Does not develop a patient/doctor relationship. Seen him for 3 years and had a seasonal flare up that required eye-drops on a Friday afternoon. Something he has previously diagnosed and prescribed but I never filled because it’s rare to need it. He refused to call it in to my pharmacy without first being seen. I was just in his office a couple of months ago. This is just poor patient care. And worse is waiting all day on Friday for a call back that never happened. Instead I was forced to deal multiple times with dim wit front office staff who only offered canned answers and tried to make an appointment. If you just want the co-pay I’ll send it to you. A doctor should be there for the patient when needed. It was eye-drops for goodness sakes. Now my eye and I are suffering and you have just lost a patient.

Dr. Marshburn is very kind and informative, operating out of a small office that feels more like a home than a doctor’s office. He and the friendly staff helped me out with an infection I had and got me on track to getting a new pair of glasses that I was long overdue for. Thanks!

Oh my god. A little background first. I’ve been needing cataract surgery. I work in the medical field and I have some issues that cause an increased risk of retinal detachment, so I have a few questions I would like answered before I have someone cut into my eye. I had seen one surgeon who was very nice, but a retinal specialist gave me the impression that he was getting a bit up there in years and had good days and bad days. I then went to see Mr. Marshburn. He is supposed to be a very good surgeon. My first visit to his office was like a trip through an assembly line. The guy who started trying to do some test on my eyes wouldn’t answer my question of what the test was for, and couldn’t get the machine to work. After other various tests I finally met Mr. Marshburn. He spent very little time with me, told me there were three options of lenses I had to choose from, one fully covered by insurance, two not covered. I was then whisked into another room where the surgery was being scheduled and I was given the hard sell for the most expensive out of pocket option. I scheduled the surgery, but after going home to do some research on the different lenses and speaking to my optometrist, I called back to cancel(as it has been set up for a only a week away), until I had a chance to research a little more and make an informed choice. Well, I got a call later that day from my optometrist saying they had called his office to see why I cancelled and I got the feeling he got a reaming from them. Being busy with work, I put things off for a few months. When I went to look into surgery again I was given another name by my optometrist, but that surgeon was booked for months in advance. So I thought I would give Marshburn one more try. I called for an appointment and told the receptionist I just wanted to schedule to see the doctor as I had maybe three questions for him before I set up surgery. When I arrived for my appointment, after waiting nearly half an hour, I was taken back to an exam room. I explained that I had set the appointment with the doctor only, not for any exams. They guy made a weird face and said hold on, went and got someone else who asked me what I wanted to ask the doctor. I told him, again, I had set the appointment to ask a couple of questions. He begrudgingly went to get Marshburn, who came in acting quite irritated. He stated that he didn’t have time to talk to people when he had patients with appointments waiting. Asked if I even had an appointment, which I did, how else did he expect I even got into a room? Then went on to say they had no set up for doctor only appointments because they can’t bill for them. When I started to ask a question about the expensive lens, he told me I wasn’t even a candidate for that lens, to which I replied that’s funny because that’s the one that was being pushed on me last time I was here. Every question I asked got a snide comeback and I was then told I wasn’t ready for the surgery. Told him that was why I was there and he then said, ok so do you want your exams today? By this point I was completely shook up, I couldn’t believe he was being such an ass, so I got up and said, No, I’m not comfortable with this office. As I was walking out he started to mock me as I heard him snidely saying«I’m uncomfortable with this office.» What a complete and utter asshole. I’ve since been told by others that he has no personality. I guess if you don’t care about what’s being put in your eyes and don’t have any questions about what your sight will be like for the rest of your life, he’s your man. Fortunately, I found a good surgeon who also was a decent human being and had my surgery yesterday. I would run not walk from Marshburn’s office.
