place. It has easy parking and we didn’t have to go into flushing. When we went a few months ago the dumplings and the pan-fried buns we’re fresh, juicy and delicious. But when we went back today because we had a craving for the juicy buns, the experience was totally different. There was hardly any liquid inside the buns. The shell was hard and dry. I was able to pick up the dumplings with my chopsticks without fear of bursting it. There was nothing to leak and the skin was not soft. It looks like they either changed management or chefs. Will have to think twice about returning. So sad.

Went with mom and bf on Sunday around noon and it was completely empty. A couple of calls for pickups and deliveries but no other diners till 1pm so we were a bit worried but it was actually pretty great. The restaurant is pretty big and has both shanghai and sichuan cuisines. For most of this meal, we focused on the Shanghai cuisine. Will try more of their Sichuan food next time. We ordered the cold dishes of seitan and sesame fish with a sweet sauce. Both really good. ~$ 5 – 6 per dish. Some bones in the fish but it was very chewy — almost like a fish jerky. Quantity was plenty to share amongst 3 adults. Then we had an order of the pork pan fried buns(6 in an order). They are made by an old lady behind the glass windows. The buns were awesome. The meat was okay. Not the out-of-this-world type of great, but pretty good since it’s freshly made, nicely seared on the bottom with a good crisp. For main entrees, we got Shanghai thick stir fried noodle ~$ 6.50 and it had cabbage, spinach, mushroom and pork strips. The noodles were toothy and oily and yummy! Also got lions head(3 big meat balls with bok choys) and an eel with bamboo shoots and white chives, and spicy chili chicken(my favorite!). The chicken were boneless and deep fried with a delicious crisp. Came with crunchy spicy peanuts. It is made with sichuan peppercorn so it’s got a bit of numbing heat. The total for the meal was ~$ 80 with plenty of leftovers.

Ugh, don’t come here. No kitchen ventilation(very smoky in the dining area and they do not have an open kitchen), very heavy on the salt, and unbelievably slow and rude service. Do yourself a favor and just go to Flushing.

We came on a Thurs evening for dinner. The dining room was semi-filled with the dinner crowd so they seem to have a loyal following. After the first round of diners left, the place really emptied out. We ordered the steamed buns, eggplant and string beans, lamb with ginger and scallion, and a soup dish. The steamed buns do not compare to what you get from Joe’s Shanghai but I wasn’t really expecting that for $ 5.50 for 6. You get what you pay for. The eggplant and string beans dish was very tasty. If I come back, I’m definitely ordering this again. The lamb dish was decent. Not quite to my taste but others at my table thought it was very good. The soup was delicious and tasted homemade. This place had a real mom and pop feel to it. The food was decent, the price was very affordable but the service could have been better. If I lived around here, I may keep this in rotation but the food wasn’t good enough to substantiate a longer drive when there are so many other restaurants closer to me.

I’m glad there is a real authentic Shanghainese restaurant outside of the busy downtown Flushing area. There’s plenty of parking around. Not only do they have tasty entrees but also authentic Shanghainese dim sum that is available all day long.

I placed an order to pick up. Originally got the pan fried noodles with vegetables no meat and the steamed vegetables with tofu. The pan fried noodles was raw ramen noodles. With vegetables on the side. I was so confused and called the restaurant. The lady told me pan fried noodles was crispy noodle…(raw ramen). I asked to exchange for soft noodles and they made me a vegetable lo mein. The noodles are chopped up but they have good taste(salty but good) They get four stars for their hospitality and wanted to make our experience better.

This place has really changed since they first opened up. All the good food and wait staff has dramatically changed. I went here yesterday for mothers day dinner, ordered 2 soup dumplings. When the waiter gave us the food, the cook who makes the dumplings runs over to our table, grabs the soup dumplings and yells at US because she feels the other table was missing an order. First off, a cook should not be in the dining area, nor should she touch anyones food once its on the table and most importantly, YELL at the customer for it being on their table. Its not like i walked into the kitchen and grabbed the dish for our table! The waiter brought it to us. If you felt the need to regulate who gets what, tell the waiter that they made a mistake! The cook continues to yell and argue at… I have no idea, she already took our dish off our table… The whole restaurant was on awe! The waiters and cashiers have all changed. They are certainly not the brightest wait staff. Ive seen better service at boston market. NONE of them tried to calmn the cook down from screaming on top of her lungs while the all the customers were trying to eat and enjoy MOTHERSDAY. I really had high hopes for this place when they first opened. BUT, the food has changed for the worse flavorwise, the wait staff is horrible and inattentive, the female cook should be fired for what she had done. I will never come back here and will tell everyone i possibly can including posting on social media to stay away from this place. I hope king noodle closes its doors like all the other failed restaurants that occupied this location.

I popped by here with a group of friends and family to see what the hype was about. Seamless available, too. Service was quick to seat us, and take a quick order of drinks and appetizers. They had a lot of different cold appetizer food in the cool display, and a lady making the xiaolongbao right in the glass-encased space to let people watch, the kids had fun watching. The food we tried: * Fried Fish with Sesame: Dark and slathered in a rich soy, this wasn’t a bad start though watch for the bones * Kau Fu: I’ve had better. Not sweet and not strong enough savory, and the peanuts needed to be cooked longer * Stir Fry Shepherd’s Purse with Dried Tofu: Reasonable and solid version of this cold dish * Szechuan Dan-Dan Noodle — they brought out some dish that wasn’t it, and tried to recover by just throwing some red spicy oil on top. Not tasty, not Dan-Dan noodle, not spicy * Shanghai Steamed Bun Stuffed with Juicy Pork: Meat wasn’t quite savory enough, but the outside bun was good with the vinegar * Shredded Eel in Hot Spicy Sauce: This wasn’t too spicy, but it was filled with white pepper — tasty, and savory * Fried Rice Noodles: Udon was sticky and falling apart, making the whole noodle dish somewhat falling apart * Shredded Eel Noodles: Originally brought us just a bowl of the soup base and no eel. Hm. The topping when it came out on a plate was the same as the shredded eel dish above, and was quite tasty on the top — the soup base wasn’t exciting, but oh, well Overall mixed bag — service was apologetic for their mistakes, the szechuan wasn’t spicy, and the dishes underwhelmed… I will try another set one day, if I pass by the neighborhood. At least the parking isn’t too bad if you’re around the area, lots of residential parking available off the main street.

The hits just keep on coming as my Thursday lunch venture took my neighbor(Jimmy) and I to the Whitestone area as opposed to our Flushing tendancys. One of the great pleasures I always enjoy, is viewing the surprise lunch dishes that appear before me every time we go out. All orders go through him, spoken in his native tounge. I prefer this process as he has quite the palate and people ‘hop too’ when he speaks. Unfortunately, my neighbors English is about as good as my Chinese, so conversations rarely have much context nor content, but we enjoy eachothers company none the less. –Shang Hai Steamed Bun w/Juicy Pork was my favorite of our multiple dishes. A light drizzle of the scallion soy sauce and down they went, I wish we had doubled up on that order. Truely a menu item fit for Shanghai upper crust. FYI The fact that I knew the proper way to eat them drew quite the quiet accolades. –Scallion Pancakes were bursting with the green herbs almost to excess, light and crisp in texture. –Fish in Brown Sauce is where we went a little sideways. The fish appeared to be tilapia, flakey yet ample in texture but a bit fishy on the finish. The brown sauce was quite rich and transitioned oddly due to it’s thickness on such a delicate fish. –Fish and Spicey Tofu differs little from the Tofu Fish Filet in look and taste, considering I doused my plate in the side of hot sauce on previously on the table. Once my neighbor was in route to the john, I inquired to the Mao shirted server as to what dishes we had just ordered, knowing full well to ask Jimmy would be quote the undertaking. No matter what I say he smiles and answers«Oh,… really?» But the server provided no furthering of my knowledge base of what we had just eaten. It was at that moment a tall slender gentleman, the owner possibly emerged from the back to answer my question and then shoot the server a look that could kill.

Food was ok, nothing specifically memorable. Good enough to make a second visit. Cons: On the first visit they gave out menus with a 20% off coupon offer with purchase of $ 100 or more, expiration date: 12÷31÷14. Our second visit was early December 2014. When it was time to pay the bill, we asked about the 20% off deal. We were told that it was a misprint! Bad business sense.

The big draw, at least from the outside of the restaurant, are the soup dumplings and juicy buns, which are both excellent. This restaurant has a fairly extensive menu, including Shanghai and Szechuan dishes, as well as a small selection of Chinese takeout staples, so there should be something appealing for most everyone. Each dish tried so far has been good-to-excellent, no misses. I look forward to trying more of the dishes on the menu over future visits. If going on a colder day, ask for a table away from the door. There’s no weather door outside of the entrance and you may get a cold gust of wind when folks open the door on the way in and out. The restaurant compensates with plenty of heat, but you’ll notice the cold if you’re close to the door. Overall, this place is definitely worth a try if you’re in the area.

We got there first and the server acknowledge the people that came after us but luckily we sat at a secluded table. I love the Chairman Mao Zedong printed shirts that the servers were wearing… very unique! My dad was joking with the servers if they were any real Shanghainese people working here and one was suggesting and taking our orders. Appetizer: Fried Fish w. Sesame, Boiled Steam Chicken(chicken was very tender and love the dipping sauce), and Steamed Bun Stuffed w. Juicy Pork & Crab Meat(I found a new love outside of Joe’s Shanghai Steamed Buns and its super close to my house) Entrée: Boiled Sauteed Beef in Hot & Spicy Sauce(I thought I can take heat but this dish was HOT and delicious with a bowl of white rice), Ta Cai w. Garlic, and Shrimp w. Scallions The owner sat at the table next to us and chatted with my parents about random stuff. He was friendly and was happy that I was going to write this review to talk about our dining experience tonight. We were extremely stuffed and took some home with us. The owner showed my parents and me that there are KTV rooms downstairs as well. Definitely you should stop by for lunch and dinner!
