Whittier Aikikai

I have been a student here for over three years. Scott Howard Sensei is a great teacher. He led me gently at the start until I got the basics.
Anybody considering studying a martial art may want to come check out what we do. Advanced students train with beginners so there should be no fear.
Some classes are adult-​only; however, children are welcome and we have siblings and families and we regularly train large and small and young and old together. The dojo is like an extended family.
Eventually, we get to higher levels and Howard Sensei provides a pure kind of aikido instruction. He is aware of the many different varieties and informs us of variations as he teaches us the aikikai way through his association with Hombu Dojo in Tokyo, Japan.
The commitment is worth it. Learning to connect with other people is what makes aikido so interesting.
