I really enjoyed my food from Cairo’s! I ordered take-out and the staff was very nice while they made my order. I had the beef shawarma bowl and it was delicious! The texture and flavor on the meat was incredible. There was a ton of rice in the dish so it was very filling. I also ordered an order of the grape leaves. They were definitely stuffed to the brim, but I found that it was mostly seasoned rice which I didn’t care for. I really enjoyed the hummus that came with my meal. The shawarma meat alone will keep me going back, but I can’t wait to try more of the menu!

Came in on Friday ¾/2016 for lunch around 2:30pm, this was the first and last time I will visit this restaurant. The owner of this place is shady, but more about that later… On this particular day, Falafel and Papa Ganouj was unavailable, so I ordered a Chicken Shish Tawook wrap & a Gyro with Jalapeño Hummus and regular Hummus to go, several of the side items and entrees were unavailable. I wanted to order the Falafel and Papa Ganouj on the side but couldn’t. The chicken was ok, it was basically swimming in Mayo in the wrap, the gyro meat was previously frozen and warmed up in the microwave, there were excessive amounts of mayo in the Gyro wrap as well. The sides of Jalapeño Hummus and the regular Hummus were ok, I noticed they took a shortcut in how they make their Hummus, there was a big case of canned Garbanzo beans laying on the floor. Garbanzo beans are pureed to make Hummus. As their menu states both wraps are advertised to include«grilled vegetables», there were none, just tomatoes and lettuce. There is no flavor difference between Mayo and their«garlic sauce». Unlike authentic Mediterranean restaurants who have a rotisserie spit to cook the meat, this restaurant just reheat the frozen Gyro meat. I asked for some hot sauce twice and each time the owner said he didn’t have any, when I could clearly see it.(see picture attached) I also asked for a side of garlic sauce, he then decided to charge me $ 1 for a tiny container, I refused, didn’t take it and left. You will find better quality wraps and service at the Pita Pit on Rock rd. I will never come back to this restaurant, both the customer service and the quality of the food are subpar and a disappointment. If you’re looking for authentic Mediterranean food and not some meal slapped together, do not come here, or don’t come for their wraps.

Came here tonight with my boyfriend. We both ordered the beef shawarma. I got a fattoush salad and he got curly fries. Diner was not busy, but the food was fantastic and the owner was so courteous and inviting. I liked this place, because it felt authentic and different than your usual Mediterranean fare. I would highly recommend you check it out.

Hummus– fresh and authentic. Beef Shawarma– fresh, made to order, cooked to perfection, with a surprising difference in texture and taste. This place is legit, and anytime I’m on this side of town I’ll be choosing it first.

This is by far the best med food in Wichita. The beef and chicken schwarmas are outstanding. So glad I finally found good med food. Try this place and you won’t be disappointed. Serving sizes are plentiful, unlike at Meddy’s. Check it out!

It’s rare that I Unilocal any restaurant immediately after leaving, but not even 2 steps out of the door I reached for my phone to review this little Mediterranean spot. I am in agreement with my fellow Unilocalers. Holy cow, this little whole in the wall packs a punch in flavors. Affordable is an understatement when you consider the large portions and as noted in other reviews the workers here are very friendly. I think I may have found my new favorite Mediterranean spot.

This place is legit. Great food at a good price, and pretty clean. Sure it’s a bit of a dive, but in a good way. Help support local business, and your taste buds will thank you a million times over. We will be back. Repeatedly.

There was only one man working in here when I decided to try this restaurant. He took my order then cooked it and served it to me. He was so kind and made me feel very welcome in his establishment. The hummus was very nicely presented for a small shop and the sweet potato pita is off the charts amazing!!! Plus you always get a free drink this place is my new go to quick Egyptian/Mediterranean meal!!!

This place is delicious! !! I was pleasantly surprised with how everything was seasoned. I had the chicken shawarma with hummus as a side. I will definitely be a regular here. The music is pleasant and not to loud, just enough to make a nice atmosphere. The cook/owner came over to my table to make sure everything tasted great! The portions are also perfectly sized.

I decided to give this place a try, based on the reviews that I have read here on Unilocal.I ordered the Beef Shawarma Rice Bowl. It was very good, everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The only complaint I would have is they do not put very much meat on their dishes. Other than that it was great. I tried their curly fries and hummus while I was there. The fries are pretty good, the hummus was okay. It has a lot of garlic in it, I like garlic but even I found it to be a bit much. All that said I would definitely recommend this place.

I used my second Groupon and this time I called ahead to have my order ready at 5. Got there at 5 and it was ready waiting for me. Everything was good as usual. I’m chalking the last experience up as an unusual experience. I recommend this place, especially for call ahead orders or delivery.

Cairo is a hole in the wall in the best and worst senses of the term. On the one hand, it’s another Mediterranean restaurant to open in the recent resurgence of the cuisine in Wichita. Even better, the menu is Egyptian, which has a lot of familiar things, but with slight different variations than many of the Lebanese restaurants in town. You wouldn’t be able to tell by the middle-of-the-road shawarma, the beef in which was gristly and not particularly tender, except for the addition of curly fries into the wrap. It gives it a unique approach, though not necessarily a successful one. More interesting conclusions about Egypt can be drawn from the bowls, particularly the koshari: deemed the national dish of egypt, it’s a tomato-based sauce with macaroni that’s served over rice, lentils, and chickpeas. It’s so popular because of the ease of access to all of these pantry staples, and the complete protein provided by the grains makes it a healthy and flavorful vegetarian approach that isn’t found anywhere in town On the other hand, Cairo is a hole in the wall in the sense that it’s clearly not run by someone who has a lot of restaurant experience. The can be as few as one employee working, depending on the time of day. The menu is littered with misspellings. The strip mall location, while improved from the former tenants, still isn’t organized like a well-designed restaurant. Nevertheless, there’s plenty of genuine Egyptian food here to set it apart from many of the other Mediterranean restaurants in town, and for those unfamiliar to the cuisine it’s a good opportunity to learn something.

For some reason, I’m always there when they’re not busy. No one’s ever there at the front which can be frustrating at times when I’m trying to get someone to take my order. They’re extremely nice people though. Always smiling and very happy. I remember one time I asked for a cup for water and the guy handed me a cup and told me to just get whatever I wanted. I only wanted water, but appreciated his kindness. I always get the beef shawarma and hummus. Delicious.

We were here a few days ago on a rare lunch date to the south east part of time. I didn’t have good internet connection and so I am having to post this later. It was my second trip out here, and I was happy to finally try out his fool Meddamas, known here as «Vegetable Fowl» or maybe he has it as «Vegetarian Fowl»(can’t remember). That was one of my favorite dishes that I first experienced in Egypt about 15 years ago. I don’t make it for myself very often. We were also blown away by the fine texture of the falafel inside and the piping hot crispness of the outside. Can’t wait to come down here and try the other options on his menu!

Nice find! Humms creamy with a nice garlic finish. Kabsa was fresh, flavorful. Friendly and helpful staff. Look forward to coming back and trying the vegitarian dishes. Also impressed that you are served on glassware.

We were looking for something new to try and decided to take a chance on this new place. We were super hungry when we came and left with a ton of food and very full bellies. This food was nothing short of amazing. Excellent, fresh, and vibrant flavors made this normal Friday lunch into a vacation far away. The interior is simple but colorful and the stuff is friendly, knowledgeable, and genuine. I would definitely recommend this to anybody who wants to give their taste buds a vacation. Must haves include the jalapeño hummus and the Arabian kabsa.

In a little strip mall on Harry is where the crown jewel for Mediterranean food lives. The beef and chicken shwarma is excellent, whether in a pita or over rice is perfectly seasoned and juicy. The hummus and falafel is some of the best in town, both have incredible texture and flavor. Not only is the food delicious but the owner Adam is such a great guy. He always has a smile on his face and he feels that money isn’t the key to his success but friendships and making people happy through his food is most important. People of Wichita: Y’all need to get over here.
