Mike’s Z Shop

If you have a Z car, this is the place to go. I brought my 350z in for a clutch repair, and had it done at a really fast pace. They give fair pricing and is upfront about it. Better yet, when you write the check, there are no surprises compared to other places.

Knowledge group of brothers very helpful and will tell you what you need and don’t but it’s all up to you, they can pretty much to anything with your car. Great team.

Went to visit Mark and his crew last week for a tune up on my 73 240Z. Holy crap, this place is AWESOME!!! If you own a Datsun/​Nissan and live nearby, this place is a MUST VISIT. These guys know what’s up with these vehicles. They do great work and are honest with you. They will let you know exactly what’s up with your car and show/​prove it to you. Not only did they tune my car, but gave me advice on what to do in the future and fixed my non-​closing driver’s door (NO CHARGE). This is my GO-​TO place for my upkeep and repairs from here on out. I love this place, talk about knowledgeable, great customer service, honest and a great heart they have there. I love bringing my car here I know that every time it’s going to get the best service at the best price. I can’t brag enough about this place, it needs to be known out there. I only found it by chance.

Why didn’t I know about this shop years ago? So happy I have an honest and reliable repair shop for my 280ZX now! Mark and Matt are so knowledgable about all things Z! And they have tons of connections too. After they gave my car a through check up, replaced a few items, and professionally polished my rims, they referred me to Santana’s Upholstery for new leather seats and mats. Everything was perfect! Love my Z and love Mike’s Z!

The location does an amazing job at specializing eith Datsun’s. Though, most people either don’t know about it, or just take their Datsun to a normal auto body shop and «take it up the tailpipe» (as it were) with price and bad quality.

I purchased my 260– Z new in 1974 and have driven it off and on during the last 41 years. It was in need of some care as I started my web search to find the best shop to perform these repairs. I came across many ads but Mike’s Z Shop seemed to look the best. Called and spoke to Mark the owner and took my car to him. As soon as I drove in I could tell I was at the correct place with a dozen or more Z cars parked in his lot.
Mark was quick to diagnose the problems with my car including a fuel leak spraying gas over the engine. His expertise and professionalism was appreciated and the car has not run this good in 25 years.
The repairs were completed on time and for a fair price. Mark is a great guy to do business with and I Highly recommend his shop.

Talk about experts! I’ve waited a couple months to post this review specifically to evaluate the work and performance.
When I brought my restored Silver 1970 240z in to Mark (the owner, and great guy), I had just gotten the motor built by a guy in Rancho Cucamonga. The car ran for a few month only and after asking for and being denied any warranty, I needed to find another help.
Me and a couple good friends tried to diagnose the problem but could not figure it out. Both my friends are very competent mechanics (one a former Toyota mechanic) and have built import cars starting back in the 80’s. I then tried to take the car to a Z shop in Glendale and agreed to bring the car in on a Saturday to meet the mechanic. I had the car towed there and the guy no-​showed me.
When I finally found Mike’ Z Shop, I knew it was the place for me. Mark figured out the issue within 10 minutes! Their work and service is spot on. They replaced my head, hooked me up with a performance cam and sent me on my way. I still need to bring it back but haven’t gotten enough miles on it so they can re-​torque the head.
In any case, I highly recommend this shop to anyone needing help with their Datsun. Mark and crew are the best and I will only bring my car here, period!

I just want to state that although I am not a mechanic nor I know it all, I do know enough about cars to get by. There are some things I can do for myself but I am not against taking it to the pros when I am stuck.
I’ve been to many different specialty shops and they are mostly all the same. Although they are very knowledgeable about their trade, they act like everyone else is an idiot and it doesn’t matter if you are a customer, they don’t mind making you feel dumb on purpose. Well this has been MY experience so far.
The guys at Mike’s Z shop are none of the things I just mentioned. They have amazing customer service and are obviously experts. They made me feel like my car trouble was just as important to them as it was for me. Very friendly staff and I plan to take my Z to them for all my concerns. I’m glad I went to see them.

I took my 72 240z because i had worn out the bottom half of the block. Mark got started right away and swapped out bottom with a rebuilt 260 block. He was keen on getting me on the road again while being resourceful and generous at the same time. i couldn’t be happier with the new engine and how helpful everyone at the Z-​shop has been. It’s very evident that these guys have been doing what they’ve been doing for a long time and that their enthusiasm in working on these cars has not worn out the least bit.

With a 1982 Datsun 280ZX, I’ve been «around the block» with «mechanics.» To find any repair shop that actually understands the workings of «Zs,» is tough enough. From that small group, try to locate an honest mechanic who doesn’t overcharge, who really enjoys helping customers, AND has something resembling an airplane hanger full of old (and working!) parts for old Datsuns. If you have located that mechanic, you have found Mark at Mike’s Z Shop. Of course, like any rare and valuable item, Mark is in great demand. With so many Zs being driven/​towed/​transported in from around the country looking for good repairs, you need an appointment; this is not jiffy service (as one crude and impudent Unilocal reviewer expected).

This is pretty much the only place I trust to take my Z. They are incredibly knowledgeable about all Z models and can diagnose a problem much faster than any other shop. They will fix it right the first time so don’t have to keep dropping money.
The shop has also been around for a long time. So their experiences of the charts!

I wish I can give this place a big shit I would take for them I hate mikeszshop these guys jacked me and my father around my father needed a smog pass tune up so he can pass and mike said to come in on a Wednesday only to drive from San gabriel to whittier for them to say sorry we have no time and room when there were plenty of spots available these guys are retards I hate how they treated us very rude and so we came on another day they told us to come they took my dad’s 280z 77 and with in a few days they said it was ready and sure enough they charged my dad 200 $ and said that it would be smog ready so we took it for a smog test and of course it didn’t pass they sent us a part and it didn’t even fit like really you morons l, now I took my 74 260z and made an appointment and I show up on time and sure enough they they told me they had no room and time lol like what ever at this point they told me to come sometime next week hahaha what a shifty service, and a bunch of there favorite customers came randomly and took up the space as I was about to leave and I over hear their friend saying can help me with my car and mike said sure leave it there I’ll hit you up later when it’s done like wtf is that, so I took my car to sunrisez in Glendale and they fixed my car in 10 min I couldn’t figure something out on a switch and they didn’t even charge me to sum this review up mikezshop is a piece of shit with service that flips you off don’t go to this rip off z shop :)

I ve been wanting a s30 for a long time and I finally had a strict budget for the car and the build. I went to Mike’s Z Shop to ask questions to see if my project was realistic. After visiting the shop and talking to Mark, he let me know what I could do for my money. He was really patient and knowledgeable about all things Z as well as the 510 and Roadsters.
Once I located my 260z I got it towed all the way to his shop and with in 4 business days he had my car running. He called me when he said he would and really helped me out since I was on a budget. He swapped my Down Draft Weber carbs for the SU Carbs and got me Air filters the same day. The guys at the shop all were super friendly and genuinely love the cars. They discovered other issue with the engine like rocker arms and rotting lines and they pretty much hooked me up with fixing those issues and charged me labor.
The shop is amazing. They have everything from L series engines to SR20 swaps ready to go. They have tons of transmission, dashes, hoods, almost everything you need they got, or can find for you. They have a Datsun lot full of client cars or cars that will dismantle. Its worth it to go and check out the shop. They are always working on really nice looking cars and have other cars just parked around.

Had a fuel leak that I can smell inside the cabin. He replaced all of the fuel lines inside the engine bay except the one thats leaking. So I called, had to leave a message because it was his day off but he called back right away, told me to bring it back in the following day. Had to drive 30 miles round trip but at least he fixed it right away.
Really nice guy but that leak was very common so I don’t understand how he can forget to replace that fuel line.

After five years of frustration (and about $ 2k) with my 82 280zx turbo, it is finally working. Since getting the car in 2008, it sat covered in my drive way due to an electrical gremlin. I have been to two other «z-​shops» for three separate attempts to fix the car. Before finding Mike’s Z, I was ready to push my car off a cliff.
Mark used his decades of experience and lots of patience to carefully diagnose the problem and then take the time to test out his fix. When I arrived to pick-​up my car, Mark personally washed the back window, threw on a new wiper arm and shared some cool info on Datsun’s. I was desperate for my car to work and he could have taken advantage of this and charged me big bucks. Instead, he was beyond reasonable and even gave me a Mike’s Z t-​shirt. I will wear it with pride.
Mark and his staff are honest, patient and just plain cool. I want to keep this gem to myself, but I have to share this review. Mark is the best thing since canned beer.

Amazing shop and friendly owner.
Mark took care of me when i came in for some questions regarding cylinder heads. I bought an N42 head from him shortly after and my 240Z was up and running again.
Now that I know about this place my Z will be taken here and only here.

I just had the guys at Mike’s Z do a bunch of work for me on my beloved ZX. Had the entire motor torn down and rebuilt, the Auto swapped for a 5-​Speed, headers, exhaust, lowering springs, matching shocks and struts and a new hood.
I talked to Mark for over an hour about what I wanted done, how much I could spend and he took all of my input and recommended a few things I didnt even think about.
When I got the car back, there were a few minor issues I wasnt happy with and Mark fixed those pronto!
Mark, Matt and Rod truly care about the customer and will bend over backward to make sure you have taken care of. I cant think of a better way of doing business!
tl;dr
Heres the deal: You’ve got a Datsun/​Nissan/​Infiniti and you need it fixed. You take it somewhere else and they screw with you. You take it to Mike’s, you get your ride fixed, you keep some green in your wallet and you go home happy.
