We’ve come here a few times now. For our first time we ordered the kielbasa and eggs with potato pancakes and raisin walnut bread and my husband ordered the ultimate scramble(turkey had good smoked flavor and lots of chunks of blue cheese) with country potatoes and biscuits/gravy(good sausage flavor and buttery biscuits). Service was quick and friendly. Our waitress checked on us consistently. On this particular day they were raffling off bakery goods. We won a dozen chocolate chip cookies. :) This place makes their own rolls, bread loaves, pies, biscuits, cookies, jams, coffee, and more. We enjoyed our meal. We’ve been back for lunch and breakfast again. Polly’s is a nice alternative to Marie Callender’s.

Let’s break it down like a fraction: Pros: 1. Polly’s serves a large portion for those of you with«healthy» appetites. If you order the cinnamon roll as your side order of bread, you’ll get a salad plate-sized cinnamon roll oozing with hot frosting. 2. Polly’s had an «Aloha menu» during the summer featuring all kinds of Hawaiian-themed treats. The fresh pineapple topping was very sweet, obviously fresh and not canned and delicious. 3. The prices are very reasonable, making Polly’s a good option for frequent visits. 4. Service is good. Wait staff is friendly and courteous. Our waiter wasn’t the fastest or most attentive I’ve ever seen, but he wasn’t lazy either; I wasn’t impressed but I sure wasn’t disappointed. Cons: 1. My wife and I ordered different breakfasts, but both of our meals came a little burned. My pancakes were obviously on the grill too long. 2. The plates are OLDSCHOOL. Think cheap 60’s or 70’s plastic cafeteria plates. 3. While you get a lot of food, it isn’t very phenomenal. Pretty average in taste and definitely lacking presentation. The ingredients taste cheap, a characteristic which reflects the low price well. At least Polly’s doesn’t serve small portions, or that would be a total rip off. Summary: I don’t think Polly’s deserves 2 stars, and I’d love to give this place 4 stars, but I simply can’t. It’s a very average place that seems to shine in an area with a serious lack of good breakfast spots. I’d return for a breakfast now and then, but I’m surely keeping my eyes open for someplace better.

I used to think of Polly’s as a place to get pies, but I was pleasantly surprised when my husband and I went for dinner one night. The staff is very warm and friendly. The food is made from fresh ingredients and less grease than other comparable diners. Their dinner menu is good, if limited. I like the turkey meatloaf and the Asian salad. Breakfast is where Polly’s really shines. Love their Belgian waffles and the giant cinnamon rolls, both made fresh. I like the scrambles, again not as many different combos as other places, but if you ask for something, they’ll be happy to make it to your liking. It’s been our go-to place when we want a casual meal out, instead of Norm’s or Marie Callendar’s.

3.5 stars Polly’s pies is what Marie Callendar’s used to be: a traditional American eatery that serves delicious pies! My mom got blueberry pie here for the holidays and it was very scrumptious. It was VERYSWEET… which is not exactly my cup of tea but that’s what you need to expect from an American bakery. The food is decent. I came here a long time ago for dinner and remember it being alright. Today I came here with my mom for breakfast. I got the Coach’s Oat Pancake Combo(2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon). I was delighted that you get a choice of banana or raisins in your pancakes. I went with banana. They weren’t the best pancakes I’ve ever had but they were good. My mom enjoyed her ham and cheese omlette. So to wrap it up, I’d give the pies 4⁄5 stars and the real food 3⁄5 stars.

We have been coming here for years, I don’t know if my expectations have gone up or if this place is going down. The food is still good, but the service and customers don’t know man! Don’t get me wrong I know they can’t help who their costumers are, but dang! My «All the meat and eggs too» did have eggs, but the bacon was weak ass Farmer John thin cut! WTF ! I expected crisp thick maple bacon! It also only came with a half piece of canned ham. Don’t get me wrong the food is good and the coffee is always great, but shoot come on do I really need three people asking me what I want to drink! Come on Polly’s get your ordering system down! Don’t get me started on the noise level! And I’m not talking about average café noise, I’m talking about people on their cells yelling. Kids running around the tables! The only reason they are getting three stars is because they have good(not great!) food and great coffee!

We visited Polly’s with friends as we were in town visiting. After an morning run, I was really looking forward to a good breakfast. Polly’s gave me what I asked for! I ordered the A.B.C. Omelette with a cinnamon roll. First off, the cinnamon roll was amazing and huge! My wife and I split it, which allowed me to finish off her Spinach Scrambler(excellent as well). The A.B.C. Omelette was delicious! The avocado, Applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, mushrooms and green onions combined perfectly. Service was a bit slow at times, but the food did the talking. Overall a great experience.

Since I don’t live near a Marie Callendar’s, I have to settle for Polly’s Pies. I get the banana cream and sugar-free strawberry pies. When you eat them together, it’s really good. This review is solely based on their pies since I haven’t tried anything else.

Oh what can I say about polly’s? Nothing bad! Their pies are always fresh and homemade. There is nothing like that homemade quality. The service is usually pretty great. I’ve been to several locations and have also dined in. The food selection is a lot like their pies, meaning you have a wide variety of choices. Based mostly on your typical diner style choices such as meatloaf, tuna salad sandwich etc. As far as diners go, this is one of the better choices as far as quality and taste. Sometimes they have a discounted price on baked items that are a day old. If your not picky about fresh dates and wanna save a buck this may be the way to go. I bought a bag of cookies for a great price & they were only a day old. They still tasted fresh and had the crunch you would expect from a cookie. Polly’s is always a treat for me, I just wish there was one closer to my house!

My love affair with Polly’s continues… In the past I have had some not so done in the middle pancakes/waffles. This is a thing of the past. Today I had a belgian waffle that was so light, crispy and oh-so-slightly caramelized on the edges it made me smile all day long! As much as I enjoy the unhealthy cobb, I may abandon it for my new found deliciousness, waffle. I will concede that I often have to salt my food at Polly’s. But most restaurant food is super salty, so that’s probably not the worst thing in the world. Polly’s remains my #1 go to spot for homemade food I don’t have to make at home.

I’m going against the grain and giving Polly’s a two-star rating. Before you jump all over me and my supposedly San Francisco-foodie bias, know that I’m not a San Francisco foodie, that I grew up in Whittier, and that my dad comes to Polly’s every weekday. That’s not an exaggeration; he literally comes to Polly’s Monday through Friday for breakfast, and he sometimes comes on Saturdays with his breakfast club – and if my mom happens to be out of town, he might even stop in for dinner seven hours or so after he’s eaten breakfast here. Well, why the low rating then? Well, Polly’s is kind of ridiculous. I understand that it’s been around for a long time, that it’s a locally owned chain, and that it’s cheesy in a way that other places I love are also cheesy. But I don’t have the history with Polly’s. By the time I finally came here as an adult for the first time, my dad had been a regular for many years. Although I liked it a little bit more than I expected to, I was also saddened by the stupid advertisements on its walls. I expect chains like this to «proudly serve» whatever crappy, genetically modified brands they’re going to serve.(I’m sure they get discounts for featuring these brands prominently in their menus.) But to literally have billboards for crappy brands on the interior walls of your restaurant? Sorry, I can’t deal with that. Some of the food is all right in the way that a lot of big-breakfast food is all right. But I’ve never had anything spectacular here, and I don’t think their pies are as good as Marie Callender’s. I love the fact that my dad and the cook have become good friends and that he(the cook) begins preparing my dad’s breakfast when he sees through the window my dad getting out of his car. I like how my dad knows the goings-on of what’s going on with who works here. But here’s the thing: My dad has done this with many places before. It was Bob’s Big Boy in Uptown Whittier(RIP), Carrows in La Habra, Coco’s in the Whittwood Mall(RIP), and various other places. I don’t think anyplace will ever replace Polly’s, but you never know.

Forget Marie Callendars pies… come here! First of all, you GOTTA try their delicious baked PEACHPIES! I don’t know what they put in that crust, but it’s the best I’ve ever had. The food there is pretty decent too, especially the all you can eat Maui kettle chips and the bacon salt and ranch salt seasonings that they have on their tables. Their hawaiian-islandish décor is also inviting and a great place to take friends, family and especially grandparents. We’re regulars now at this place.

ABC omelet, cinnamon roll, and hash browns + malihini waffle combo with mango iced tea and strawberry lemonade. Elderly show at lunch rush. Great service. I had a good dining experience at this clean location. I liked the aloha specials. I love it here because its smaller. I recommend this place but I wish they brought the stuffed French toast back. No wait for seating. Our server was attentive, bringing syrup without being asked. The food is good quality but the peaches and cream pie had too much of the latter. The walls are filled with corporate or stock photography that made me think of Germany for some reason. There weren’t many children before lunch. This was a satisfying breakfast. Unlike the Cerritos location, I didn’t notice any police cars checking for expired registration stickers. We were blocked in the parking lot so I don’t recommend the sideways spaces.

Came here today, looking for some breakfast after our hike, and Norms was jam packed. Saw Polly’s and been wanting to try it out. So we turned around and said, f*it lets try it out. So as we walking in we noticed all the busling elderly people getting seated, walking around, so we figured, hmm, maybe they cater more to the geriatric folk. So we got seated, went to the restroom, looked around, and no, there was a plenty mixed crowd going on. Bathrooms were clean, and fully stocked. So we get to ordering, and as first we sit the gentleman who seated asked us if we wanted something to drink. We got our drinks, and he shared that they had some special Hawaiian themed breakfast and lunches going on, to see the front of the special menu. So we did and we ordered. My friend got one of the aloha specials, which included 2 eggs, bacon, and 2 pancakes. The pancakes had some banana slices in them, diced walnuts, and some honey pineapple butter on top. OMG those were the bomb… a must try. I had there big breakfast. Forgot what it was called, but it consisted of 2 eggs, hashbrowns, toast, ham, bacon, and kielbasa. That was really good. Only thing i didnt like there, and is which why i didnt give them 5 stars, is because the server only came once to see if we needed anything. We got our initial drinks, and they only asked if everything was ok, when the meal came out. Now, did i want more coffee… YES. But its ok, 4 stars. Now i will suggest this place if your in the area, but hopefully your server is more attentive.

We were in the area for my cousin’s wedding, and staying at a hotel across the street. Polly’s offered a discount to guests at the hotel, so my family found ourselves there one morning. Best french toast I have ever had. The only one that comes close is Fifth Wheel’s in San Leandro. There were six halves, covered with confectioner’s sugar, served with bacon and eggs, and fresh strawberries and whipped cream. It was so beautiful. And that was a humongous amount of food, but I just. Could. Not. Stop. Eating. This from a girl who normally isn’t even awake for breakfast. My sister had choco banana pancakes, which were pretty fantastic too. Actually, everyone was immensely satisfied. So much so that none of us felt the need to eat until the late afternoon reception. We bought a banana cream pie to bring to our cousins, and it is forever my regret that I never got to taste it. I’m sure it would have been awesome.
