Sandwich and Salad were just ok. The salad I ordered had some sort of horseradish dressing that didn’t really go well with the rest of the toppings. Sandwich was just about $ 10 for a pretty basic tuna. Nothing special about the tuna. I expected more flavorful and unique flavors from an organic shop, or at least, good fresh mixes. Definitely overpriced. Also, weird ambiance. Kind of reminds me of a old circus/creepy dollhouse vibe. Not what you expect looking for organic foods. My friend did like her banana/chocolate shake.

This was a great place to get fresh organic juice, however they are currently closed, but will re-open as a new Café. Just wanted to share this in case you’re coming down to pick something up.

I go to this spot because it’s right around the corner from where I work. I don’t think it’s amazing, but I like the«organic» type of effort that they portray. It’s like the only organic type place with dairy free options in Uptown Whittier. The service could be better. The cashier took the order of the women in front of me, and left me hanging for a while, without saying a word. You can really tell who’s just doing this for the money and who cares for the actual business itself. If the people were more friendly and personable, I’d give this more stars. It’s not that impressionable, aside from the weird run down venue type scene they have. As for the actual place, it has a weird punk/alternative feel, yet trying to be holistic. It’s kind of confusing, but I guess it appeals to hipster rebels? It kind of reminds of The Chain Reaction in Anaheim. Like, a greasy punk band from junior high is gonna play at this place any minute. It reminds me of tormented youth.

Health kick? Come here. Love music and live bands? Come here. Wicked imagination? Come here. This place is a culmination of creativity, taste, and a funky modern twist. A healthy food deli mixed with an amazing beer selection for when you need somewhere to kick it with a friend or two at night. Must stop by to see and make kote of what the decorations are telling you. The anti-fast food message is definitely clear!

Picked up a sandwich from here for lunch since I work near by, I thought with all the reviews it would be good, but it was OK, got it on gluten free bread which was like miniature. I thought it would maybe be toasted or something, but it was ok and for the price not worth it. I’ll look for another sandwich place.

Really awesome to have lunch. Have been there a couple of times with friends and family, and it hasn’t disappointed so far. The staff is very welcoming, usually striking conversation as you’re ordering and even offering good suggestion on the vast selection they have. The vibe they have at the restaurant is very unique– I would definitely place it as a very indie meets hipster meets edgy atmosphere. It’s very cool and fun to even be there. The food in my opinion is great. Their sandwiches are not only delicious, but they’re good for you, the turkey avocado and Big Larry are just a few to name that all come in with substitute ingredients if asked. However, if I had anything to suggest to steer away from, I would definitely not try the lemonade, it does taste as though they use tap water to make it. Overall this place is a killer place to take friends and family, have a healthy and nice lunch, and even talk to the local natives there. P. S. They even have local bands come perform on the weekends here. That’s rad!

I love this place! The food is organic and really good… the employees are friendly and its the only place I drink beer :) To be honest its also the only place my brother ever eats vegetarian food. Everything I’ve tried here is delicious and the food is always consistent. The atmosphere is fun especially when it’s crowded and the décor is really trippy but also fun. Overall I would definitely recommend this place if you’re in the mood for something healthy and delicious.

I was visiting a friend in Whittier when we decided we should get something healthy for lunch! After doing some Unilocaling, we settled on this. There wasn’t a line when we walked in and placed our order. I got the veggie chipotle chicken sandwich with the fideo soup and a mango smoothie. There were only two people working so the wait for our food was a little long. We came in at the right time, because after we sat down, a swarm of people came in. I felt bad for the guy who had to take orders since he was also trying to make the drinks as well. The prices are good and the food wasn’t bad. They should consider hiring a third person to make the service a little bit quicker. Other than that, it’s not bad.(:

So, about 10 months ago I came up with the bright idea of doing a 3 day juice cleanse for no real good reason and somehow I suckered the wife into doing it with me. Yeah, she still hates me for it. Yes, it was 3 days of no meats, no solids of any kind… I literally had night terrors and was sweating for that first night of the cleanse. Surprisingly, the second and third days I felt pretty damn good… the wife was miserable by the way and threatened my well being on numerous occasions when I mentioned how easy it was and how fantastic I felt. Our first normal meal after the cleanse was here at Fenix 5 – 4 because it was nearby and I knew they had meat and beer on the menu… CALICHEESESTEAK I know, it may not look like much… but GAWDAMN if that thing wasn’t fu*king amazing… warm, crusty bread, hot tasty steak with gooey melty cheese… wow. Next time, I’m just gonna do a meatjuice cleanse.

Fenix 5 – 4 is my new FAVORITE place. I wish there were more places like this in Whittier. I’ve been there a couple of times and I always get the Rosemary Chicken Sandwich. Service is friendly, food & drinks are great, and it’s not too pricey :)

This is a pretty chill spot to grab a bite to eat and have a beer. They only have bottled beer but the selection is of a good variety. Check this place out at night it gets pretty crowded and they book local bands.

One star for a pretty good grilled cheese but how can you mess up something so simple? Service used to be nice about a year and a half ago(one more star) but I don’t know what happened because now they’re rude and just don’t care at all about the customer. This entire place is for the vegan hipsters waiting to see what crappy band is going to play next. And those same hipsters tend to be the ones making your sub-par sandwich. Walking past this place at night is almost like walking past a ghetto venue in downtown los angeles. Well, actually, that goes for the entire Uptown area. Would rather go to Steve’s BBQ than Fenix. And that’s pretty sad.

Not a fan. I went to Fenix with a group and was disappointed. I look at is as an eclectic place. Healthy food, vegan options, etc… I am not vegan, so I ordered a sandwich, menu says imported ham, provolone, vinaigrette and arugula. I expect it to be just that… When I get it, there is also tomato? Why do the list tomato for other sandwiches but not this one if it is coming with tomato? AND it is swimming in mayonnaise. I did not want to make a big deal with the group, so I disassembled the sandwich and scrapped the mayo off and set aside the tomatoes. After cleaning my sandwich, it was just ok. I have had much better tasting hams from the deli counter at WalMart. Sorry Fenix, but you lose. Make the sandwich the way you say and you might get better reviews. You certainly would have from me. But adding crap that is not listed without asking is unacceptable. The wheat grass was good tho, get a star for that.

A review on service, not food. I’ve been here on days when they host bands(not sure if they do this still) and regular business days. I’m not sure why but the staff was friendlier and more attentive when there was a band playing. It wasn’t perfect but it was good considering the place would usually be packed with people listening to the music. But on their regular business days, the staff was clueless and rude. I remember once I ordered a drink and I had asked for it cold and got it warm. When I asked for an exchange i got eyes rolled and not so subtle sighs. Management was extremely rude as well. Again this is not a review on food, just service.

I just went vegan a while ago and Fenix 5 – 4 instantly became my local saving grace! When I first walked in, I felt like I was in an evil circus. Even worse, I turned around, I saw a freaky ‘70s/‘80s Ronald McDonald head staring right at me, along with other weird ass stuff, but I adjusted quickly. I had been drinking nasty ass juice with kale for too long, so I ordered a tasty ass juice, Pineapple Express. And no, it does not get you high(Don’t do drugs, kids. It makes you do stupid ass s***). So far I have had the Fake BLT Avocado, Veggie Chipotle Chicken Sandwich, and the Veggie Club Sandwich w/o cheese. I’m planning on trying their Veggie Beef Tacos. So far, everything is amazing, except for the inconsistent service.

Fenix 5 – 4 has a huge selection of beers. Although when I asked the server to recommend me a good hefeweizen, he wasn’t too knowledgeable. Not only that, but the one I did order was out of stock, so he gave me a different hefe that cost less than what I originally paid. Fenix, you still owe me $ 1.00, just sayin. I also ordered a steak and cheese sandwich. It was pretty good, with the beer that I had. Although you get the puniest side of potatoes I’ve ever seen. Fenix has good food and drinks, but I’ve had better.

If I had written this review last summer, it would have been 5 stars. The first few times I ate at Fenix, I was happily surprised. The owner spoke with us and was so friendly. The servers at the counter were helpful. The food was delicious. Lately, though, there have been several problems. Tonight was the last straw… Fenix is not necessarily a vegetarian establishment, I understand that… But they are vegan/vegetarian friendly, or so I thought. Tonight, the guy behind the counter was very rude and actually looked angry that we walked in. Also, he was SOBUSY watching whatever was on TV, he messed up my to-go order. I ordered the Veggie Chicken Chipotle sandwich. I’ve had it before… It’s delicious. It’s on the vegetarian menu. It’s got a big«V» next to it. When I got home, I sadly discovered that my fake vegetarian chicken was indeed real chicken! Yes, sometimes the fake meats are very similar, but this was definitely real chicken. I blew over $ 16(I got two sandwiches, one for me and my husband). Now I’m hungry and cranky. Last time we came here, there was a girl behind the counter. I asked her what on the menu was vegan, and she responded«I don’t know,» and that was it. She didn’t ask anyone, she just pointed to the vegetarian items and said, «these might be ok.» Really? I like supporting all of the awesome new places sprouting up in Uptown Whittier, but I’m not going to Fenix anymore. It’s not worth it.

Their turkey guacamole sandwich is DELISH! I loved the thick chunks of sliced turkey and the avocados. Creamy complemented with chunky. LOVELOVELOVE. I’ve had my share of sandwiches and this turkey one definitely is unique *didn’t think that was possible??? Also tried a friend’s naan«sandwich»(The Big Larry) but it was delish. We couldn’t resist ordering a strawberry acai banana soy smoothie … went down cool, lightly creamy, and only just a dab of sweetness. LOVEDIT! =) They also have juices, soda pops, and a huge range of beers! Everything is reasonably priced especially for the quality of food. The space is small and eclectic but cozy. If you’re lucky, they might leave our beer chips that you can snag(which we did).

2nd time here, and this time around I tried: Big Larry(photo attached) * $ 8.50 Rosemary chicken, turkey, fake bacon, provolone, chipotle, guacamole, aioli & tomato, served on naan The chicken was a bit dry, but the fake bacon was really really good! Unique and enjoyable place to eat…
