Soooooo good!!! They just need to get there shipment ordering on point. They are late a lot and the staff is questionable. The taste is top notch though.

We tried this out walking home from the bank one day to see what all the fuss what about… Emmy Doo’s is amazing! We each got an ice cream sandwich(you get to customize them with whichever cookies and ice cream you want). They were huge! I couldn’t even finish mine. Of course my husband finished his before we got home, but that was because it was so good! The girl working there was very sweet and helped me pick out my ice cream as a first-timer. We will definitely be returning!

Cookies were close to bad. Seriously, this place would have made Famous Amos proud. Ice cream was just plain average. Even with their trying-to-be-different flavors, like Animal Cracker, we weren’t impressed. When you put the two together, you’ve got a sad ice cream sandwich. Now for the add-ins! Add in the bored, whatever-I’m-off-my-shift-soon workers. Add in the fact that there were no labels for any of the flavors. So you have ask, «What about that one?» over and over. Add in the tiny portions. Add in the fact that it’s freakin’ ICECREAM, guys. You really have to TRY to disappoint with it. Final result? Right about a 2-star dessert choice. Maybe even slightly less. I don’t know why I did the whole«add in» thing with this review. Maybe I’ve eaten too much ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery. In fact, that’s probably where we should have gone again instead of Emmy Doo’s.

Fresh baked cookies and delicious ice cream by a non profit organization supporting schools! It’s simple, it’s cute, and it’s mouth watering!

«i’ve got an idea! let’s make cookies for the kids!» -«no, no, no… not enough of a heart attack risk… I KNOW! we’ll add cookies to the ice cream!» and thus– Emmy Doo’s was born.

This is such a cute little spot! I live in the area and it’s constantly changing, but I’m a sucker for cookies and ice cream so I had to come in and try it. I’ve been here three times already. Their cookie sandwiches are the greatest little snack to eat anytime of day. You can pick up two different kinds of cookies along with two different ice flavors for your sandwich! They’re only like $ 3 too. Staff seems to be made up of young kids, but they’re nice regardless. Stop by, you won’t regret it :)

Ice cream sandwich is really good! I don’t like how they ask you if you would like to donate money every time your paying. I bought 2 cones so I decided to donate the first time. I had to wait for my cookies to cool down for my ice cream sandwich then when I paid the second time she ask if I would like to donate my change. I said of course since it only change but, come on… chick everytime! I figured since I’m getting 10% off for using my Unilocal why not. Pay it forward. Oh they had no cookies n cream or pistachio or vanilla ice cream???

We came here for the first time today. The workers were very nice and let us know they are known for their ice cream sandwiches. I tried the rocky road with the chocolate chip and macadamia cookie combination. It was delicious! The price was great too, only $ 3.00 and 10% off with the Unilocal check in. We will be back soon!

I’m in Whittier pretty often as of lately. Today I decided to walk around and see some of the neighboring stores that I haven’t visited yet. **THESETTING** The ice cream shop itself is located right on Philadelphia. It has a little bit of a Mayberry vibe to it once you’re off of Greenleaf, the much busier street that runs perpendicular. There is a metered parking lot on the same side of the street, that was REALLY cheap in comparison with other cities. There’s also a Public Parking Structure across the street, but I don’t think that they’re open on Sundays. Street parking is hard to get. **THESERVICE** The employees were friendly. They didn’t mind waiting while we took our time deciding, so they get an A+ in that department from me. **THEICECREAM** It’s very simple in here. The menu is straight forward. No long recipe list for a menu item, making you question each ingredient, which was nice. There’s just 12 flavors offered, which I think is enough. Walnut, Vanilla, Strawberry, Cookies N’ Cream, Strawberry Cheesecake, Pecan Praline, Chocolate Brownie, Chocolate Malted Crunch, Pineapple Sherbet, Coffee, Spumoni and Chocolate. I ordered a shake. The flavors I chose were Walnut & Cookies N’ Cream with 2 chocolate chip cookies blended in the ice cream! YUMMY! You can get day old cookies for 50 cents. A cute way cut down on waste. **INCONCLUSION** Emmy Doos seems to be very active in their community. They have a little board with youth programs and local events. I was told that some of their profits go to the local youth programs! It’s a simple ice cream shop which really gets about 3.5 stars, but since they’re so charitable, I’ll follow suit and bump them up to 4**** STARS!!!

This place is really good, especially for the price you’re paying. I got two cookies, and two scoops of ice cream for $ 3 flat. Every time I’ve ever been here, the staff has always been really polite. The cookies were really soft and nice and the ice cream was good. For all the people complaining, remember this is a non profit place. They’re basically doing something good for the community while serving you something yummy. Sorry it doesn’t blow you away like some fancier places(that also charge like twice as much) Would definitely recommend ! This is a great place to come for a little snack.

We showed up about 30 minutes after they opened. There were a total of 8 cookies of three different kinds just sitting there. There was also a low selection of ice cream. The ice cream sandwich I chose was white chocolate(it was between that, oatmeal, and sugar) with vanilla ice cream. It was… Good. The cookies are small but they do give you a good portion of ice cream. The service was ok. They have mellow college students working which made it hard to ask for anything because it was like pulling teeth. Not sure I’d make a trip to go back unless I happen to be in the area and someone else suggested it.

The staff was friendly, however the ice cream sandwich was unpleasant. I was hoping to have options of various cookies and ice cream flavors, but I was disappointed. The ice cream is thrifty brand, and although I do enjoy my thrifty/rite aid ice cream, the flavors were off. Additionally, the cookies were either over cooked or undercooked. I was expecting delicious white chocolate cookies, but except I was provided below mediocre cookies. If you’ve ever been to the ice cream shop, Diddy Riese near UCLA you know what quality ice cream sandwiches are supposed to taste like. Do not come here if you’ve been to Diddy Riese, you will be disappointed.

I’ll make this quick, simple and honest. Stopped by for ice cream cookie sandwiches. Halfway decent cookies, decent store bought ice cream. Not bad. 3 stars. This place is non-profit for worthwhile kids organizations. 3 stars bumped up to 4. ’nuff said.

Not impressed at all. I have been to a place like this in San Diego and loved it. I was super excited to try this place. So basic concept here is you pick out 2 cookies and 2 scoops of ice cream. Ice cream scoops go in between the cookies. This place is located in Uptown Whittier and very small. Can be easily missed. Upon walking in I was surprised of how many workers there were. This place is super super tiny that their sink to wash was openly located in the left corner. There was barely enough room for us in there. There were 2 guy workers and 2 girls all very young. The service was actually great. They were super nice and helpful. Right when you walk in are the choices of cookies. Which there were not many options nor many cookies for the options they had available. I really wish they had more of a variety because I didn’t want any of the ones they had. I wanted a peanut butter but they had the simple chocolate chip, double chocolate chip, sugar cookie, and oatmeal. They were also very standard size. I browsed the ice cream and again it wasn’t much variety nor the flavors I really wanted. The ice cream are in Thrifty ice cream containers which is awesome since I love Thriftys. I just wish they had more options. I got the double chocolate chip cookie and sugar cookie with a scoop of cookie dough and scoop of double brownie. My thoughts were the cookie should have been warm. They were hard and felt like they were the ones that have been sitting out and left over. The ice cream was okay. They put it in a bowl with wax paper and the ice cream sticks to it so pulls the paper up every time. I wasn’t impressed because I seriously could have made this myself. Cookies tasted store bought. They do have a stamp card but to be honest I probably won’t come back since I felt it wasn’t spectacular.

Okay, so I see many reviews that compares Emmy Doo’s to Diddy Riese out in Westwood. First, Emmy Doo’s gives ALL the proceeds to the local after-school programs. They are funded by a GROUP of people that give all the money back to local education. HUGE brownies points. Diddy Riese is great and all(the line speaks for itself), but I can’t help but feel A LITTLE proud knowing that my money’s not going to a savvy business owner looking to find the next«in» product and that the money is going towards kids and their education. The product itself(ice cream sandwiches) is amazing. You choose 2 cookies and you get two scoops of ice cream(also your choice) in the middle. BTW, it’s ONLY $ 3.00! STEAL! Recap: Help kids and fund education + Cheap ice cream sandwiches = 5 stars ANYTIME.

You have to have your mind set before you get there. This is Thrifty Ice cream with cookies baked in store. If you go in there expecting artisan gourmet ice cream you will be disappointed. If you like Thrifty ice cream like I do then you are in a for a pleasant surprise. The cookies themselves are soft and chewy(just the way i like them). The ice cream portion in the ice cream sandwich is generous. You can choose any 2 scoops of ice cream and any two cookies. I got mint chip ice cream with toffee nut and turtle cookies. The cookies tasted good and very good with the ice cream. Good place with proceeds going to a good after school program that helps kids. Its win win in my book.

There aren’t a lot of bells and whistles with this place but that’s what I like about Emmy Doo’s. They keep it simple: – menu is concise(no anthologies here!) and ice cream-centric – cookies are made fresh and taste delish – you get 10% off when you check-in on Unilocal – ice cream is tasty and similar to, if not the exact same as, Thrifty(and I love me some Thrifty Ice Cream!) – prices are affordable($ 3 for a yummy & hearty ice cream sandwich? I’m down!) – their profits go to funding programs for local, under-served youth populations Check this place out. It’s good eats for a good cause.
