Holy burnt burger! I’m all for getting some color on the grill, but this was ridiculous. It was only on one side, though, as was the black of the toasted bun, so I chalk it up to a mistake. Especially since there was recently a change in ownership(from what I overheard from where I was eavesdropping the new owners are actually the family of the previous owners from a few owners back) — the name of the restaurant is actually now HadaBurger, though aside from the frequent customer cards, there’s nothing on the exterior of the building to tell you that. In the middle of the city’s heavy industrial neighborhood and with the sickening smells of processed corn still wafting into my nostrils, there exists this one little burger restaurant. I didn’t even know Mosley went this far north. Given their operating hours, this place is clearly geared towards the workers who didn’t bring their lunch to work today and didn’t have time to travel anywhere else. I had a HadaSpicyBurger, the 1⁄3 lb patty coming with quite a few pickled jalapenos and it worked to amp up the vinegar content along with the mustard and pickles. The grilled onions weren’t anything special, but the onion-ciabatta roll was a nice change, and it sucked up the juices of the burger. If you’re going to try to make your own fries, the thin cut is the way to go, because at least a few of them have a chance to get crispy while remaining exceedingly greasy. These had a good hit of salt, too, as all potatoes should. I don’t know if I was in a generous mood or what, but I liked it well enough for a place that has no competition for miles around. Probably not to warrant a repeat visit from me, but if I was working down the street at the Cargill plant producing«corn sugar», sure.

This little«hole in the wall» burger joint is located at the corner of E.17th& Mosley. It may not look like much on the outside, but inside the place is clean, with several tables to sit at, and tasty burgers. The owner promptly took our order and severed it up hot and delicious. Real burgers, with real cow, not the mystery meat you’re served at fast food restaurants like Mcdonald’s. Made up the old fashioned way, with mustard, onions, and pickles. The way a hamburger should be. I think my hamburger is much happier when it’s not smothered in mayo. God knows I am. Our cheeseburgers were great and the onion rings were crispy and freshly made. Again I’m a huge fan of good locally owned restaurants, there is something to be said for dealing directly with the owner. They care about their product and your experience. They want you to return. So when I’m craving a greasy hamburger and fries I look for places like this to go to. While it’s the same price you’d spend at a fast food chain, the food is just so much better.
