Great, laid back atmosphere. The winery is set back in the woods and has a nice wrap around deck/outdoor seating area. The Black & Blue, Orange & Blue, Marion Berry, and Crackling Cranberry are our favorite wines. They also have a few craft beers on tap. The only thing this place lacks is food. We would have stayed longer if a menu was available.

Aside from the hours of operation, this is a pretty great place. It’s situated in the middle of nowhere, so when you see signs for it, you’re probably ready for a driving break anyway. What better than to relax with a tasting. Lots of shade outside, and a big tasting area inside if you’re that type of person. Park wherever, it don’t matter. The wines are all decent for the price, the tasting was informative(although the pours are small), and if they have any off-menu stuff you can probably try that gratis. Really, it’s a don’t miss stop if you’re in the area and have the time. Skip getting gas at the station around the corner though, they’re overpriced.

I am unable to review the actual wine as was I wasn’t served any. I arrived at 5:25 and the winery closes at 6:00. I noticed there were tables being set up and inquired with the staff to see if the winery was closed for a private party. She said no but an older woman yelled across the room, «We close at 6:00 just like the sign says!» It was the rudest I have ever been treated in all my experiences in visiting wineries. I will never return and I will happily spend my money supporting more friendly establishments.

Great little stop close to the interstate. Friendly staff, great wine selection, & pleasant atmosphere. Free tastings & affordable bottles! Enjoy wine & cheese on the porch. Great place to stretch your legs when traveling! We’ll be back :) :)

So so so glad we stopped over. Heading home to Milwaukee from a Nashville road trip. Wines were great, service super friendly. Try the wine slushie for a little bit of heaven sitting outside. Awesome!

I walked out of here with 4 wines. And that’s after eliminating a couple from the«like» list. Need I say more? The deck has a pleasant shadow over it: you dont want to bake while sipping on liquor. Ever. Bob was nice and engaged me with some cool conversation. The only thing I didn’t like: the hours. Who closes at 6PM on Saturday??? A winery? It is not a child care! And I’m talking the long weekend, people! Please, consider extending the hours/ Thanks!

We think Peasant Hollow Winery is a great place to come & relax & enjoy a bottle of wine. 4 free tastes tests & if you share… that’s 8 tastings to be able to make a choice. Been there twice — will go again. Prices are very reasonable. PS it’s a 1 ½ hour drive for us.

Spur of the moment detour and a very pleasant surprise. Not far from the highway nestled in a patch of woods. Fall is a fabulous time to visit. Vibrant fall foliage and the smell of a fireplace make it homey. All wines tried were pleasant and leaned towards the sweeter side. Left with four bottles to enjoy. The map icon is a little off. If exiting highway via 154 take a left vs right and then you will quickly see the sign on the left.

Pheasant Hollow is but one of the many wineries located in and around Southern Illinois. PHW was my last stop on the Shawnee Wine Trail. It did not disappoint. They have a wide variety of wines and most of them are pleasing to the pallet. The gentleman working the counter knew his stuff. He was also pleasant and down to earth. No pretension here. The facilities are very nice. You can sit indoors or outside on the deck or the grounds. PHW also hosts a New Orleans themed fest. Check the website for details. I ended up purchasing several bottles of the Ring Neck Red. This is a basic table red but it goes down like kool-aid. Is that a bad thing? I think not. Make a point of stopping into PHW if you have the opportunity.
