The Rail

PART OF THE DIRTBAG RUN REVIEW SERIES:
Hidden in a small community surrounded by Whittier, Pico Rivera, and SF Springs is this Little Lake dive called The Rail.
One would think they stepped into a Mario Almada movie (maybe not Fiscal de Hierro, but still pretty close) when you walk into this little piece of Mexico cantina.
As far as I could see the place was simple enough for the task at hand, which was to get some fire in my belly in the form of beer. Their selection is not in any way ample, but they sell beer by the can or the bottle.
The bar is long and welcoming, even if the locals and regulars may at first not seem this way.
The bartender/​hostess is all charm, and even makes complimentary snacks for partrons (I got hooked up with some hand made quesadillas with salsa) which sometimes includes ceviche.
The jukebox is all what you would expect it to be, with songs and sounds of Los Bukis, Bronco, Paquita, Selena, and with a couple rock albums peppered in.
Pool tables, botas y sombreros, and mexican imported beer by the bottle or can.
Not a bad little place to wet your appetite for booze, for a while at least.
Cash only, and prices are decent enough for 2 – 3 rounds, even if the company is not your cup of tea.
