The popcorn is real tough. Coronas are too expensive. But we come back for the people watching. Like a bunch of sideshow freaks in here.

I’ve been told this bar has new ownership since my last visit. I’m going to have to give them another chance, hope it’s better this time.

Theres free pool oj mondays and every night theres different drink specials! Check them out on facebook or instagram! Theres also lots of food places nearby where u can just order and theyll deliver to u at the bar! It was remodeled in may and definitely worth checking out

There’s security when you first walk up to the place. They pat you down and check your purse. Walked in and it was just wayy too loud in there, now i’m not old whatsoever, i’m 21 but come on. If I want loud music and to scream at a friend just so they can somewhat hear me, I would’ve gone to a damn club or something. There was seating at the bar and some tables and stools. One pool table as well. And worst of all, they served our beer in red solo cups. Really?! I’m at a damn bar, I expect that there would be glassware right? Or am I just asking too much? Not. Won’t go here again. Bottom line: If you’re looking for a bar to just chill in, this is not it.

I went to to Animal Crackers for the first and last time the other day. The thing that shocked me the most, was that they serve the draft beer in REDSOLOCUPS… REDSOLOCUPS in a bar. Another issue was the DJ, he was playing good music but it was too damn loud! I’m a young dude, I don’t mind loud music, but when its hurting my ears and i need to shout at my buddies who are half a foot away just to tell them something is ridiculous. It would be different if there was a live band and it was that loud, but it wasn’t. Bars are social places and I want to be able to be social with people by talking to them, and not by lip reading.

Glad to see people are posting updated reviews. You definitely need to check this place out if you’re a local. It’s newly renovated and the owner is a really chill guy. Always good deals on drinks and a good crowd. Only thing needed would probably be a few more tables or beer pong.

So, first time here. New owners. Remodeled. Great liquor and beer selection. Then I walk into the women’s restroom. Ladies please, bartenders please, cleaning lady please, clean the damn restroom. Toilet, floor and mirror is clean but u can see it never been dusted, wiped down properly and the brand new sink looks like a muddy toddler bathed in it… this was at 7pm. Not sure I wanna come back… ONLY lure would b the beer and liquor selection.

Amazing. The place has had a face lift with new staff. If you been here before… you need to re-visit The Animal Cracker because the place is looking great.

I have never written a Unilocal review about a bar that has had a tragic ending. As for me I want to bring a remembrance of a great time that I am extremely appreciative of. For me the bad news came when my brother told me the owner Jony of Animal Crackers had died(3÷22÷2013). As for Jony I will not cry but I will thank her. I will remember a time in my life(From 2009 – 2010) when I lived with my brother for a year. Financially this was the hardest, scariest and most nerve racking time in my life and living with my brother saved everything that made me a human being. In that year that I lived with him we would go to Animal Crackers. Coming here allowed me to forget momentarily about my problems. Yes, sometimes we drank ourselves into a stupor but the people I met there, the live music and the good times we had will last a lifetime. I would like to thank you Jony for being there in my time of needed uplift. May you rest in peace.

OMG, what a dive! John Taffer from Bar Rescue couldn’t save this place. Bar stools are falling apart, crappy tables with plastic patio chairs inside and VERY expensive drinks. A bottle of domestic beer & a call drink was $ 9. First & last time I’ll go in.

Upon coming to Animal Crackers one is struck by the cartoon depiction of a drunken elephant hoisting itself upright on a lamp post while hoisting a stein, and by all that’s righteous, this little dive does its utmost to recreate this comedic situation inside. From the motley crew of regulars, feisty and efficient bar lady, and the curious people who stop in and become regulars, this bar offers something for everyone. Rarely does a dive combine the four elements in such a perfect way as this one, as 1) the prices are rock bottom cheap, 2) they have karaōke, live music(rock!), and dance nights, 3) are walking distance to another bar, adult entertainment store, 24 hr eats, and 4) the staff are just awesome. Animal Crackers may not look like much to many, but it is a true diamond in the rough for those who brave drinking a stein’s worth of ale or beer(very cheap!), I am a fan of karaōke(fri) nights here, and live music(sat) nights, as both nights have offered me limitless opportunities to have a great time with friends and new acquaintances alike. A pair of bathrooms, some pool tables, and a nice selection of beers make this little hole in the wall a veritable oasis in the La Mirada/Whittier/La Habra area. Worth three steins of Newcastle absolutely.

this place is a dive bar for sure. I have been here twice. First time it was fine, no issue. tonight stopped here and a white supremacist started telling me and my friend racist jokes. Man, that was uncomfortable. We finished our drinks and got the hell out of there. I guess thats the chance you take going to dive bars.

this place is a dive, and a dump. why didn’t i give it one star then? because that is sort of the charm that goes along with most dive bars. if you want to get drunk in a semi-shady bar… this is the place to go.

Gave the place a three strikes shot and they are now out of my search for my local bar. showed up on the Apr. 10th for bartender said a awesome band playing. they were almost ok for a 80’s to 90’s heavy metal band. It just got sadder as I stayed that night for to see 40 – 60’s people just sit around and drink was hard. It almost was as sad as the bar at the VFW hall my dad use to take me when I was a kid. your out!

This place is great. Why? Because you can get five(strong) gin and tonics, one white Russian and one beer for less than twenty bucks. Olé! The bartenders are sweet and make your guy friends feel uncomfortable by pointing out how much more you can drink than them. And they don’t mind if you bring in «outside food». Best dive in the area!

We have fun here! A little dive bar. Pool tables Jukebox and a hole in the wall at a strip mall. it’s close to an AMPM& Weinerschniztel & Little Caesars, Not far from the Whittwood Mall. Bartenders are nice and friendly! They’ll drink right along with you! Go hang out and tell me what you think of Animal Crackers! –Laura Lynn
