I travel a lot, when anywhere near Chicago I make the trek to The Office. Every single time I am there I get treated like family and I see most everyone else does as well. Bartenders are quick, funny and go out of their way to introduce people. Music’s at the right level and there’s always a fun vibe.

Went in with friends late night after bartending at an event and was repeatedly insulted by the owner, who I now know is named Jason. At first the door was closed, probably because it was late, but the bouncer let me and a couple of friends in. The owner came by the door and I wanted to introduce myself because I’m not from Whiting and I thought it was cool they let us in even though it was late. Then out of nowhere, the owner starts yelling in my face, «you come to my bar and you don’t even know who I am? I got so many girls coming here who all know who I am, who are trying to get in, and you don’t even know my fucking name?» I even apologized and said I wasn’t from the area, but I’d like to know his name and gave him mine. And he just kept on going off about how could I not know him, that we can go to another bar down the street. And the Office wasn’t even full!!! We could see there were a handful of men sitting at the bar, when other bars down the street were crazy packed. Now I know why nobody wants to go there. None of my friends from that area are ever going there again either. Jason’s behavior was disgusting, and I’m sure the bar matches the owner.

Jason, our bartender, also owner of the establishment, was the best bartender I’ve ever had. He made us a bunch of interesting shots and mix drinks that we’d never had before. It was a slow night(Tuesday and frigid cold) and our party of 8 were among the only people in the bar. Jason was entertaining and helped us have a great time. It was my girlfriends birthday and he treated us like royalty. Played some song requests and kept the bar open later than he would have otherwise. Will definitely be coming back here when I’m in the area. This was one of the most enjoyable bars I’ve been to. The place is super clean and very modern.

Orginally from the area, moved to Chicago and come back occasionally. When I come back I go to The Office. It’s a great bar, great people and best of all amazing times, do I need to say more? Well worth your visit, the staff is friendly and you definitely will not regret your time there.

Its dead on weekdays and over packed on weekends. If you dont fit in with the were better than everyone crowd they will throw you out. Kind of pretentious owner and a bit of a creepy. My Brother got thrown out for yelling at the TV during a football game over a bum call. The drinks are also over priced and the bartenders have been know to slip the single ladies a roofie. be careful Girls.

The bathrooms are kept stunning, much like Old Glory’s. The whole place has a real nice look to it, very modern. It’s look is classy compared to the other bars in the area. They have this interactive trivia game that you play on tv with thousands of other people around the country, and it’s awesome. That game is by far the best reason to go to this bar. The owner and bartenders are very friendly. Unfortunately though, overall there are far superior bars. On weekends you have to get there early or else forget it. The last time I went there, I took my girlfriend and we walked right back out because not only was there no seating but you couldn’t stand comfortably, it was so jam packed you feel like a sardine in there. I can’t stand being in places that get like that personally. If you go real early on a weekday I’m sure it can be fun to just sit and play the trivia game. I pretty much prefer the game over the bar itself though. It’s alright to chill at, but not to go party at.
