We happened to stumble upon this place by accident. This place is perfect if you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the real world. The owners, George and Hanneke are there daily and you will love them! I recommend doing the B&B! Breakfast is sooooooo good. They have croquet, bad mitten, horseshoes, and trails to keep you occupied. It’s less than 20 minutes from the casino, but I say go to Bryson City and take a trip to the Nantahala Brewery — WINNER!

Reading the other reviews shows me that we were not dreaming. Driving in I was skeptical, but when we got to the top of the hill I was quickly changing my mind. We were greeted at the front door. We were given a full tour and I was sure I was dreaming. We had the romantic suite. We went to a show in Cherokee. When we returned it was dark and the lighting was beautiful. We got some beer, cheese and crackers much cheaper than I expected. We sat on the front porch and had a wonderful evening. The next morning we had the most amazing breakfast. Did I mention AMAZING. Then we hiked around the property to enjoy the beauty of it all. My only regret is that we could only stay one night. We are trying to figure out when we can go stay several days. Only concern is after a few days in heaven, how hard will it be to leave? Everyone needs to experience The Chalet Inn! One of the best places I have ever stayed.

If you are looking for a quiet romantic getaway or just a relaxing weekend in the woods, this is the place for you. They have thought of every detail and quite a few I would have never imagined. This is a Swiss/German theme bed and breakfast and they deliver. They make authentic foods, beer, wine and drink available to guests at their desire on the honor system. We had the most wonderful chocolate one morning and a delicious imported beer from The Stube every evening. The Stube is a little out building available to guests to purchase(at a very reasonable price) any snack or drink you could want. They also have outdoor games, a fire pit, grills, hiking trails with hammocks situated along the way and beautiful gardens to look at. The breakfasts are all homemade and amazing. They are a friendly couple who go out of their way to give you an authentic, enjoyable experience. We will be returning soon!

Hanneke and George are the most gracious hosts, and your every need is cared for. If you want lunch or dinner, that’s available, if you want to have a bonfire down by the lake, you can do that too. How about hiking? They have over 22 acres! Do you need directions because your GPS quit working? They will provide you with a map. Country club access and pool passes are part of the experience, and you can even get a massage in your room by special arrangement. I can’t understand how they got ONLY3 stars on their AAA rating, because I have stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels that offered fewer amenities, and certainly did not have as wonderful a staff! They always make you feel like part of the family, and for my husband and I, it is always like«coming home» when we visit. No kids allowed, so it is peaceful, restful, and romantic. Just what a 5star BnB should be! They set the standard which other BnB’s must live up to in my book.

The Chalet Inn had everything I wanted in a Bed and Breakfast: Good food, great housekeeping, and guests you actually wanted to hang out with. My husband and I came here for a quick getaway and got more than we would have ever expected. We stayed in the Brookview room. This room overlooked one of the many hiking trails on the Chalet Inn grounds. The view at night from our private porch was breathtaking. You could literally see thousands of stars. Because we had at table in our room, we were given the option of having breakfast in bed. We did it the first night, but loved talking to the other guest so much that we made a point of going to the main dinning room for the rest of our stay. Btw, breakfast was amazing. Hanneke’s breakfast rolls will change your life. There were so many little details that made our stay wonderful: the warm fireplace that was always glowing; the complementary glass of wine after a long day of hiking; the impeccable housekeeping; the comfortable bath robes; and best of all was the heated bathroom fan. Nothing beats getting out of the shower and basking in the warmth of a heated bathroom. The staff was incredibly helpful. Tim took the time to help us plan out our trip and gave some great recommendations. I was so thankful that he gave us a map and wrote out directions because our GPS and iPhones definitely failed during our drive through the Smokey Mountains. The Chalet Inn is on the quieter side of the Smokey Mountain, away from the very touristy Gatlinburg. It’s 10mins from Cherokee, NC, were you’ll see beautiful Native American basket weaving and only an hour away from Ashville for all you foodies. All in all it was a great experience. I think it says something when the other guests make a point to stay at the Chalet Inn once a year. For some, it was their 9th year there. It really felt like a home away from home. We are so happy to have found this wonderful gem.

My husband and I loved this place! Upon arrival, Tim greeted us outside and gave us a tour of the inn. The room was very clean and maintained. The breakfast was really great… several items were authentic German, which my husband loved. I even tried a new item and loved it! There are several walking trails around The Chalet and it is very secluded from town. George and Hanneke are very friendly and helpful innkeepers. Next time, I would like to get a room with a jacuzzi tub seeing as ours was very small. My husband and I will be back for another get-away!
