If you’re a fan of Angelo’s look no further. Angelo’s used to be in this spot on Amidon. The food is just as great also. Manicotti w/sausage is my favorite. House Italian salad is fantastic as well

De Fazio’s is very hit and miss for us. The wait times for seats, drink orders, food to be brought out are fairly lengthy. We attempted to reserve the private room, calling 30 min before the party to verify the room was ready. When we arrived the birthday girl was told her room had someone else seated and it would have been $ 150 for a room rental anyway. They did find seating for us in the restaurant but this was very disappointing since we’d called a week in advance to book the room for a 60th birthday. Food is outstanding, but be warned– portions are on the small side.

I have been going to this restaurant since I was a kid. Always have loved this place. The staff is always friendly. Their steaks are delicious(what I usually always order.) I always get a side of spaghetti and that is pretty good as well. I could eat 5 baskets of their garlic bread too. If you like Italian and have never tried this restaurant, just do it.

Portions too small for the price, I got the chicken parm and my chicken was not very juicy, it was thin and dry. The soup was very good, and the waitress was very nice

My boyfriend grew up going to this place and has raved about it for years. To me, this place is great. It’s not the fanciest place in town, but if that’s all you care about, you might want to rethink your priorities. I felt the inside was perfectly adequate and hope to post a few photos of it this evening. Some more updates could be made, but this is a small, privately owned restaurant, not some chain. Service was great; our server was very knowledgeable and told us a lot about the history of it. We’d happily take her as a server any day. The food was wonderful, for the most part. The grilled chicken breast that was served with my Fafalle Pollo was perfect, but the sauce fell a little flat for me. Somewhat bland, but I’m happy I had plenty left to take home and season it up a bit. My boyfriend ordered the Braciole with a side of Fettuccini Al Pietro. He loved the Braciole, and while I didn’t try them, I could not keep myself from stealing as many bites of his Fettuccini Al Pietro as I could get. Wow. I still think it was a little bland for my taste, but I am dying to go back again and get it with their prosciutto, which was also awesome. 4.5 stars because of the lack of seasonings, but I can overlook that.

The food was subpar. I was hoping for some good Italian food in Wichita but this place turned out to be another miss. The pasta was over cooked and mushy. The meat was dry and also over cooked. The portion sizes were small. I would pass on this restaurant.

I am only giving this restaurant two stars because the tiramisu was pretty good. I ordered the chicken parm with a side of fettuccine Alfredo and my husband ordered the fettuccine carbonara. The chicken parm was very dry and over cooked. I asked for a side of red sauce since there was hardly any on it and they brought me a side of Ragu! The Alfredo sauce looked like it was reheated from a previous day’s leftovers because the butter separated from the cream. The house salad was drenched in dressing to the point it was soggy. We could hardly choke our food down and we definitely will not be back. Very disappointed.

Oye. Where to start… The only thing worth mentioning was the tasty carafe of wine and even that wasn’t perfect, we got over charged for it {bill vs menu}. The ziti & meatballs {2; that seemingly came from a package} were less than delicious. For an all Italian restaurant I expect it to taste unique & homemade. I’m pretty sure mine came from the freezer, at Walmart. My husband’s steak had zero flavor and the roasted potatoes were more dry than the desert. Not entirely sure how he choked them down. AND to substitute a house salad for a cesar they charge FULL price! Who does that? Usually it’s a minimal upcharge.

Went to Defazio’s as a recommendation from family who lives in Wichita(I am from out of town). The service was good, the food was average to good. I would go back again, but am not dying to go back immediately. FYI to fellow vegetarians-veggie options are few, they even have meat in their eggplant parm.

This restaurant is a good old favorite amongst a lot of people in Wichita. You can certainly make out that it was an old favorite as mostly everybody in there was in the over 60 crowd. That of course would account for by that menu was so old and tired. Our server was very polite and cordial as she had to apologize a couple of times as it took them over 40 minutes to go from salads to entrée. The entrees were ok, as I wasn’t expecting anything remarkable, I wasn’t disappointed. I was disappointed though when they brought the wrong dessert and I was told that their featured dessert was unavailable. I doubt I will ever go again, since the food was not good enough to bring me back and the wait times were were outrageous. From the time we sat down until the time we were served our entrée it was a full hour and 15 minutes.

I wanted a special experience for my birthday and many people I asked said Defazio’s was the best Italian restaurant in Wichita. My wife tried to make reservations, but they don’t take them for small parties. We arrived around 6 pm and were able to get a table by 6:30 pm despite the large crowd waiting. The décor was off-putting immediately; I felt like we were in a diner, not a restaurant, with cheap tables and a bland style. The complementary garlic bread was a small portion and very salty. We started with spinach artichoke dip, which was okay but unmemorable. For my meal, I had the lasagna with meatballs. While the meatballs were a nice addition to the dish, they couldn’t make up for the boring, salty tomato sauce. The salads were the best part of the meal. Perhaps I was ruined by the east coast, but if this is Wichita’s best Italian restaurant, looks like I’ll be cooking my own birthday dinners in the future.

I’ve been going to DeFazios since the early 80’s. We would normally dine inside but the service is slow & some of the servers are downright rude. So we’ve gotten our food to go the last 2 times & we were VERY disappointed. The prices are now sky high & the quality of the food has gone down. Each time we ordered the lasagna &/or the spaghetti & the sauce was always runny & the middle was cold with the lasagna, apparently they reheat their food. I ordered & paid $ 2.50 for extra eggplant on my salad & they forgot to give to me, so I called & I gave them our name so the next time we came in they would give me what I initially paid for. So we placed our order for a 2nd time/visit & we were assured that this time they would not forget to include the extra eggplant & we would not be charged for it. Long story short, even after me calling & addressing the issue of us being charged for an item & they«forgot» to include in our take out order the 1st time, they add insult to injury & charge us another $ 2.50 for their incompetence. We definately will never go there again, they’re over-priced & they’re food is mediocre & I assure you, you will walk away from your dining experience disappointed that you spent your hard earned money just to end up frustrated. We do NOT recommend this restaurant. Carabellas or Italian Garden gives you more bang for your buck & their staff is knowledgeable, courteous & gets it right the 1st time, at least they both have been for our friends, family & ourselves. We just try to initially give the Mom & Pop stores a chance.

Finally went inside of DeFazio’s for lunch! My Husband had every other Monday off from work and unfortunately they are CLOSED on Mondays(and Tuesdays, BTW). Since he was home this Saturday, we decided to go there and eat. It was snowing and had been and the parking lot hadn’t been cleared, but there was a young man out there with a snow shovel — basically making lines to indicate parking spaces. Because of the snow, I phoned first to make sure that they were open and a polite young man named James told me that ‘Yes, we’re open’ — he laughed and then said ‘At least we are right now.‘ Hubby and I had perused the menu online and already knew what we were going to order. Our Server, Kim. promptly took our orders. Hubby ordered a soda and I got an Iced Tea. — which our Server refilled. They do have a fairly extensive variety of wines, and apparently a full bar. Had the weather been better, we may have gotten something with alcohol — but the roads were a mess and we didn’t want to chance it. We ordered the ‘Hot Antipasta Platter’ — which has a variety of their appetizers to start. it had 2 Italian Sausage chunks, 2 Stuffed Mushrooms, 2 Large Cheese Sticks, 2 Arancini Rice/Cheese Balls, 2 Small Stuffed Eggplant pieces, and 8 Fried Zucchini Spears — along with a bowl of Marinara Dipping Sauce. Everything that I tasted was good. We actually talked about coming back for Appetizer Plate and a couple of Salads in the future. My Entrée, which was Chicken Parm’ came with a salad. I could have either ‘House Salad’ or a ‘Garden Salad’ — I chose the ‘Garden’ one with French dressing. I was glad that dressing came on the side, since I forgot to mention it. I like to keep my salad dressing to a minimum. I’d say that their salad was a little challenged. Just lettuce and a sprinkling of diced tomatoes. I would have liked some carrots, onions, broccoli, etc. Their ‘House Salad’ had black and green olives and some peppercinis in it – I don’t either of those items — hence, the ‘Garden Salad’. My Hubby ordered a ‘Ham & Pepperoni Calzone and it was HUGE! He seemed to really enjoy and ended up bringing @ ½ of it home. My ‘Chicken Parm’ was nicely prepared. I will agree with some of the other Reviewers that the sauce /marinara was a little under seasoned, I actually used salt and pepper to liven it up and I don’t usually do that, I chose pasta as my side dish and was given a choice of spaghetti, linguine or fettuccini. The fettuccini was tossed in lightly seasoned garlic cheese sauce. My Entrée was pretty good and I ended taking more than ½ of it home. We ordered 2 of their Crème Puffs ‘To Go’, Our Server brought us ‘Take Home’ boxes and a brown paper bag. It was a delightful experience! As a footnote, our Chihuahua /Terrier, who is a pasta junkie, was more than happy to help me eat the leftovers :)

Our group of 5 waited more than 45 minutes to be seated and decided to leave after multiple groups of 4 and 5 were seated within 5 minutes of walking in. No host/hostess stand and this place seems to have no idea of how to run an organized restaurant. The staff closed an entire dining room while over 20 people were waiting to be seated in the foyer. Won’t be returning.

It was all mostly great! Love the atmosphere and parts of my dish. My gfs dish was a bit better! We had fried zucchini… Better the next day. I had the sausage and peppers with fettuccine I think my sausage was a little over cooked but none the less the flavor was good. My gf had the chicken parm with the same pasta and it was excellent

The sample appetizer was to die for along with the manicotti and cannelloni! However, very disappointed in the service. Our waitress was very flippant when asked questions about the menu and we were told the tiramisu was not made in house because«it is hard to make and really complicated and not one here makes it themselves we all get it from the same place». Would give 5 stars for the food and 1 for service so 3 is the average.

Would give a 5 but the bread is awful. Frozen from Walmart was a good description given previously. I always order the sausage manicotti It’s wonderful. Pizza is wonderful too. Great homemade italian sausage. Love the pickled eggplant. I pick it up for my son when he visits from Seattle.
