Went to this location for the first time yesterday for a Barre class and I was impressed! They have an indoor track, lots of cardio exercise machines, lots of weight lifting options, and they seem to have a good deal of classes. I’ve never really lived somewhere where the Y was a regular gym and had classes for anything other than self defense or children’s swimming lessons so this was new and cool to me. The Barre class itself was great. I’m feeling it today in a good way. Strangely enough though… the classroom that we had it in did not have a ballet barre… something they may want to invest in. Also, they don’t have any Tennis courts at this location, only racquetball. I was really impressed with the facilities, the class instructor, and the woman who greeted us at the front desk though.

Wow, this is quite possibly the nicest YMCA, and one of the nicest overall gyms, I have ever been to. Big, beautiful, clean. Nice staff. Large lap pool and equally big kiddy pool. Huge weight room with tons of barbells, including an olympic lifting platform with bumper plates. Rowing machines. Clean and spacious locker rooms. The list goes on. I HIGHLY recommed it!

This YMCA is brand-new as of December 2012 — a MUCH needed renovation/addition to downtown Wichita. It’s a HUGE building and parking is extremely limited — right now the only parking is a small lot on the Broadway side of the building. Hopefully they have plans to expand the parking because it’s frustrating. The locker rooms/restrooms are on the 1st floor, and everything else is on the 3rd floor so you can either take the elevator or walk up two flights of stairs. Like all YMCAs, this one offers a variety of cardio and weights equipment, an 8-lane lap pool(yeah yeah!), group exercise classes(yoga, spin, step, pump, etc.) and an indoor track, among other things. The equipment is new and so are the locker rooms and other amenities.

This is basically the only Y I go to in Wichita but 3 stars because it’s old and kind of gross, but they’re opening a new downtown Y next year. But the good points of the downtown Y are that it’s usually just adults and not very busy in the evening(Mondays are usually the busiest). They definitely have enough amenities to make it worth going to, as well(lots of machines, weights, pool, hot tub, sauna, classes, etc).
