I was looking for a place to run a few days ago. I normally would have headed to Biola, for the luxury of a rubber track, but my friend recommended Sheriff’s Academy. So I came here to check it out. Not only is it more conveniently located in Whittier but it’s VERY nice. Its no rubber track but that’s ok. Its a perfect 4 laps for a mile. In the center of the track is a large grassy area and very nice playground. Benches and places to sit throughout the park and along side the track. It is also very nicely landscaped, I was able to run in the shade on one side of the track. On one end of the track they even have a little workout area. There is a large free parking area. I felt comoletly comfortable and safe there. I will definetly be coming back here to get some laps in.

Now I get to update this review and am so happy with the with the update! They redid everything here and it looks so beautiful. I haven’t seen a better park for the kids to play in the Whittier area. They still have the track to run on and added tons of trees and plants. They have benches throughout to sit along the track. The playground is huge and has really cool things for the kids to play on. There’s a teeter-totter which is so fun! They have a water fountain to keep hydrated. There is a little weight station to do some pull ups or leg workouts. There were benches and they turned into a grass area with steps which you can still sit down on. Overall it looks so beautiful and Whittier needed something like this. The crowd there has grown and so many families are there running while their kids play.

Has what we wanted open track to time mile run accurately. Free public parking. Kids can play on playground in the middle while you walk or run around the track.

Great place to get a workout in or let the kids get their energy out Been coming here since as long as I can remember Theres pull-up bars and walls/fences to climb when the academy isn’t using them. There’s also a little Port-A-Potty that can be used if desperate. *minus 1 star for no lights

Cool place to run, no vending machines around for water so make sure you bring your own and have good music playing while your running.

This is a basic track for Sheriffs Academy use, that is open to the public when Law Enforcement is not. Also, there are pull up bars, mock window and fence obstacles, short run of bleacher stairs, and some other features. Not fancy by any means, but it is what you make of it. I think it’s great to offer this to the public. What an idea. Great training for mud runs or trail runs. I’m training for the Tough Mudder next Feb and this is an excellent addition to my training program.
