Lazy bums. They close at 11 came at 10:50 and they didn’t serve us. They should stay longer but they don’t get paid for the extra money. Don’t come here

This place has some of the worst service I have experienced. There is not one person that works here that is not rude. I had a very bad experience because I was just browsing their beer selection and the middle aged asian guy thought I was comparing prices to their competitor LIQUORMART. I was not, I was just looking but was going to make a purchase. He then proceed with talking crap about my taste in beer which was irrelevant to the purchase I was making. There are many similar reviews on here, question I want to ask is why put yourself through this? Why risk the horrible service and the prices are actually pretty pricy as well. LIQUORMART less than a mile away is way better. They have friendly staff, they never judge your taste and if they don’t have it they genuinely mean when they say«we’ll try and order some». Uptown liquor is a bad business and should be closed down, these guys will throw in your face that they do not need your business because they have many«loyal customers» I’ve never heard of a business sending potential customers away but that’s what they do here. Do yourself a favor, do not even risk going in here and go to LIQUORMART. Besides the better service they have better selection and prices. * I would of given 0 stars if possible

If you want to check out craft beers and or wines this is a little gem in the city of Whittier. Knowledgeable and friendly staff waiting to help you with your selection. Try something new! Why not? I was invited to a party and wanted to bring something unique it was suggested to bring a seasonal beer. Well it was a hit the host loved it. She was like its seasonal?! I told her that makes its special and she better stock up. Enjoy it while u can! I am not a wine drinker but I was told to try a wine that was not strong. I heard wine is good for in small amounts so I tried it. I do like it. So I bought a case. I will be back soon to stock up. Cheers everyone!

Dude this place blows. The liquor mart has way better prices. He got mad because I was looking at his beer and thought I was trying to spy on his prices. He then got mad and told me that my favorite sucks. Never coming here again. I can’t believe this places even competes with liquor mart. Well I got to go, going to liquor mart to buy some awesome beer.

I appreciated the unique selection, moderate prices and even the customer service after a brief, yet pleasant conversation with the cashier(possibly the owner). I’m glad I read a few recent, albeit undesirable, reviews but still elected to use my own judgement, as someone familiar with running a business. Many reviews are often too narrow-minded for my taste.

Excellent beer selection. Have a sense of humor when speaking to whoever is behind the counter.

This place is always the place to go when you want something different. Their craft brew selection is more than ½ of their total beer count. And their beer count is huge! They sell boxed sets of liquor. They sell cigars(although this is the one thing I haven’t bought here) They sell wine. Their wine selection is huge as well. I always come here

When I have the $$$$ & it’s past after hours to go to Trader Joe’s., this is one of my other favorite spots to buy wine, for the hubby his craft beer. Prices are about average, but if your going to spend more(which is most local liquor stores) I would suggest liquor stores like this one that have a huge selection in wines, beers & the hard stuff. Staff has always been cool & helpful. Parking, mostly on street, not too bad. To sum it up, it’s the only store in uptown that has a huge selection of quality alcohol. In regards to the other negative reviews, so sad to hear that, I feel bad hooraying about their booze selection, as it is important that customers are not disrespected, especially the locals, they are why your business still stands. I never had a bad experience with the people who ran me up or worked there, but I did sense some sort of attitude when others where there working.(ex. the older/elderly person you refer to, yeah… I’m happiest when he wasn’t there(don’t know if he still works there??) but just wanted to say I feel you on your input.

Had the most bizarre retail encounter of my life at Uptown Liquor. Was staying at the hotel across the street and stopped in midday to buy some items. A twenty something clerk was setting up displays and I asked him if they had any V8. He curtly walked by and snapped at me «NO!» I looked in a nearby fridge and I saw about two dozen V8s. I grabbed a couple, some other items and walked to the counter to pay up. The clerk was about 15 feet away still working on a display and I told him I found some V8 and I’m ready to pay. He looked at me annoyed. He then walked past me and told me he didn’t feel like ringing me up and could I come back in about a half hour?! He then disappeared somewhere in the back. I waited a few, then left. I went back to the hotel and mentioned this to some of the staff they said they guy was probably the owner’s son and he is known for pissing people off. Never been to a place where they don’t feel like checking you out. That was a first for me. Ran into a few more people who had similar experiences and decided to stay away. Good news is tried the Rick’s Burgers across the street and it was love at first bite.
